Chapter 203: See? I Told You Humanities Were Easy to Fix!

After coming up with a study plan, Kanda Shuichi started organizing all the key points for first-year high school humanities subjects. Not just those—he also planned to go over elementary and middle school materials, just in case.

Who knew what kind of tricks the Class C students would pull? If they targeted topics that Class D's weaker students hadn't reviewed, that would be a disaster.

So Kanda Shuichi wasn't going to leave any gaps.

But since he was already helping Akito and the others, there was one more person he couldn't leave out.

*Knock, knock, knock!*

When he opened the door, Kamuro Masumi was standing outside, holding her school bag.

"You're here. Come in."

"Sorry for the intrusion."

Kamuro seemed to be in a good mood—after all, Kanda Shuichi was actually worried about her grades. Of course, the grades themselves didn't matter, but the fact that he was concerned about her did.

"Have a seat for now. I need to finish organizing these notes. There's tea in the fridge—there's ready-made oolong tea, or you can brew some with the tea leaves I bought. Help yourself."

After greeting Kamuro, Kanda Shuichi sat back down in front of his computer.

The school allowed internet access, but due to IP restrictions, students couldn't post anything online.

Right now, Kanda Shuichi was using the internet to gather materials. It was much faster than sorting everything out on his own.

"Got it. Shuichi, do you want a cup too?"

"Mm-hmm."

Kanda Shuichi, focused on organizing his notes, responded absentmindedly.

Meanwhile, Kamuro had already taken out some tea leaves and started boiling water.

As she waited, she sat on the floor, resting her upper body on the small table, her head tilted to the side as she watched Kanda Shuichi work. It made her feel oddly at peace.

After who knows how long, Kanda Shuichi finally finished sorting his notes. He rubbed his slightly sore eyes and stretched his stiff body.

When he turned his head, he saw that Kamuro had fallen asleep on the small table at some point. A freshly brewed cup of tea sat there, now completely cold.

He stood up, walked over, and picked up the cup, drinking it all in one go.

Yep, cold. She must've been asleep for a while.

Looking at her sleeping face, Kanda Shuichi smiled softly.

…

"Masumi, wake up. Masumi…"

He placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a gentle shake. Kamuro slowly woke up.

"Morning, Shuichi."

Morning? You must still be half-asleep.

After waking up, Kamuro stretched both arms above her head, showing off her figure without a care in the world.

"Are you awake now? If you are, let's eat first."

While she was sleeping, Kanda Shuichi had already set out his special tablecloth and prepared two servings of dinner.

"Uh… we were supposed to be studying, though."

Kamuro looked a little embarrassed but wasted no time grabbing her portion and digging in.

"So, what were you working on just now, Shuichi?"

"I was organizing notes for humanities subjects, from elementary school all the way up to first-year high school content."

Kamuro froze for a second.

"Shuichi… you're not expecting me to memorize all that, are you?"

"Is there a problem?"

"Well, you know I'm not exactly great at studying… memorizing all of it seems kinda…"

Her hesitant expression made Kanda Shuichi chuckle.

"Don't worry, I'll study with you."

"Oh, that's fine, then."

So all that hesitation just now was an act?

After finishing their meal, Kanda Shuichi didn't jump straight into the study plan. Instead, he had Kamuro bring out her past midterm and quiz papers.

That's when he realized—her academic level was actually worse than Sakura's. The two of them were pretty much at the same level of… mediocrity.

And yet, she didn't seem the least bit concerned, which made Kanda Shuichi want to knock some sense into her.

"Come to my room tomorrow at 8 PM. I'll tutor you."

"Huh? We're not starting today?" Kamuro tilted her head in confusion.

"Have you even checked the time?"

Kanda Shuichi was speechless.

Kamuro took out her phone to check the time.

22:25

After 11 PM, the school prohibited boys and girls from being in the same room. If they got caught, it would be serious. Kanda Shuichi didn't want to get Kamuro in trouble.

"I'll head out then. Bye, Shuichi."

After seeing Kamuro off, Kanda Shuichi felt like something was missing from his day.

Right, Kushida didn't show up today to vent her emotions. Did something happen?

The next day after school, Kanda Shuichi went to find Chabashira-sensei before class started.

