Chapter 22 : The Angel on the Field

Sharon’s POV

Life had a funny way of flipping the script just when you thought you'd read the last page. Not long ago, it felt like the world was crashing down around me not long ago. Losing our team’s sponsor had been a nightmare. I had almost given up—almost. But there I was, standing in front of the same baseball field that had witnessed my lowest moments, watching as the boys warmed up for practice under the early morning sun.

The familiar scent of freshly cut grass and the sound of cleats crunching against the dirt brought a sense of calm I hadn't felt in a long time. It was supposed to feel good to be back in my old routine. After all, the nightmare was over. Douglas had pulled some strings, called in a favor from the William Company, and saved us from losing everything. The team was back on track, and everyone was treating me like some kind of hero for securing the sponsorship. But it didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel deserved.
