Chapter Thirty Nine & Forty
The doorbell rang for the fifth time and Eve had to leave the food she was eating while groaning. She frowned as she opened the door for whosoever wasn't invited to her house.
"Good morning. Miss-", The person who turned out to be a flower vendor said and looked at the name of his customer on his phone. "Good morning Miss Evelyn Centrion. Someone paid for this beautiful flowers to be given to you"
"May I see the sender?", Eve asked with a frown.
"Sure. Here", The vendor showed her the name of the person that placed an order and heard a scoff.
"Thank you", Eve said and took the flowers from him.
Who else would she be expecting? If not from Lex?!!
Alexius Gilbert!!!
His call came in immediately the vendor delivered the flowers. She rolled her eyes and answered his call.
"How did you get my number?", She asked.
"Good morning to you too", He said with his deep voice.
'Why are you talking like that?', Eve wanted to ask but she didn't. Why should she?
"Good morning", Eve said when she realized she didn't greet him.
"How was your night?", He asked.
"Fine", She replied and muttered under her breath, "I hope you had a terrible night"
"I did", He answered and she was confused.
"You what?"
"I had a 'terrible' night", He said and she heaved a sigh.
"That's weird", She said. "Isn't there any girl to keep you warm anymore? What about that girl? Was her name Love-"
"Did you get the flowers?", He asked.
"Yeah. Why did you send me some?"
"I thought of you"
"Think of your company Lex and send your workers some flowers"
Lex laughed when she said that. She also laughed when he laughed.
"So, what are you doing?", He asked.
"Eating", She replied. Why did they get too close for her to share such information?
"Have you…eaten?", She asked and he replied negatively.
"I would have prepared some breakfast for you but you're so far away", She laughed after saying that deliberately.
"Actually, I'm staring at your house from my car", He said dryly and she choked on her food.
Now he knows her fucking house?
It was her number before?
"No, you're not", Eve widened her eyes and refused to believe his prank.
"Come outside again. I'll love to see you in your pajamas once more", He laughed at her and she was red. He was really staring at her house but what does he mean by that?
"You've been there for how long?"
"For some minutes now"
"For how long?!"
"Half an hour", He said.
"Lex!!"
"Okay, more than an hour", He said honestly and she took a deep breath before going to open the door.
She walked out and saw his car with him in it. She frowned and watched him come out of it. Why the hell can't he just leave her alone?
What's the matter with him? Doesn't he have a company to run?
"You could have brought the damn flowers yourself and given them to me directly", She scolded him.
"So you can shut the door in my face?", He laughed.
She noticed that he has started laughing more of late.
"My mum will be here soon and will kill you if she sees us together", Eve said seriously.
Lex didn't say anything because he doesn't want to run faster than his shadow. All he knows is that her mom can never mom can never hate him again. And that's because she has given him permission to have Evelyn some time ago.
"Come in", Evelyn welcomed him to her home and stared at him. He was checking out her house.
"It's not that big because I like a comfy home", She was quick to ask.
"I didn't say anything", He put his hand into his pockets.
"How did you get my number?", She asked him.
"The principal gave it to me", He answered and added, "For us to communicate about the investment and how to go about it"
"And my address?"
"I had to make sure the vendor gave it to the right person", He said.
"What are you doing here? Don't you have a company to run?", She asked with her hands under her breasts.
Lex looked away from the place his eyes were tempting to look at.
"We need to talk about the investment now because after this morning, I'm afraid we won't be able to meet again or have anything like a zoom meeting because of my schedule", He said with a stern voice.
'What's with the damn voice?', Eve thought.
"My voice is quite nice", He said and Eve glared at him.
"Why did you read my thoughts? They are called 'thoughts' because it's private. Personal!!
"I wanted to know what you think of me", He said and began to walk towards her.
With every step forward, she took a step backward from him.
"Don't come any closer", She said when her back met the wall.
"Or what?", Their face were inches apart and he whispered into her ears, "You're so red"
Evelyn pushed him away with a look on her face. She rubbed her blush away but she looked so cute still.
"So, you're really here to talk about the investment. I know a nice place we can go to for the business discussion", Eve said.
"I have booked a place", He said quickly.
"Oh! You came prepared", She said with a little bit of sadness.
'Did he really come here to talk about business? I really thought he came here to see me or something. I must be going nut', Evelyn thought again and asked if he would also like to have breakfast.
"Yeah. I'm starving", He chuckled and watched her serve some food for him.
Evelyn kept stealing glances at him as they ate quietly.
'Why does he have to look so good?', She thought and began to stab her meat a little harder.
Lex stopped eating and looked at her. She kept muttering to herself and kept on rolling her eyes and doing weird things.
He paused and took a deep breath to listen to her.
'He think he can just decide to come here looking like what I don't know? Like who comes to a girl's home looking so hot early in the morning? Why do I even think he's hot? No! I'm over him! I can't like him again. I must stop this feelings that are growing for him and look for another man to grow it for'
He smiled when he heard that.
