Chapter 23 : Regrets

Sharon’s POV

I stood by the field, leaning against the wooden railing separating the stands from the baseball diamond. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the grass, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of freshly cut grass. Around me, a small group of guys hovered, each vying for my attention in their own way.

"Come on, Sharon, you have to admit, my catch was pretty impressive," one of the guys grinned, leaning in a bit closer with a playful glint in his eye. "I mean, I practically flew through the air! If baseball doesn’t work out, I might have a future as a superhero."

I laughed, shaking my head.

Another player responded wittily, "A superhero, huh? What’s your superpower? Dropping the ball at crucial moments?"

The group burst into laughter, and the guy who had spoken first clutched his chest in mock pain. "Ouch! That’s cold, man. Sharon, I thought you were supposed to be on my side."