"Chabashira-sensei, could you help me print this? A4 paper, four copies."

"What is it?"

Chabashira looked at the USB drive Kanda Shuichi handed over, feeling a little curious.

"It's a summary of humanities subjects I put together to help tutor my classmates," Kanda Shuichi explained casually.

"Why don't you print it yourself?"

"Printing costs points, right? But teachers can print for free, can't they?" Kanda Shuichi said while glancing at the printer in the corner of the teacher's office.

"You're seriously trying to save points by making the school pay for it? Just how broke are you?" Chabashira Sae couldn't help but comment.

"No, no, I just don't feel like walking all the way to the shopping center. It's too far."

The other teachers who overheard their conversation twitched their eyebrows.

Broke?

Is there any first-year student richer than Kanda Shuichi?

He probably has more points than we teachers do!

Chabashira-sensei plugged the USB into her computer, opened the only file inside, and skimmed through it.

But the more she read, the stranger her expression became.

"Maybe this is unnecessary, but… who are you giving this to?"

"Akito, Hasebe, and Sakura. The last copy is for a friend in Class B."

"Don't you think this is way too much? There's only about a month left until the exam."

The Word document was packed with dozens of pages of dense text.

Some students might be able to fully grasp it within a month.

But if they needed to start from elementary school-level knowledge, that meant they weren't very good at studying, right? At least not in humanities.

And you expect them to memorize all of this in just a month?

Are you crazy, or am I?

"I have my own way to handle this, so there's no need for you to worry about it, Chabashira-sensei."

Chabashira Sae was curious about what Kanda Shuichi had in mind, but she didn't ask. After all, there were other teachers around.

"There's a lot of material. Come pick it up after your next class."

"Thanks, Sae-chan."

When he needs something, it's "Sae-chan." When he doesn't, it's "Chabashira-sensei." You're really something, Kanda Shuichi! Damn you!

After the first class ended, Kanda Shuichi went back to the teacher's office and picked up a thick stack of printed materials from Chabashira-sensei.

"Thanks, Chabashira-sensei."

As she watched Kanda Shuichi walk away, Chabashira Sae's eyebrows twitched nonstop.

After school, Kanda Shuichi met up with Miyake, Hasebe, and Sakura again and headed to Palette.

When Kanda Shuichi pulled out the massive stack of materials, all three of them were stunned.

"Shuichi, what is this? Don't tell me..."

"That's right, it's exactly what you're thinking." Kanda Shuichi smiled at Miyake. "Memorize all of this before the test starts. No problem, right, Akito?"

Kanda Shuichi was smiling?

No, that was clearly the grin of a devil!

Seeing his expression, even Hasebe Haruka started to regret coming. If she had known, she wouldn't have joined in.

Among the three, only Sakura was quietly encouraging herself: I won't let Kanda down!

"Alright, if you need coffee, go get some. If you need the bathroom, go now. We'll start in ten minutes. If you want to run away, this is your last chance."

As he spoke, Kanda Shuichi deliberately glanced around at them.

"Hah! Like I'd run away." Miyake puffed out his chest. "I'm just gonna use the bathroom real quick."

"Then I'll grab a coffee. Memorizing stuff burns a lot of sugar, after all." Hasebe Haruka was the second to leave.

For someone who's bad at humanities, she's surprisingly good at biology—at least she knows studying burns a lot of sugar.

Sakura, on the other hand, had already started going through the materials Kanda Shuichi prepared.

Now that's a good student. She just doesn't have the right study methods.

Ten minutes later, Miyake and Hasebe returned, but both of them looked a little pale.

A stack of material as thick as a book was enough to make them hesitate.

Seeing their reactions, Kanda Shuichi nodded in satisfaction.

"Alright, since you didn't run away, I'll give you a little reward."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out three candies wrapped in foil.

"What's this?"

"Candy. I guarantee you've never had it before."

Kanda Shuichi spoke in a mysterious tone.

"I want one! I want one!"

Before Kanda Shuichi even finished speaking, Hasebe had already grabbed one, unwrapped the foil, and popped it into her mouth.

"Mm~ So sweet!"

