Trial Dragon Warrior Part 1

POV Rio

I had finished all the prep work for this trial. I was expecting to be gone for approximately 19-20 days in real-world time. It comes out to 19-20 months. I made sure everyone would be fine for that long. I also decided against taking anyone with me as the Dragon Ball Universe is dangerous. I didn't want to risk losing anyone in such a risky place. Before leaving I was given many things to study and master. One of the things I was asked to do was build parts of the Terraformer. Since I would have the materials and time to build it and thus speed up our progress massively.

'Okay, system activate the Dragon Warrior Trial.'

I vanish in a flash of light. When my vision clears I see I am on a planet. I use the Palantir to tell where and when I am. I also use Perfect Unknowable.

'Okay, I am on Earth, and from what I can tell the Saiyans haven't arrived yet. I put their distance at 1 month or less. Well first let's deal with them.'

I use Gate to teleport them to a distant planet that can support life. I did so as I wanted intact bodies for study. I then teleported to the planet. They woke up and exited their pods. It was clear they were confused.

Nappa: "Vegeta, why did the pods land us here?"

Vegeta: "I don't know Nappa. Must have been a system error. They will need time to recalibrate. In the meantime let's see if there is anything worth our time here."

I took the opportunity to leave my cover and dispel my invisibility.

Nappa: "What the heck is that?"

They use the scouter and they become even more confused.

Nappa: "What?! It says this thing has a power level of 0. Is that even possible?"

Vegeta: "It must be a wild animal that came to investigate our crash. I guess it can be our dinner."

Rio: "Wow, you 2 are ruder than I thought you would be. Then again I should have expected as much given your upbringing. Well, let's get this over with."

I use Time Stop and approach Nappa.

Rio: "Delay Magic Soul Trap. Delay Magic True Death."

I then walked back to my original position. Once the Time Stop ended Nappa died and I got his soul.

Vegeta: "What?! Nappa, what's wrong!? Get up Nappa now!"

Rio: "He can't he's already dead."

Vegeta: "What?! That's impossible! He was weak but not that weak."

Rio: "I mean it doesn't change he is dead. Use your Scouter if you don't believe me."

He does and I see him go from confused to scared and then to angry all in only a few seconds.

Vegeta: "You! What did you do to him?!"

Rio: "I killed him."

Vegeta: "But how? You don't even have a power level. And I never saw you move."

Rio: "Why would I tell you? Now let's get this fight started. I have a lot of things to do and only so much time to do so."

Vegeta: "You dare look down on me! I will kill you!"

I decided to use Vegeta as a testing tool. I was fairly confident in being able to defeat him. I was trained by Captain Ginyu and I knew for a fact that Vegeta at this point in time is way weaker than him. That being said I was uninterested in allowing Vegeta to transform so I started with a simple teleportation spell followed by a slash that cut his tail off. I stored the tail as I wanted to study it.

Vegeta: "Damn it! You'll pay for that!"

Vegeta rushes me and goes for a straight punch. I was able to see the punch so I easily dodged. As I was dodging I sent a hoof to his chin. His head gets pushed up and I follow with a Ki Blast. The attack wasn't that strong but it forced him to move away.

Vegeta: "Hmm, that tickled!"

Rio: "Well duh, I am physically weaker than you. That being said let's see if you can survive this next attack."

I gather a massive amount of Ki and start condensing it. His Scouter starts freaking out before it explodes. Vegeta realizes the situation he is in very quickly. Behind him are his pods. If he dodges they get destroyed and he becomes stranded here. So he gathers all his Ki into a blast to counter mine. I let him gather all he has to do an old-fashioned beam battle. When I predict he will launch his attack I release mine.

Rio: "GALACTIC CANNON!"

Vegeta: "GALICK GUN!"

Two massive beams of purple energy rocket towards each other and meet in the middle ground. While this is happening I have a clone sneak past and take Nappa's corpse and pod. As we keep fighting to overcome the other with our attacks I sense he is losing energy quickly while I have barely spent anything. Vegeta seems to recognize this as he tries to think of a way out. He ultimately settles for a valid and sensible strategy. He sends all his energy out to redirect the attack while disengaging and moving his pod. It gives him the few seconds he needs to move his pod away from the attack. My attack overcomes his and I don't waste time on fueling it. It crashes and explodes on a nearby mountain.