"And why are you smiling?", She asked him.
"Nothing", He said and kept a stern face.
"Good", She replied and quickly stood up from her seat when she heard the door close.
"Shit! My mom is here", She announced and dragged him up.
Lex watched her grab his hand and kept him in an empty room.
"I'll be back soon. I'm gonna have a quick bath and we'll leave in twenty. I'm so sorry but hold on. My mom must not see you in my house else I'm dead for real", She said with a very low voice and ran out of the room.
Lex watched her run and could only chuckle at her small frame.
He took out his phone to pass away the time until she comes back for him.

Evelyn clutched her purse and walked behind Lex to their seat. A waiter pulled out her chair and smiled at her. She also smiled at him and thanked him for his little gesture. He blushed as he skimpered away.
"Showing off your wealth, huh?", Eve asked and Lex chuckled.
"I'm glad I made the reservation", Lex said because to him. The set up was more of a date than a business meeting.
"Let me guess. You chased everyone out", Eve said.
"No. This is my restaurant and I had the staff not to let anyone on till I was done else they were fired", Lex said and Eve stared at him in shock.
No, she won't question him.
He should do as he please.
Eve cleared her throat and began to flip the pages of the menu book for a meal. She avoided Lex's eyes and asked the question that was on her mind, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
"On our way to this place, you told me you don't wanna hear anything from me except it was business like", He retorted and she scoffed.
"Fine"
"I'm single". He said and she pretended like she didn't hear what he said and raised her hand to order.
"I'd have this", She pointed at the most expensive meal.
The waiter took the book from her and left with her order.
"You're gonna go broke, Lex", She smiled sheepishly.
"That's why I always have my black cards", He said proudly.
"What do you mean by 'black cards'", Eve asked.
"I have many black cards not a black card, Evelyn. Do you want one?", He asked her and she shook her head immediately.
What the hell?
Black cards?
What is he?!!
"What's your net worth?", He asked and saw her typing on her phone furiously.
"You must be really silly if you believe that's my net worth", He saw her point at the answer the internet gave her concerning his net worth.
"Why the fuck should I have a net worth of twenty billion dollars?", He scoffed.
Evelyn swallowed her spit and looked at her suspiciously.
"Don't use that eyes on me. I can't tell you. I'll tell you when we get married", He winked at her and she smirked.
'In your dreams, asshole', She thought.
"I'll soon make that a possibility', He said and her chest heaved up in anger.
"Careful with those breasts. We don't want those bastards to stare at them, do we?", He asked and she turned red.
She looked around to make sure nobody heard him. It's all her fault? Why the fuck did she wear a strapless bra that has all her boobs and cleavage out?!
Why does it look like she's on a fucking date with him? Why does she look so pretty?!

"Shut up, Lex", She rolled her eyes and smiled sweetly at the waiter that has returned with her food.
He brushed her hand as he placed her food on the table.
"Enjoy your meal", He said.
"Thank you", She smiled and called him back.
"Do you have sponge cake here? I want it very soft and fluffy? Butter of course, though", Eve thought of Tim and decided to bring some for him.
"Sure", The waiter smiled and left.
"You like such?", Lex asked.
"Yeah. Tim also loves it", Eve answered.
"Josephine was a good friend", Lex spoke.
"Yeah she was"
"So, what about you?", Lex interrogated.
"What do you mean?"
"Are you saying anybody?", He raised his brow.
"Not yet but soon"
"Oh!", He said lowly and also raised his hand to place an order.

"You can open your eyes now, Raphael", Indigo said and watched Raphael open his eyes after a while.
"Do you like it?", She asked and moved away from the mirror for him to check out his makeup.
"When have I never liked your work?", He muttered and checked it out.
"Then", She started to pack her things. "I'll go call in the next person for your-"
"You've been avoiding me, Indigo", He spoke and looked at her.
She avoided his gaze and replied, "No, I haven't. I came today, okay?"
"Yes,you did only because I threatened to fire you", Raphael said.
"Is it because I kissed you that day?", He asked and she blushed.
Why can't she keep that memory out of her fucking head? It's just a silly kiss!
"I like you, Indigo", He confessed and pulled her into his laps.
She gasped and attempted to get up but he held her waist.
"Stop Raphael. Someone may come in", Indigo feared.
"They won't", He replied and began to kiss her neck.
Indigo gasped and began to moan. She quickly covered her mouth with her hands. Raphael laughed as she did that.
"It's okay. It's only me that will hear them", He continued to kiss her neck with his hands on her waist.
She held his hand and placed her lips on his before sliding her tongue into his mouth. His arms encircled on her waist as they continued to share a long, deep kiss till they were breathless.

Tim sat on his grandmother's lap and looked around the weird environment. Everywhere was beautiful and he was seeing other strange faces again.
He was passed to a beautiful woman and his head was placed on her breasts. He began to dose off when the noise was too much.
