The next morning I woke up to an empty house. Haru and the injured villagers were all gone. I quickly got up and rushed outside. The village was engulfed in flames and everybody was fleeing. I looked around for Haru but wasn't able to find her.
"HARU!!" I yelled.
"Is this who you're looking for Fox?" A sinister voice sounded.
I looked over and the Shaman Mage had taken Haru and the Chief captive.
"I can't be having you two healing people when I'm trying to conquer this area."
Right then the goblins slit their throats and threw their bodies to the ground.
"NO!" I screamed.
"Natsuki!"
"NATSUKI!!"
Haru shook me awake.
"Natsuki are you okay? You were screaming in your sleep."
I tightly hugged Haru in relief.
"I'm sorry Haru. It must have been a nightmare. Go back to sleep. I'm sorry I woke you up."
"It's okay. It's dawn already and I was going to go find us some food. When I return we can talk if you'd like."
"Okay." Still trembling from the nightmare.
[System] "Precognition unlocked. You now have the ability to see future events before they happen. With immense dedication you can control when this ability activates but until then it's random."
Haru returned with food, handed me a plate, and sat down next to me. I started eating without saying anything. When I was done I looked over at Haru, my eyes glazed over in thought.
"Did you want to talk, Natsuki?"
"I had a terrible precognition event." I explained what happened and a sense of worry coated Haru's face.
Haru hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear, "Everything will be okay."
"I swear I won't let anything happen to you Haru."
A small smile appeared on Haru's face. I should go look for that cave system. I need to put a stop to the Shaman Mage and its army.
"Please look after the village."
"I will. Please be careful."
I smile and head out. I went looking for the cave system. The Chief said it was nearby but didn't say in which direction. Still uneasy about the precognition event, I wanted to hurry. I used Speed Burst to quickly look around. I ended up finding a small entrance in the side of a grassy hill overgrown with branches and thorns. I tried clearing them away but was blocked by some sort of barrier. I took out my sword and slashed the entrance. The barrier dissipated and I cautiously made my way inside.
Once inside all I could think about was destroying every last goblin. I calmed myself down and leveled my head as I made my way through the cave system. I took my time making sure to be extremely thorough. It wasn't long before I spotted a goblin patrol making their rounds. I quickly hid down a side tunnel and slowly followed the patrol hoping it led me back to the rest of them.
It felt like I'd been tailing the patrol for hours when the path opened up into a huge arena deep within the world. I waited behind in order to observe what they were doing. Inside the arena goblins were fighting prisoners for sport. Overlooking the fights was the Shaman Mage sitting on a throne of corpses. Soon after the Shaman Mage stood up and stopped the fights.
"Looks like we have an unwanted guest."
Did that Feral Beast just speak?
"Stop hiding already and show yourself!"
I walked into the arena surrounded by a goblin army. They all stood there, weapons drawn ready to strike as soon as the order was given.
"Are you enjoying the fights?"
"How are you able to speak? You're not a normal Feral Beast are you?"
"Very perceptive of you. I'm one of the four generals of the great Chaosclaw. Once my lord is awakened we will enslave this world again"
"I won't let that happen!"
"Hahaha! Just because you defeated a few of my goblins you think you can stop me?"
"Regardless of how big your army is, I will slaughter every last one and then I will kill you. I won't let Chaosclaw be awakened back into this world."
"That's some mighty big boasting you're doing Fox. I will make you a deal then. If you manage to kill my entire army then I will give you the pleasure of fighting me."
I unsheath my sword and take out the closest goblins.Problem was there were over 500 goblins all ready for the order to be given to attack.
"This has been an interesting conversation. Hopefully you survive so we can talk again. KILL HER!"
The Shaman Mage turned around and walked deeper into the cave system. The goblins started swarming from all directions. I knew from the outcome if I failed to kill the Shaman Mage. If my precognition was right I had to hurry or everybody was dead. The arena was big but not big enough to use Speed Burst. I could use my Aura but I had to be careful. If I cause too much lightning to form I could collapse the entire cave system on top of me. What should I do?