Seeing Hasebe's delighted expression, Miyake and Sakura thanked him before putting the candy into their mouths as well.

"Alright, you've had your candy. Time to study."

Hearing this, Miyake and Hasebe immediately looked disappointed, but Sakura was excited. She eagerly picked up her textbook and started reviewing.

Seeing Sakura like that, Miyake and Hasebe frowned but still forced themselves to go through the study notes Kanda Shuichi had prepared.

The more they studied, the more excited they became. The things they could never remember before were now sticking in their minds effortlessly.

About ten minutes later, Miyake looked up at Kanda Shuichi with a face full of disbelief. Even his voice was shaking.

"Hey, Shuichi, I think I've awakened a photographic memory superpower!"

"I feel the same way..."

"M-Me too..."

Seeing the three of them staring at him with shining eyes, Kanda Shuichi just gave them a skeptical look.

"Yeah, sure, you're all superpowered geniuses."

"If you have time to joke, why not use it to memorize the stuff you're bad at?"

In reality, the memory candy wasn't that powerful. It boosted memory, but it didn't grant perfect recall. Plus, the effects varied from person to person.

They were just overwhelmed by how fast they were absorbing information, which made them feel like something magical had happened.

Still, the candy's effect lasted long enough for them to get most of the material memorized.

As long as they reviewed these notes a few more times, they would be fully prepared for the exam.

Seeing that Kanda Shuichi wasn't convinced, Miyake got frustrated and buried himself in the study notes again.

Just wait, Shuichi! I'll make you eat your words!

Watching Miyake studying so hard, Kanda Shuichi smirked.

This was exactly the effect he wanted. If they didn't take studying seriously, those three precious memory candies would've gone to waste.

I only have a little over a hundred left, so you better make this count, Akito!

Meanwhile, Hasebe and Sakura had no idea the candy was responsible for their sudden improvement. They just assumed it was because their potential had finally been unlocked after their first real study session.

Taking advantage of this momentum, the three of them dove headfirst into their studies.

Two hours later, they finally closed the study guides Kanda Shuichi had prepared, looking both satisfied and amazed.

"Shuichi! I memorized everything!"

"Me too!"

"M-Me too!"

Seeing the confidence—and slight disbelief—on their faces, Kanda Shuichi raised an eyebrow.

"Alright, let's test that."

He casually threw out a question, but before he could even finish, Miyake blurted out the answer.

"Hey, no fair! I knew that one too!"

A few minutes later, no matter what question Kanda Shuichi asked, all three of them answered perfectly.

"Could it be... that I'm actually a genius?" Miyake said with a dead-serious expression.

Oh sure, you're a genius. And so are those two next to you!

"What genius? It's probably just because the first time studying something always works best," Hasebe said, immediately bursting Miyake's bubble.

His serious expression crumbled in an instant.

"Then I'd better keep studying while the effect is still strong!"

With that, Miyake grabbed another textbook and kept going.

Seeing Miyake like that, Hasebe and Sakura followed suit.

There was no helping it—humans always feel satisfied when they gain something new, and knowledge is no exception.

People are naturally greedy, and actually filling your brain with knowledge can be addictive!

But as time passed, the three of them not only returned to normal memory levels but also started losing focus.

"Ugh, I feel like I crammed so much today... My head hurts."

Feeling like she couldn't study anymore, Miyake closed her textbook and flopped onto the desk. Hasebe was even more dramatic, leaning back in her chair and staring blankly at the café ceiling.

Only Sakura, despite her brain feeling sluggish, still tried her best to sit properly.

That was expected. Stuffing so much knowledge into their brains within two or three hours—feeling drained was completely normal.

"Alright, since you all studied efficiently today, I'll let you off the hook." Kanda Shuichi stood up. "That's it for today."

"Long live Shuichi..."

"Yeah... long live..."

"Ahh, finally."

As soon as Kanda Shuichi ended the study session, Sakura Airi couldn't hold on any longer and collapsed onto the desk as well.

After 8 PM, Kanda Shuichi repeated the same mental torture on Kamuro Masumi.

More than two hours later, Kamuro left Kanda Shuichi's room, rubbing her aching head. In just one day, she had memorized more than she had in an entire semester and now desperately needed time to process it all.