BOOM

I look at Vegeta and I can tell he is exhausted but not severely. Low on Ki but still in great physical shape. I decided to summon a bunch of clones and gang up on him. Our goal is to beat the ever-living crap out of him. It would also allow us to refine our CQC techniques. I decided to not kill him as he is fairly important to this universe.

30 Minutes Later...

I won't deny I am impressed. Vegeta had managed to survive for a pretty long time. I could produce a theoretically infinite amount of clones as they cost basically nothing and had equal physical power to myself. Despite the unending clones Vegeta had managed to destroy several thousand of them. Mind you none of them used any Ki techniques but still.

'It seems that this is his limit.'

His left arm was broken, and his armor was in tatters. He was still standing, but barely. I learned a lot about high-speed melee combat, and I called off the clones.

Rio: "Okay, I have had my fun. Come back when you are stronger."

Vegeta gritted his teeth but didn't argue as he wasn't an idiot. He knew he couldn't keep fighting.

Vegeta: "I will be back! And when I come back I will show you the power of the Saiyans!"

Rio: "Yeah yeah, I get it, you get stronger with every fight. Now scram I have more important things to do."

Vegeta leaves and I move to see where my next target is. I was able to find Dr. Gero easily enough. He was still human which was perfect for me. It looked like he was working on Android 19. I used Perfect Unknowable and Teleportation to get to him. Then a simple Force push to incapacitate him. Then I start using Drain Knowledge.

'Hmm, well this is fascinating. I can't get all of his memories. His mind seems to be able to defend itself even while unconscious. I will have to get what I can.'

I grab the most important things. The location of bases and all the contingency plans he had made. And boy howdy did he have some.

'This guy is as bad as Sidious if not worse. He has like 50 different contingency plans. God, he is as paranoid as Batman. No wonder this guy was such a pain to deal with.'

I was able to get what I wanted but most of his knowledge was lost. It sucked but I trapped his soul before I killed him. I didn't want any chances. I learned that you can't revive a person if they don't have a soul. At least not with the Dragon Balls. My next stop was to destroy or steal everything Dr. Gero had made. Including a small embryo Cell. Once that was done I moved to the Larva Cell which was near the Time Machine. Cloaked of course. Then what I did next was simple. Time Stop, Delay Magic Soul Trap, and Teleportation. The destination was the core of a Neutron Star. Once I was certain I got his soul confirming he died I took the Time Machine.

'Hmm, what's next? Ah yes, let's go collect all the Namekians.'

My next stop was going to all the different Nameks and convincing the Namekians to join me. It was easy for most of them as they were strongly connected with nature, which gave them a high opinion of me. Once they agreed I put them in the Infinite Suitcase. I left two groups for last. Cereal and the soon-to-be-destroyed Namek. Cereal was a bit more complicated but Monaito was eventually convinced to leave. I decided to make a wish on the Cerealian Dragon Balls that would hopefully get me 3 new powerful allies.

Toronbo: "I have come, now speak your wish and I shall tell you if I can grant it."

Rio: "Can you make Androids 16, 17, and 18 Human and remove XYZ programming from them."

(AN: XYZ Programming is a stand-in for a bunch of specific science jargon. Basically, Rio removes the programming that makes them evil and wants to kill Goku. Also, any loyalty they had to Dr. Gero. It still allows them to retain their personalities. Like 16s love of nature. But now they won't be sadistic killers that torture their victims before killing them. Instead, they will be interested in being as efficient as safely and humanely possible. Finding the proper wording without it coming off as disjointed didn't work so I decided to have this Author's Note to explain instead. )

Toronbo: "It is possible."

I think about it and deem it good enough.

Rio: "Then do so please."

Toronbo: "It is done. Now summon me again if you should need me to grant another wish."

He disappears and I make sure the Dragon Balls are destroyed before I leave to go to the last remaining Namek.

Authors Note:

In this story and from what I have seen overall I think it is likely that few if anyone have resistance to Instant Death Magic. Rio could have killed Vegeta instantly as well but decided against it. Now as for taking the 3 Androids. Rio did so hoping that they would help him kill Frieza if his Magic doesn't work. If they don't join Rio then they will be free to leave but if they do join him then great. In my personal opinion, Incomplete Cell is not strong enough to survive the core of a Neutron Star. Especially since this was a Cell that wasn't even fully grown due to Time Travelling. Lastly, Rio destroys the Dragon Balls to prevent others from using them. Until next time Ciao.
