Alright, I can have yours since you aren't interested" she said and waved her had and grabbed Vivian's lunch tray which she brought closer to her.
"Bon appetit" Vivian said and walked out of the restaurant. It's a french word used to tell someone to enjoy his or her meal. Vivian knew how to speak French a little not that she learnt the language from school but from her mum , Camille. Her mum was from paris and as well grew up there but as soon as she married Charlie she had to move to New York City and start a new life with her new family.
As she grew up, her mum taught her some french words, they also watched french cartoons and they would at times interact in French and this she found so much fun. The thought of this would make her smile, it was like the most memorable experience she had as a child.
Vivian crossed the road and walked into the restaurant with her hands in her pocket. She looked around the restaurant and it was quite full. She then saw an empty table where she walked to and had a seat.
"Now, what do you guys have?" She asked herself as she picked the menu card which was just on the table.
As she was going through the menu she was interrupted by a gentle, make voice.
"Excuse me, miss." He called for her attention and this made her look up to the guy before her.
"Can I join you?" He asked with a smile and she nodded.
"Yes, you can" she replied and smiled back.
"He's quite handsome" she said in her head as she stole a glance at him and continued what she was doing.
"I'll have sesame chicken fried rice" she answered and the waitress nodded before he turned to the other customer who just ordered a cup of coffee.
"I'll be right back" the young lady informed the two customers and left. Vivian decided to keep herself busy with her phone which she brought out of her pocket and got busy with it.
As time passed her meal wasn't served but as for the young man, his cup of coffee was already right in front of him.
"What's with this waitress" she said to herself but didn't know she voiced out to the hearing of the young man who sat opposite her. She was really annoyed
He looked up at her and smiled, the young lady must really be hungry. He then looked at the waitress who took their order, she was busy attending to another customer.
"Excuse me?" He called her attention and as soon as she got to the table Vivian was the first to throw her a question. She didn't mind who called her first beside the young man already has his cup of coffee right in front of him.
"What's with my order. Why haven't I seen my lunch?" She asked angrily.
"I'm really sorry ma but there was some kind of delay in the kitchen. Your food would be served soon.
"Soon? And how soon will that be? " She asked.
"Very soon. I'm really sorry for the delay" the waitress apologized and turned over to the young man who had called her earlier.
"How may I help you sir?"
"I'm pretty annoyed that the customer before me hasn't been served her meal after thirty minutes of placing an order. Is that right?" He asked in an authoritative yet calm voice which got the both ladies surprised. He just sounded as if he owned the restaurant.
"The meal would be served soon...." She was still talking when a middle aged man walked up to them after he had noticed the conversation between the waitress and the customer has taken longer than expected.
"Excuse me, Clara what is going on" he asked as he cleared his throat.
"My meal has..." Vivian was about to complain when the young man stopped her by saying he would take care of the matter.
"A customer placed an order thirty minutes ago and till now, she hasn't been served. Is that right Mr Smith" The young man asked as he removed his glasses which was probably medicated and dropped on the table.
"Mr Miller...I mean sir?" He asked in shock. He didn't expect their boss to come today of all days. He usually didn't come unless he wanted to have a brief meeting with the chefs and the manager but today he was just seated like a customer.
"Did I stutter?" He asked and the man shook his head.
"I'm so sorry sir I'll have the food served immediately" he said with fear in his voice. He really hoped that the boss wouldn't fire him but instead pardon him.
"You should" he said as he waved his hand indicating they could leave the table. The little scene didn't go unnoticed by the other customers there.
"That was cool. I mean I had no idea you were the owner of this place" Vivian couldn't help but say after she saw how he spoke to the staffs on her behalf.
"I'm just trying to make things run smoothly" he said and then apologized.
"I'm really sorry for the inconveniences".
"That's not a problem, I can..." She was still talking when her stomach growled which was obviously loud enough for the man sitting opposite her to hear.
"I'm really sorry about that" she apologized immediately as she covered her stomach with both arms and looked away. She was really embarrassed, of all times how could it be before this guy.
"It's okay" he said with a chuckle. The lady before him was obviously hungry and thinking that his staffs were delaying made him mad.
"They're here" he said to her as the waitress dropped the food before her.
"I'm really sorry ma" she apologized once again and left.
"I'm sorry once again" he apologized sincerely and this made Vivian chuckle.
"We've all be apologizing. Don't you find it funny?" She said and this made him laugh at what she said. He probably didn't notice it.
"Thanks for the meal" she then started to eat . Finally, her tongue could taste this wonderful meal.
