"Kaitlin, come on in and have a seat," David said as he emerged from his office and ushered her in.
"Hello, David. It is good to see you," Kaitlin said, "I wish it were under other circumstances but life is unpredictable."
"Yes, that's true. Come take a seat; I have the papers ready for you to sign," David said as he pulled the documents out of the desk drawer. Kaitlin knew that dealing with the divorce would be a process, but hopefully, she wouldn't have to sign anything after this, and she would be ready to go.
"I know that divorce proceedings take some time to finalize, but I have to leave the country, and I don't know when I will be returning or if I will be returning at all," Kaitlin said.
"Once you sign these papers, we should be okay, but if you want, we can draft a letter of attorney. That way, if there is anything that we need to take care of by you signing, I can represent you and deal with it properly," David said.
"Yes, that will work out well for me," Kaitlin said smiling at David.
David got up from his chair and went to talk to his secretary. In less than 20 minutes, David and his secretary walked back into the office with new documents for Kaitlin to sign. "You guys are fast," Kaitlin remarked.
"I think of it more as efficient than anything else," David said, smiling and placing the paper in front of Kaitlin. "You will need to sign this paper, and Gloria here will be doing the notification of the document."
"I knew that it was a good idea to come to you," Kaitlin said as she took the pen from the desk again and signed the paperwork.
"Okay, with this, if anything else comes up, I will be able to represent you without you having to show up," David said as he collected the papers after I had finished signing.
Kaitlin's phone buzzed before she could answer. She picked up her phone from the desk in front of her and looked at the incoming message. It was another picture of Samuel with his first love standing next to him, smiling. Kaitlin's facial expression rapidly changed to one of disgust, before she could change it David noticed.
"Is everything okay sweety," David asked concern covering his face.
"Yes, everything is fine, just a weird picture that someone sent me," Kaitlin said as she closed her phone back up and placed it in her bag. "I don't mean to run after you have just helped me but there are a lot of things that I still need to do before I can move.
"Do not worry, sweety, take care of yourself, and hopefully when you are all settled in the future you can come to dinner at the house," David said as he got up to follow Kaitlin out the door.
"Thank you once again, and hopefully, in the future, I will take you up on the invitation," Kaitlin said she gave David one last hug.
They both waved goodbye bey, and Kaitlin headed out into the city, she knew that this was not going to be easy after all she was giving up on the person that she had come to love with all her heart. But with the news of the new life growing inside her, she knew that she had to leave and give her baby a happy home.
"Kaitlin, I have everything ready if you are ready I will take you to the airport right now. The flight leaves in the next two hours," Alina said.
"Okay, I am ready, you got my suitcase from your house," Kaitlin said.
"But of course, I got your bag," Alina said, "I will get you all checked in, and in a couple of days once things settle down here, I will go see you."
"Okay sounds like a plan," Kaitlin said as she turned from Alina toward the road outside of the car.
