Chapter 106

Morrigan navigated through the darkened streets of Paris. The city, usually alive with lights and activity, is now a maze of abandoned vehicles and scattered debris.

She swerved to avoid a flipped car.

"Fuck," she said, narrowly missing a pile of metal that might have once been a motorcycle.

The sound of gunfire crackled in the distance, followed by the thunderous roar of what could only be mech weaponry. Morrigan pressed her foot harder on the accelerator, dodging between obstacles.

A sudden explosion lit up the sky to her left, illuminating the silhouettes of buildings against an orange glow. She instinctively ducked, though she knew the danger was still blocks away.

"Jean-Claude, you bastard," she growled, thinking of her brother and the chaos he'd unleashed on the city.