"I didn't know you would attend, Mary", Queen Rose said.
"I was bored so I had to come", Queen Mary replied.
"Your grandson is so cute. I never knew you had one", One of their close friends said. She was not a queen but they grew up together.
"Well, you know now", Queen Mary said.
"Ohh! He looks like her", One of the other queens present at the tea party said.
"Yes", Queen Mary smiled.
"I bet Evelyn would be so big if I see her next time"
"Not so big, Keelin. She's still my sweet little girl", Queen Mary spoke and they laughed.
"I heard that your son is now the king of Azariah. How is he coping with the kingdom affairs?", Queen Keelin asked.
"More than the way your son supposed to handle his own kingdom, Keelin", Queen Mary replied.
Queen Keelin and Queen Mary aren't friends. They are always on each other neck because of the littlest things. Well, Queen Rose won't want her party to be ruined by the two so she quickly intervened.
"Congratulations to King Jamal, Mary. I'm so happy for him", Queen Rose intervened.
"Congratulations to him"
"I would send him a gift"
"Wow. That's nice"
"He's a grown up now. What a responsibility?"
"Mary. Is it also true that your daughter rejected the position to be a queen?", The queen that doesn't speak said.
That was Queen Mirabel. She's always quiet and doesn't even add to anything they normally say unless they wanted her to speak.
The other queens gasped as they heard her ask that question.
"What?"
"Why?"
"She would have made a good queen"
"Ahh! It seems like it's only my husband that heard the rumor. He shared it with me this morning so I thought I should ask you", Queen Mirabel said.
"Is it true?"
"My daughter isn't ready to be a queen. She will tell me when she's ready to ascend the throne. Besides, she's also contributing to her kingdom and making herself useful as a princess of Azariah", Queen Mary spoke and the queens began to clear their throat and straighten their backs.
It was clear that Queen Mary was indirectly insulting the lot of them. Most of their children didn't turn out to the perfect like hers but worse than the devil's apprentices.
"That's wise of her", Queen Keelin chirped in.
"Queen Pearl wanted you all to know that she had to travel this morning. Her daughter fell into labor this morning so she had to be there. She won't make it for the party and is sending her love", Queen Oprah announced.
"OMG! Congratulations to her. When is the ceremony?", Queen Keelin asked.
"Isn't that a Samsung in your hand?", Queen Oprah asked.
"Yes", Queen Keelin smiled and deliberately raised up her phone to show everyone. "I just bought the latest model of Samsung"
"That's good. And you have Pearl's number didn't you?", Queen Oprah asked.
Queen Keelin rolled her eyes and said, "Fine. I'll ask her myself"
"That's what I thought", Queen Pearl hissed.
"That's a virtue in minding one's business. If you have minded your business since you were born, maybe God would be merciful enough to open your womb", Queen Mary said with a low voice but people heard her and gasped one after the other.
"What did you say, Mary?", Queen Keelin roared.
"What did you hear, Keelin?", Queen Mary asked.
"I need some air", Queen Keelin stood up with anger and walked out of the place.
"Let her be. She will be back soon", Queen Rose took a deep breath.
"That reminds me. My daughter went to your daughter's opening. She said it was so cool and nice. I wished I went", Queen Jade spoke up.
"I watched mine on the news", Queen Mary said.
"Really? I never asked anything about that. I should send her a gift. Congrats", Another queen added.
"Given how close you both are, I thought your children would go, Mary", Queen Oprah said.
"Yes"
"Me too"
"Well, Evelyn showed up. Raphael invested in her business while Jamal sent a gift", Queen Mary said.
"That's so sweet. Your children are so perfect. Mine know nothing more than to ask me and my husband for money to buy expensive items", Queen Jade said sadly.
"You need to disciple them, Jade. How would they take care of the kingdom if they're like this now?", Queen Keelin said as she was approaching.
Queen Mary sighed as she heard her voice and foot steps. Queen Rose placed her hand on that of Mary and told her to not say anything.
"That reminds me. I need to go visit my dentist soon. I've been having a serious toothache that wants to claim my life with every pain", Queen Mirabel said.
"So sorry, Mira", Queen Rose said and the other queens said the same.
"Princess Elizabeth, Queen Pearl's daughter, gave birth to a boy", Queen Keelin said and they all smiled and said good things.
"Speaking of Elizabeth", Queen Mirabel paused and had their attention on her.
"I saw that witch at my late son's grave", She concluded and they gasped.
They looked at Queen Rose for confirmation.
"My ex-apprentice?", Queen Rose asked and Queen Mirabel nodded.
"She's up to something evil", Queen Mirabel added.
"Why would you say that?", Queen Keelin gasped.
"She's a freaking witch, Keelin. And why would she summon my son from his grave to talk to him with a dull looking man. He looked like a vampire", Queen Mirabel hissed.
"Salvatore", Queen Mary said under her breath.
"Elizabeth, long time no see", Queen Rose said with wrath and stood up when she saw Elizabeth appear at the door.
