SCARLET
The next day, our professor handed out a list of pairs for the competition she had just announced. It was a partner-based challenge, and the room buzzed with excitement as everyone tried to figure out who they'd been paired with.
I scanned the list quickly, hoping for a familiar name. When I finally found mine, my heart skipped a beat. "Micah"
"Looks like we're partners," Micah said, leaning over my shoulder with a playful grin. "Fate must really like us."
I gave her a small smile, trying to act casual. "Guess so. Let's just hope we don't mess up."
I hear someone groaned from across the room. "Of course you two are paired. Figures," she muttered under her breath.
It was the girl who challenged me before.
The girl beside her smirked. "Don't worry, I bet they won't survive it this time."
Micah chuckled. "How sure are you?"
I nudged her lightly. "Focus, Micah. We still don't know what the competition is about."
