Chapter 20 - Sixth Year

"Dear Petunia, how are you?

Know that I deeply regret not returning to England.

I'm very excited to finally be officially introduced as your boyfriend to your little siblings.

I only saw Lily in her first year, but she made an impression, in a certain way.

I wonder how she'll react—will she be excited, or could she dislike me?

You know, I'm excited to finally talk about you with my brothers. There's so much I want to tell them.

I want to tell them how incredible you are, and they are excited to meet you.

Somehow, my nieces and nephews found out that we're together, and they've been pestering me with letters.

Believe me, they're persistent. Have you started your Apparition lessons yet?"

.

Petunia was excited to meet Aster's family, but also worried they might not like her. Still, she didn't need to get nervous about it since they were going to change countries anyway.

After two months, the sorrowful atmosphere that had enveloped the castle began to fade. Those closest to the deceased still had a hint of sadness in their eyes, and even though Aurors were stationed in the village, many students didn't want to take the risk, and those who did visit didn't stay long. It was sad, but these were just the first repercussions of the conflict. The Daily Prophet had finally started to report information, albeit minimized and altered, but it was better than nothing.

Apparition was a very useful skill that Petunia longed to master, and she had never been so thankful that her birthday was in January. She had already experienced it because Aster had made her try it—it was horrible, as she had vomited all over him—but there were no side effects on the second or third trip.

Interestingly, most adults preferred brooms, Floo powder, or Portkeys, but given the sensation, she understood the hesitation.

It wasn't free—she had to pay six galleons for the class, which was a bit expensive, and she realized that some of the poorer students couldn't afford it. Speaking of money, she would need to ensure Severus had the funds to take the class.

Petunia had considered asking Aster to teach her how to Apparate, but she changed her mind when she discovered how dangerous it was to learn without a healer nearby.

Normally, only the headmaster could Apparate within the Hogwarts grounds, but for lessons, an exception was made, and it was allowed only within the limits of the main hall. It was strange to Apparate alone, and Petunia kept three D's in mind: Destination, Determination, and Deliberation.

But she still had some accidents during her first attempts. She lost her eyebrows, her shoes, and her toenails, which was a bit unsettling.

Other students had more serious accidents—Frank Longbottom had a splinching (loss of body parts) and separated his body from his legs, and the boy didn't even seem surprised by it. Sometimes Petunia noticed how differently wizards perceived injuries, since magic could heal almost any injury.

Eloise mentioned she had never had a sleepover, so one Friday night the four of them decided to have one. They painted each other's nails, and Petunia, being the only one with experience, taught the girls how to use makeup. Despite magic, most women weren't skilled enough and ended up having to go to a healer, and in places like the Ministry of Magic, it was prohibited to use magic that altered one's appearance. In many wealthy families' houses, there were barriers that dispelled any spells, so witches bought makeup from apothecaries and potion shops.

"So, you and Asterion Weasley are dating? I knew you liked someone, but a long-distance relationship is surprising," Said Gwen, as she unsuccessfully tried to replicate a French braid in Pandora's hair.

"We've been exchanging letters since he graduated, but he only asked me out in August of last year," Petunia replied. "(It would be kind of wrong to say we're dating, as we're more like fiancés.) I wanted to keep it a secret in case he changed his mind, you know."

"Well, how was kissing the Weasley?" Asked Gwen.

"It was weird the first time, but after that, it wasn't bad," Petunia replied.

"And have you two had s-e-x yet?"

"We didn't even have time or the opportunity to do that," Petunia said, and Eloise blushed while Pandora laughed. "But we will eventually." The two girls laughed, while Eloise turned even redder.

Gwen stopped laughing and asked, "Pandora, have you done it with your boyfriend?"

"Well, we tried, but we're always interrupted."

.

The Quidditch final was between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, and there was a moment when one of the beaters managed to knock James Potter off his broom, and Lily was dead worried about him, even though she knew he was unlikely to get hurt. It was actually cute, if he didn't have such a terrible personality.

Ravenclaw won 300 to 150, and the team took the cup. There was a celebration that lasted until dawn. Petunia even allowed herself to drink firewhisky, and honestly, it tasted horrible. She almost wanted to vomit after drinking it. She received two drunken confessions, and if anyone asked, she would say she didn't remember a thing.

At the end of the semester, after the exams, the Apparition test took place. Petunia was one of the first and passed on her first try. She was happy because this skill could save her life if something bad happened. Other students didn't do as well—one Gryffindor student failed because he lost half his eyebrows, and another lost his arm. The most ironic part was that they didn't even care about their injuries, as they were all healed with a spell.
