Chapter 36: One Man vs. Yan Yu Guild

On the throne sat Zhang Yue, his foot resting on the Dark Zombie Lord, now with less than 10% of its health remaining.

He looked down with disdain at the hundred or so Yan Yu Guild members gathered before him, his posture radiating the arrogance of a king.

Seeing Zhang Yue, Chen Jun's face immediately drained of color. "Zhang Yue?" he exclaimed.

The rest of the guild members were equally shocked.

"Did he really kill all those dark zombies by himself?"

"That's a 17th-level zombie lord... and he's literally stepping on it!"

"But why hasn't he killed it and finished the dungeon yet?"

While everyone was dumbstruck, Su Jingyan, standing at a safe distance, felt a smug satisfaction rise in her heart.

"It looks like someone's about to get what they deserve," she thought, eyes twinkling.

Chen Jun, trying to maintain his composure despite the rising tension, pointed at Zhang Yue and demanded, "So, it was you who activated this secret realm with the Golden Secret Token?"

Zhang Yue stood from the throne, lifting his foot, and kicked the severely injured Zombie Lord off to the side. With a casual motion, he swung his Frost Staff onto his shoulder and raised a golden token with his left hand.

"Congratulations," he said with an indifferent smirk. "You guessed right."

"Golden Secret Token!" Wu Zui gasped, utterly bewildered. "How did you manage to refine that?"

But Zhang Yue didn't bother acknowledging Wu Zui. His eyes locked onto Chen Jun.

"Haven't you been scheming to kill me?" he asked coldly. "Well, here's your chance."

Cold sweat immediately broke out on Chen Jun's forehead. He feared Zhang Yue would suddenly flash over and finish him off on the spot—after all, he had no resurrection scrolls left.

The only reason he had dared to enter the Dark Zombie Nest was because it had the benefit of free revives. But now, Zhang Yue had taken full control of the secret realm, altering its permissions.

Not only was free resurrection disabled, but return scrolls couldn't be used either. No one could exit the dungeon midway.

Su Jingyan's earlier suspicions were confirmed: all the permissions seemed designed to target one person—Chen Jun.

However, even with an A-tier Flash, Zhang Yue couldn't reach Chen Jun just yet.

Knowing this, and with his entourage behind him, not to mention Su Jingyan watching, Chen Jun regained some courage. He pointed at Zhang Yue and sneered, "So what if you set up a trap for me? You think you can kill me?"

"Pathetic piece of trash, you really need to take a good look at yourself. Do you even know who you're dealing with? I've got the backing of the Chen family, one of the top three families in Linhai City! Even Su Chen, the chairman of the Su family, has to show me some respect!"

"And you? What do you have? You think you can kill me?"

"Kid, you're still too green for this game!"

With that, Chen Jun turned to his subordinates and barked, "Kill him! Take down Zhang Yue!"

But the Yan Yu Guild members hesitated, glancing at one another, unsure.

Most of them were well aware of Zhang Yue's strength. He had single-handedly taken down a 17th-level zombie lord surrounded by hundreds of zombies. They knew they were no match for him.

Chen Jun himself had already learned this the hard way the night before when he'd tried and failed to kill Zhang Yue. He knew full well that his men wouldn't be able to scratch him.

However, with Su Jingyan, a forbidden mage of epic-tier caliber, things could be different.

Chen Jun quickly turned to her and said, "Jing'er, use your Forbidden Magic to bind Zhang Yue! Even if we have to chip away at his health bit by bit, we can take him down!"

But Su Jingyan didn't move.

"You were the one who tried to kill him first," she replied icily. "He's just defending himself. There's nothing wrong with that."

"I won't be an accomplice to your scheming. If you want to kill him, do it yourself."

Chen Jun was left speechless.

He had no choice but to accept that Su Jingyan wouldn't help him.

But he wasn't ready to give up.

Looking around at his men, Chen Jun shouted, "What the hell are you all afraid of? Anyone who dies still has revives left, right? If you fight for me and die, I'll compensate each of you 5,000 yuan!"

Despite their fear, the lure of money was too strong. Gritting their teeth, the Yan Yu Guild members picked up their weapons and charged toward Zhang Yue.

Standing alone against the entire Yan Yu Guild, Zhang Yue remained unfazed.

After all, a hundred years ago, he had stood alone against a horde of millions of ninth-tier beasts.

Compared to that?

Yan Yu Guild was nothing.

Inside the Dark Zombie Nest, killing neutral players didn't increase one's crime value.

Don't ask why—Zhang Yue had adjusted that rule himself with the Golden Secret Token.

This time, he could fight without holding back.

As soon as the first wave of Yan Yu Guild members entered his attack range, Zhang Yue raised his Frost Staff, casting spells at lightning speed thanks to his 55 Agility points.

Fireball!

Ice Spike!

Flame Missile!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Three A-tier spells were launched at three different targets.

-602!

-538!

-237!

-355 (Critical)!

-355 (Critical)!

One by one, Yan Yu Guild's 14th-level warriors and knights were instantly killed, their health bars obliterated.

"Ding~ You have killed the player [Yan Yu Guild, Shang]. Crime Value +0!"

"Ding~ You have killed the player [Yan Yu Guild, Pinru]. Crime Value +0!"

"Ding..."

Kill notifications rang in Zhang Yue's ears repeatedly.

Meanwhile, white lights continued to flash as the Yan Yu Guild members were sent to their deaths one after another.

Each of Zhang Yue's attacks was fatal.

In contrast, the arrows and spells launched by Yan Yu Guild's archers and mages only dealt pitiful amounts of damage, with forced hits doing -1 or, at best, ten points of damage.

On the other side, while Zhang Yue was preoccupied with the swarm of attackers, Chen Jun, taking advantage of the distraction, led a small group toward the critically injured Zombie Lord.

Before they could reach it, however, a gigantic Silver-armored Scorpion crashed down from the sky, blocking their path.

"What the hell is that? Is it that guy's pet?" a 14th-level warrior named [Yan Yu Guild, Sword God] scoffed. "It's just a scorpion! Watch me take it down!"

He charged at the scorpion with his iron sword raised high and slashed down with all his might.

CLANG!

The sword hit the scorpion's armored shell, but to his shock, a mere -1 damage appeared above its head.

"What the—?!" Sword God exclaimed in disbelief. "I'm a full-strength 14th-level warrior, and I can't even scratch this thing?"

WHAM!

The Silver-armored Scorpion swung its massive pincers, sending Sword God flying.

The rest of Chen Jun's men gasped in terror.

With two pieces of 15th-level 2-star golden armor equipped, and as an elite-tier scorpion, it was practically invincible against their attacks.

Just then, more players poured into the dungeon.

Turning around, they saw two hundred members of the Supreme Guild storming into the core of the secret realm.

Leading them was Liu Yao, a 15th-level elite sword-and-shield warrior clad in silver armor. Seeing his rival Yan Yu Guild attacking Zhang Yue, Liu Yao shouted excitedly, "You dare lay a hand on my people?"

Pointing his sword at the Yan Yu Guild members surrounding Zhang Yue, Liu Yao bellowed, "Everyone, charge! Cut them down! 20,000 yuan for every head you take!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than the Supreme Guild members surged forward like a tidal wave, accidentally knocking Liu Yao to the ground as they rushed into battle.

"Fuck! someone help me up…" Liu Yao raised his hand, only for it to be trampled underfoot by the stampede.
