The End of an Area

"Okay, please text me when you land," Alina said as she helped Kaitlin take her bag out of the car.

"As soon as I get a new phone, I will let you know because there is no way I am taking these things with me," Kaitlin said as she pulled out her phone. "I don't want to run the risk of Samuel trying to find me."

Alina shook her head and took Kaitlin's phone away. "You don't worry about this old phone; I will take care of it," she said. She then pulled out a new phone and handed it to Kaitlin. This will be your new phone."

"You are a god sent you have prepared everything," Kaitlin said as she hugged Alina.

"Now, come on. You will upset my little niece or nephew," Alina said, returning the hug. After a couple of minutes, Alina pulled away. If at any point you feel bad, you call me. I will be there as fast as it is humanly possible.

Kaitlin smiled and nodded her head in agreement. "I will catch you later." Kaitlin headed inside the airport to take her flight.

Alina watched her go into the airport, "Your husband is a complete ass coming back to the big empty house is either going to push him to open his eyes about how he feels about you or cement his downfall and when that happens I will be standing in a first row telling him ' I told you so'," Alina said to herself.

"Kaitlin, I am back, I hope that in the time that I have been gone, you have reflected on what I told you," Samuel said as he walked into the house. As soon as Samuel walked inside the house, he felt something was off. He looked around the living room, but still, he couldn't find the place where the feeling was coming from. "Kaitlin!" Samuel called out once again as he sat down on the couch and laid his head back on the armchair, he had taken a seat on.

"Sir, Mrs. Kaitlin is not at home, she has not been in the house in the past three days," Gloria said. Samuel had hired Gloria after he had married Kaitlin, she did the cooking and helped maintain the house.

"What do you mean she has not been here in the past three days?" Samuel question. He couldn't believe that Kaitlin had left the house without letting Gloria know where she would be. "Did she leave a note saying where she was going or did she talk to anyone before she left?"

"She didn't leave any notes and I am not sure if she told your sister, she was the last person I saw Mrs. Kaitlin with," Gloria said holding Samuel's cold stair.

"Thank you, Gloria, you may go," Samuel said waving Gloria away. "What did you do Laura?" Samuel asked out loud as he pulled out his phone from his pocket.

He opened his phone and pressed on the recent call list, but nowhere on that page was Kaitlin's number, Samuel closed the page and opened up the messages the most recent message was from Celia, he scrolled down and found Kaitlin's name. Samuel clicked on her name and pressed the call button. The phone rang three times before the message sounded, "Sorry the person you are trying to reach is not available right now, please try again later." Samuel pulled the phone away from his ear and just stared at it.

"Where the fuck are you Kaitlin?" Samuel asked as she pulled Laura's number. The phone was picked up on the second ring, "Laura tell me what you said, Kaitlin?" Samuel all but growled.

"What do you mean?" Laura said trying to maintain her innocence.

"Cut the crap, Laura, the last time anyone saw her was when she was talking to you," Samuel said as he took in a breath. "Now tell me what did you do to Kaitlin?"

"I didn't do anything to her, I just told her that it was time for her to leave the family since she was just taking space and stopping you from being with the real person you wanted to be," Laura said. "After all everyone knows that she is just your substitute for Celia."

"Laura! Did she tell you where she was going to go?" Samuel said. Whether he loves Celia or Kaitlin, it was none of her business.

"No, she just took a suitcase and walked out the door," Laura said as she became excited about the outcome.

Before Laura could say anything else Samuel hung up the phone and called Nathan.

Nathan, Laura's older brother, picked up the phone on the second ring, "Hi, Samuel, how are you?" Nathan asked.

"I am doing okay, better if I could find my wife," Samuel said.

"What do you mean?" Nathan asked, "Where is Kaitlin?"

"I am looking I will call you when I get something," Samuel said as he hung up the phone and looked around the empty house.

Samuel called his assistant, "Track Kaitlin's phone to see where she is at the moment and see if you can get a list of the places she has been for the past three days." Samuel said as a form of greeting.

It was a good thing that Devon was used to Samuel's way of acting, "I will get right on it sir."

Samuel fell back on the couch and laid back to try to get some rest.

The doorbell rang and Gloria went to get it, she came back with an envelope, "Sir, this came for you," Gloria said as she handed the envelope to Samuel.

Samuel opened his eyes and reached for the envelope, after seeing that it was addressed to him he turned it around and opened it. He pulled out the paper and what he saw left him without words. The papers that he had just received were divorce papers. Kaitlin had gone through with it and filed for divorce.

The phone rang and Samuel looked at the call screen before answering, "Boss we got the last location Mrs. Kaitlin was at," Devon said.

"Where?" Samuel asked.

"The last location it registered was the airport," Devon said, "It was still there a couple of hours ago, I have sent someone to see if we could retrieve it."

"As soon as you get the phone bring it over to the house," Samuel said.

"Understood," Devon responded hanging up the phone.
