Chapter 77: Untie The Heart Knot

As the evening unfolded after the swift Gym Challenge, Ash and his friends emerged from Cerulean Gym, feeling a mixture of triumph and camaraderie.

They walked towards Misty's home, where her sisters had graciously invited them for dinner. However, amid the festivities, Brock walked a little lost in thought, his usual charm dimmed.

"Why... why... why…" he muttered to himself, drifting down the bustling streets. The vibrant sounds and sights around him felt muted, as if the world had lost all its color.

"Honestly, I never imagined Brock could be this way," Misty remarked, glancing back at him with an expression of bemusement, a hint of pity in her voice.

Until now, her experiences with Brock at Mt. Moon hadn't fully unveiled the true extent of his infatuations.

"Yeah, he really seems to turn into a different person around girls," Ash replied with a mixture of amusement and concern.

Although he knew Brock was an exceptional person in many ways, his infatuation with beautiful women often led him to behave in peculiar ways.

Meanwhile, a tension lingered in the air between Ash and Misty. While they chatted casually, their exchanges felt a bit stilted, mostly due to earlier confrontations in the Gym. Misty would occasionally sneak glances at Ash but quickly averted her eyes whenever they met.

Pikachu, nestled between the two, let out a small sigh, his little head shaking as he observed their awkward dynamic. He wished that both of them could express their feelings without hesitation, knowing they cared for each other deeply.

As the group found a restaurant with a good reputation in the Shopping District to grab lunch, the spell of awkwardness slowly began to lift. The afternoon turned into a lighthearted adventure filled with laughter and shared memories, bridging the gap that had formed between Ash and Misty.

While shopping and exploring, Misty felt genuine warmth returning to her relationship with Ash and found herself daydreaming about their future.

While they may not be officially together as lovers, she couldn't help envisioning a bond that could evolve into something more profound.

A future where perhaps they would have children, sharing both their adventures and responsibilities—a family of their own.

As night fell, the Cerulean Gym marked its closing time at five o'clock.

Behind the Gym stood Misty's small two-story home, cloaked in the ambiance of blooming flowers and creeping vines that painted a picturesque scene, warm and inviting.

"I'm back…" Misty called as she opened the door, noticing the silence of the empty corridor. She slipped off her shoes and fetched guest slippers for Ash and Brock from a nearby cabinet.

"Excuse us," the duo murmured as they donned the cozy footwear, feeling at home.

Just then, Lily burst into the living room, skipping past Misty, her gaze fixated on Ash and Brock. "Oh, you're finally here?"

Her attention was primarily on Ash, as Brock felt himself fading into the background.

With a heavy sigh, Brock watched his chance vanish, resigned to the reality that his attempts to win over one of the three sisters were in vain.

"Hi, excuse me…" Ash nodded at Lily, presenting the shopping bag filled with goodies they had picked up earlier.

"Why act so polite?" Lily teased, giving Misty a knowing look before giggling behind her hand. "Did you come to meet the parents or something?"

"Why would I do that?" Misty shot back, recovering from her earlier embarrassment as she playfully returned Lily's gaze.

In the open-concept kitchen just behind the living room, Violet and Sakura recognized Misty's presence from her footsteps.

"Welcome back!" they said, their backs turned but their voices warm.

As Misty approached the kitchen, she was greeted by a sight that choked her up with emotions—an array of her favorite dishes adorning the table.

She paused and felt a surge of gratitude.

Realization struck her; she had spent so long focused on her own challenges that she hadn't fully appreciated what her sisters had done for her.

They had worked hard to maintain the Cerulean Gym, pouring love and care into whatever they did, especially for her.

"Thank you… sister…" Misty said, tears brimming in her eyes as she addressed them.

Sakura, Violet, and even Lily halted at Misty's heartfelt gratitude, momentarily frozen.

The warmth of the moment was palpable, but it soon shifted playfully as Sakura teased, "Thank you! We didn't make this for you; it's for Ash!"

But seeing the tears in Misty's eyes, Sakura couldn't help but gently tap her forehead, an affectionate gesture that drew a smile from Misty.

Misty didn't pout or sulk this time; instead, she smiled back, feeling embraced in love and support from her sisters.

"Come on, Ash, have some juice!" Lily insisted, breaking the emotional moment as she pulled Ash toward the dining table, apparently oblivious to the bond forming between he and Misty.

"That's right! You all must eat a lot; we prepared plenty!" Violet added, her enthusiasm infectious, while Misty's face shifted, a flash of annoyance crossing her features.

"Misty, wait!" she exclaimed, rushing over to assert her claim and interjecting herself between Ash and her sisters, glaring playfully at Ash.

Amidst this—Brock, still standing at the door, couldn't help but feel envious of the easy closeness shared between the sisters and Ash.

The feelings of wanting companionship tugged at him as he stood watching the scene unfold before him like a play.

The evening transitioned into an exquisite mélange of laughter, heartwarming stories, and the delicious scents wafting from the kitchen.

As they finally began to eat, Misty stole stealing glances at Ash, feeling a sense of intimacy creeping in with each soft, shared smile.

Even though the heart knots between them remained, the journey ahead seemed less daunting than before.

They had taken a step closer to unraveling their emotions, an unspoken understanding growing within them—a bond that suggested this was merely the beginning of their story.
