Chapter 8

"Tell me if you're not comfortable," Sir Cace said as I entered his car. It was quite dim inside, and all the windows were tinted.

"I'm okay..." I replied softly.

Sir Cace and I fell silent for a moment. He kept looking at me while I tried to distract myself, feeling increasingly anxious. The buses had left earlier. We still had two hours before reaching the campsite, but Sir Cace hadn't started the car yet.

"Sir..."

Sir Cace sighed before starting to drive.

"Do you like Elliott?" he suddenly asked out of nowhere.

I glanced at Sir Cace, but he kept his gaze straight ahead on the road. I followed his gaze. There were no other vehicles around, except for sporadic trucks we passed by.

"I already answered that, Sir," I replied, not knowing where to find the courage to look at him in his eyes, especially with Sir Cace suddenly looking at me.

It seemed like he still couldn't accept that Elliott liked me and planned to court me.
