3RD POV
***************************
When Lin Xuan awoke, he was covered in a thick layer of sweat that had drenched his clothes, wetting them slightly. His body lacked the energy to even lift a hand in the air.
He sighed staring at the ceiling. Wondering how he had ended up like this.
But when the answer came, he blushed beet red and rolled over to his side with closed eyes. "That bastard! What did he do to me?"
He was at least still clothed and there were no sore parts on his body that would have given away any violation. The only spot that had a little ache was the left side of his neck, where the white-haired demon had fed from.
He forced his fingers to feel the place but was met with a thin bandage that wound around his neck to cover up the punctures left behind. "Let us never meet again, demon. Ah! I should leave as soon as possible."
####################
The carriage he had hired dropped him off up the mountain at the foot of the long wide stairs that led up to the gigantic gates piercing the clouds with pride.
The sun was already starting to sink in the west, kissing the clouds with all shades of red and orange to create hues that were pleasing to stare at.
But the chilly breezes made the goosebumps form and his insides tremble.
'This is what he meant by the cold mountain?'
Wasting no more of the little time left, Lin Xuan began pulling his heavy box one step at a time. But after the sixth, his heavy breathing sounded like his chest was about to explode and the sweat all over his face only made the cold air cling to his body.
He plopped his ass on a step to regain his breath.
Looking up at the hundreds of steps left, his heart shrunk and fell in his stomach.
How would he cover so much distance with this heavy thing? He glared at the box and kicked it, but hurt his toe in the process.
"Ow! Ow!"
While massaging his throbbing toe, a pair of white shoes and a white dress filled his vision. "Huh?"
He slowly moved his eyes up to the person who had appeared out of nowhere until he met the pair of blue eyes. Lin Xuan jerked sideways recognizing the demon who had almost killed him. "You...you..."
"We meet again."
Unlike before, the man's white hair was now a glossy black color held half up by a white cuff, fully revealing his handsome features.
But all Lin Xuan saw when he looked at him was their last encounter when he had experienced an erection in the demon's hands.
The memory made Lin Xuan blush in complete embarrassment. He turned his head away clearing his throat. "Why...why are you following me?"
"Following you?" He leaned down, using his finger to turn Lin Xuan's chin to himself. "You should have told me you're coming here."
"Why?"
Grinning, the man answered, "So I could kill you away from here."
Lin Xuan instantly felt the cold fear enveloping his organs, and it was not coming from that atmosphere but rather from the attractive man in front of him.
"But...we....why?"
"Because," the demon paused to leave even closer until his lips brushed Lin Xuan's earlobe, "you know my secret. No one here knows it, so how can I keep you alive, hm?"
Lin Xuan swallowed his saliva with some difficulty.
"But, if you agree to make a deal with me, I'll spare you, and even protect you. What do you say?"
"A d...deal? What deal?"
The demon straightened and brought forward a black fan with a red tassel. Lin Xuan stared at it wide-eyed. "Why do you have that? I thought I lost it."
He had looked for it for about thirty minutes back at the room he had awoken in. In the end, he concluded that he must have forgotten it back at the cave.
"I liked it, so I took it."
"Give it back!" Lin Xuan ordered getting up.
He dashed to grab it, but the demon raised his hand.
If Lin Xuan wanted to grab it, he had to jump. But doing so at such a place might cause him to slip and slam on the hard steps, split his head open, and, die.
He didn't want to die over a fan so he gave it up. "Whatever."
"About the deal... All I'll need from you in exchange for your life will be, your blood. What do you say? Are you willing to trade your blood for your life?"
Lin Xuan didn't answer right away. He turned around and dived into his thoughts.
Sure, he could summon Liang Yi to fight the demon, but he didn't want to be too dependent on Liang Yi. This would make him lose any faith in his capabilities.
What was a little blood?
Besides, if he took this deal, maybe this demon would be useful to him within the sect. After all, it was a new world he was about to step into.
After a minute and a half, Lin Xuan faced the demon. "Only my blood, right?"
"Yes, xiaodi, only your blood. It's always such a hassle to go down the mountain every week to feed. If I can have a supplier within the walls, that would save me so much trouble."
Lin Xuan took a sharp inhale before stretching his right hand. "Then, okay. But don't take too much like you did."
Smiling, the demon took Lin Xuan's hand and shook it gently before turning it upside down to study the back of his hand. "You're from a rich family. Broken dantian. Soft features and no way to defend yourself. Are you the new library assistant who was to arrive in three days?"
Lin Xuan gasped. "Is the news already made public?"
"No, no, no. I just have my ears everywhere." The demon grinned releasing Lin Xuan's hand. "Your father paid quite a lot to get you in, so be careful, xiaodi. You're about to enter a predatory field."
"What do you mean?"
He fanned himself, hiding the grin with it and just walked past Lin Xuan.
"Wait! Could you help me-"
A snap of his fingers was all it took to make the box disappear.
"Try to keep up or your trash will be tossed down the steps."
"Could my luck get any worse?" Lin Xuan mumbled to himself before turning to go after the demon. "What's your name?"
