Omake : Testing

Third POV:

"Alright, let's get started!" Zack said as he and Zelretch stood at the edge of Nature's Law.

Today, Zack and Zelretch begin testing prototypes for the Mystic Code that would help Earth and heal Gaia. The first model they created looked like a staff with a rainbow colored crystal at the top. The staff was stabbed into the ground and held in place.

"Activating the Mystic Code in three," Zelretch walked out of the border of Nature's Law, held his hand forward, and a magical circle appeared on top of it. "Two... One," the Magician twisted his hand, looking like he flipped a switch.

The crystal lit up and the Yggdrasil wood that made the staff seemed to be reacting. It began shaking slightly before-

*Boom!*

It exploded into dozens of pieces.

Zelretch and Zack looked at where the Mystic Code used to be before the Elemental turned to the Magician. "It lasted longer than I thought before it exploded."

"I know," Zelretch agreed.

"I honestly expected it to explode before you even got to turn it on," Zack added.

"Me, too," Zelretch chuckled.

Take 2:

"New Mystic Code test commencing," Zelretch stated, looking at the staff with the crystal being in the middle of it this time instead of the top.

"Hit it," Zack said.

Zelretch activated the Mystic Code. The crystal lit up like before. It kept getting brighter and brighter. Suddenly, it started flickering on and off before it went off completely.

And then it caught fire.

"Well, at least it didn't-"

*Boom!*

"... explode," Zack finished after the Mystic Code did he said it didn't.

Take 6:

"Alright, new test," Zack said as he and Zelretch looked at another staff. This one looked the same as the first but the crystal was star-shaped.

"Beginning test," Zelretch twisted his arm in the magical circle, activating the Mystic Code.

The Mystic Code began glowing and the glow was steady this time... however, the rainbow colors began spinning before they started shooting lasers everywhere.

"Whao!" Zelretch ducked, dodging one of the lasers before jumping into Nature's Law and hiding behind Zack.

"Shut it off!" Zack yelled, holding his arms up as the blasts struck his body.

Zelretch couldn't use his Magic inside the Reality Marble, as such he needed for a chance to escape from the blasts to do that.

That took a whole hour.

Take 9:

"Another day, another attempt," Zack commented.

Zelretch finished the last touches on their newest Mystic Code, which looked more like a cube with a rainbow colored crystal at it's core.

The Magician stepped back and activated the Mystic Code. The crystal inside the cube made from Yggdrasil wood came to life and the glow was steady this time. However, at a certain point, it it flared greatly and suddenly went out... before the wood around it turned to goo.

"How... how does that even work?" Zack turned to Zelretch for an explanation on what just happened.

The Magician shrugged.

Take 15:

"New test!" Zack cried out.

The new Mystic Code was another staff one, though that one had the crystal at the bottom half instead of the upper one.

"Commencing test," Zelretch activated the Mystic Code.

The Mystic Code lit up quickly... a little too quickly. It began shaking and shaking as the Crystal glowed brighter.

Before it shot off the ground like a rocket.

The Mystic Code kept going up and up before exploding in a shower of rainbow sparks.

"... Okay, that was a failure, but the fireworks it made were beautiful," Zack commented.

Take 28:

The new Mystic Code was one that looked like pole with a horn-shaped crystal on it at the top.

"Activate," Zack called out and Zelretch did so.

The crystal of the Mystic Code went on. Nothing odd happened. It did not explode or turn to goo or anything else. It simply glowed, which gave Zack and Zelretch hope.

Suddenly, music started playing.

The two stared at the Mystic Code before the Elemental turned to the Magician. "What's... What's going on?"

Zelretch walked closer to the Mystic Code, ran his hands over it, and studied it for a few moments. "Well... Apparently, this one doesn't draw in power from other dimensions. Instead, it just draws in sound."

"So, it's basically just a music player from across dimensions?" Zack asked and Zelretch nodded. "So, it's a failure."

Zelretch stepped back and they both looked at the Mystic Code. "Do you... want me to turn it off?"

"No, no. I'm liking this song," Zack replied, tapping his foot.

"Yeah, I think we'll keep this one," Zelretch stated, tapping his finger.

Take 43:

"I got a good feeling about this one," Zack commented, rubbing his hands together.

The new Mystic Code was made of of two staffs connected to one crystal. The two believed that two sources of Yggdrasil Wood would help stabilise the energy.

"Activating... now," Zelretch turned on the Mystic Code.

The crystal on the Mystic Code turned on and it seemed stable. After a few moments, it didn't show any negative reactions.

Suddenly, the Mystic Code began moving.

It ripped the staffs off the ground and used them as legs to stand straight. Zelretch and Zack just stared in surprise as the Mystic Code stood there.

The Elemental noticed the staff move one of its feet backwards. "Hey!" The Mystic Code stopped and

returned to its original position. However, it once again began moving backwards. "I said Hey!" The Mystic Code stopped again, but it didn't move back this time. Instead, it waited for a few seconds before it began moving backwards. "Don't you dare-" the Mystic Code turned around and began running away. "Goddammit!"

Creating a spear of metal, Zack hurled it at the Mystic Code's feet. It jumped just in the neck of time to avoid being struck down... only for the first spear to turn out to be a ruse for the second spear that broke the Mystic Code to pieces.

Zelretch and Zack looked at the Mystic Code turn to pieces before the former turned to the latter. "Is it wrong that I feel nothing for 'killing' something we just made?"

Zack shrugged. "I don't feel anything, but I'm literally heartless, so I might be the wrong person to ask."

Take ???:

"... Alright... Another test," Zack groaned as he and Zelretch looked at the new Mystic Code.

This one had the appearance of a tree with a crystal acting like a seed at the bottom.

"And... Activating," Zelretch turned on the Mystic Code.

The Mystic Code came to life and... it began pulsing with energy slowly.

"It's... working," Zelretch commented as his and Zack's eyes widened.

The Mystic Code kept steadily building up and absorbing energy... before it suddenly vanished in a flash.

Zelretch and Zack stared at where the Mystic Code used to be. "What just happened?" The Elemental asked.

"It... Teleported," Zelretch answered.

"To where?"

"I don't know."

"Don't you have clairvoyance?"

"I'm looking," Zelretch's eyes were glowing.

After a few moments, they stopped. "Well?" Zack asked.

"I can't find it," Zelretch replied.

"What do you mean you can't find it?"

"My clairvoyance isn't all-powerful, that was my teacher."

"Didn't he teach you anything about how to use clairvoyance?"

"No. He was too busy with his one-thousand wives."

"I- Wait, why would he even care about them? He was literally emotionless?"

"He didn't, but women apparently love the emotionless man type."

That argument lasted five hours.
