Chapter 48: The Fighter

Although Ash's explanation left Lorelei and Tracey somewhat skeptical, it was clear that it was Ash's secret, and they chose not to probe further.

"It seems your talent has far more potential than anyone has realized," Lorelei remarked, letting out a soft sigh as she studied Ash.

At just eleven years old, Ash had already achieved feats most trainers could only dream of.

Many trainers his age were still struggling to master the basics of Pokémon training, let alone rivaling Elite Four members in combat.

Through their conversation, Lorelei deduced the truth behind Ash's current capabilities. He could potentially defeat Elite-level Pokémon, but his strategy relied on explosive power in brief moments.

Moves like Pikachu's electrifying thunder dragon and Snorlax's divine phantom strike carried immense risk—they drained the user of energy, leaving them vulnerable afterward.

Despite the risks, Ash's abilities were exceptional. Lorelei imagined how, as his Pokémon continued to grow in strength, the cost of using such powerful moves would decrease.

One day, these moves might become Ash's ultimate weapons, wielded effortlessly in battle. At that point, even Elite-level trainers might find themselves outmatched by him.

"What terrifying potential," Lorelei thought to herself, marveling at Ash's incredible progress.

In this world, only a rare few individuals possessed the talent to truly rise to greatness. These gifted trainers were called Fighters.

A century ago, after extensive research, the World Alliance and top professors discovered that certain trainers possessed extraordinary talents that set them apart from others.

These individuals exhibited rapid growth rates and high performance ceilings, often reaching elite status far earlier than their peers.

These "Fighters" shared a unique bond with their Pokémon, enabling rapid growth and development.

While factors like the natural talent of Pokémon played a role, the abilities of the trainer were the ultimate key. Fighters came in various types:

Specialized Fighters: Trainers with exceptional affinity for specific Pokémon types, like Steven's connection to Steel-types or Wallace's bond with Water-types.

General Fighters: Trainers like Cynthia, whose talents allowed them to train any Pokémon with equal efficiency and achieve unparalleled growth rates.

This discovery explained how champions like Lance, Cynthia, and Steven rose to prominence at remarkably young ages.

The World Alliance quickly adapted their systems to encourage the discovery of more Fighters, offering generous benefits like free Pokémon Center services and financial subsidies to trainers at all levels.

Lorelei had long suspected Ash was a Fighter. However, after witnessing his battle, she was convinced that his talent was on an entirely unprecedented level.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how far you can go," Lorelei said warmly, raising her teacup to Ash.

"I hope to see you in the Elite Challenge—or even the Championship Challenge—someday. When that happens, I'd love the chance to battle you again."

Ash smiled confidently. "You will!"

Though Misty and Tracey were astonished by Lorelei's high regard for Ash, they couldn't deny his rapid growth and incredible talent.

Meanwhile, word of Ash's battle with Lorelei spread like wildfire. Fans, trainers, and even the highest-ranking members of the Regional Alliances turned their attention to the young trainer. Many were astounded by the extraordinary power he displayed.

Professor Oak, one of the leading researchers in the study of Fighters, had long suspected Ash of possessing this rare talent.

Watching Ash's growth confirmed his hypothesis. Similarly, the leaders of the various Leagues began to view Ash as someone of immense importance, a trainer with the potential to reshape the future of Pokémon battles.

However, not everyone viewed Ash's talent as a boon. Anti-Alliance organizations, including Team Rocket, also took notice of Ash's potential. Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, reviewed footage of Ash's battle.

"Divine moves, secret techniques like Aerial Ace, and this boy's terrifying growth rate," Giovanni muttered, deep in thought.

"If we can recruit him, Team Rocket could dominate the entire world within a decade."

But Giovanni knew that Ash's strength would make him a formidable enemy if they couldn't bring him to their side.

Unless Team Rocket could harness the power of legendary Pokémon, Ash's talent might one day become their greatest obstacle.

For now, Ash remained unaware of the powerful forces observing his journey. With each step, his path as a trainer grew brighter, but so did the shadows looming around him.

Fighters are an extension of the Pokémon world lore. In this adaptation, the concept helps explain why certain trainers like Ash, Lance, or Cynthia are so powerful at such a young age.

It bridges gaps in logic, making the extraordinary feats of these trainers feel more grounded in the world of Pokémon.
