"I'm sure they are gonna send someone to kill me soon"
Atlas quickly paced north towards the centre of the city.
"Taking over the emergency centre would require all of their man power, especially considering that brat's meticulous nature"
"In that case, the city centre should be free, and that's a prime location for the other faction in the city"
Atlas ran faster, using the alleyways to avoid the roaming goblins.
'Killing them might net me some points, but I gotta keep my priorities straight... and try to fulfill the old man's last wishes'
...
A small band of people were running along the streets, trying to avoid goblins.
A man with a military outfit was in the front with an assault rifle in hand and a pistol by his side.
He ordered his group of civilians nicely; he clearly did not manage people in the army.
"Alright, everyone gather up. We'll quickly cross the next 2 blocks and reach the mall. That's the gathering place for survivors"
"Isn't the emergency centre the place we need to go to in such a situation?" A timid man pointed out.
They all had to walk slowly in the dark so as to not injure themselves in the rubble around them.
The roads looked critically damaged, the walls of the buildings collapsed.
"Normally we would go there... but we can't for now"
The others murmured amongst themselves.
An older lady came up this time. "I am NOT following you without knowing everything. The city's emergency protocol says to go to the emergency centre and I say we do so!"
She continued in her high pitched voice "The only reason we are following you is because of your uniform... and even THAT might be fake"
A wave of murmers once again came from the group of people.
'Ugh... what do I do? I can't harm them, but it's almost midnight and we might be assaulted by goblins any time! I can't even tell them because I myself don't know!'
The young soldier tried to persuade them.
"Umm, we can discuss that later umm lady. First we should leave this place, we are out in the open and it's almost midnight"
The women stomped her foot and shouted out.
"NO! I WILL NOT FOLLOW YOU UNTILL YOU TELL ME WHATS GOING ON!"
"You all are the military so you all should know what's going on! All those creatures running around that look like they are straight out of a horror movie and you stopping us from going to the emergency centre!"
"Now you're the suspicious one here!"
The young soldier didnt know how to descelate the situation and started panicking.
He was about to tell her to stop speaking so loudly when suddenly sound came from behind them.
The soldier slowly craned his head behind and took out his flash light.
'Don't be a goblin don't be a goblin don't be a goblin'
Click*
"Kheeeeekkk!!!"
A goblin screamed at the light.
It fell from the rubble and started flailing around.
"Everyone, get together! There might be more of them!"
The soldier said in a more commanding voice; it was still more quiet than the lady's.
"Stop being so loud! You'll attract them!"
The lady shouted oblivious. She was the only one speaking, the others too concerned over their own survival.
"Kheeeekekekekkkk"
More voices started popping up untill they were all surrounded.
"Ah shit... Everyone, get ready to defend yourselves!"
The goblins, ready to strike, got into position. Waiting for their prey to make the first move when suddenly-!
BANG!
A single bullet killed a Goblin, a spark flashing from somewhere nearby.
BangBangBangBang!
The soldier took advantage of their brief confusion to fire his AR.
Many of the goblins dropped like flies, causing the rest to look at their fallen comrades in fear.
BANG!
One more shot, but this time it was nearer.
The soldier did not want to use more bullets due to the limited supply and instead shouted.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! FUCKING GOBLINS RUN!!!"
Multiple goblins looked intimidated by this.
The soldier set the brightness to max and started blinding the goblins haphazardly.
The goblins looked just as angry as they were scared.
When suddenly a blur appeared in the cornor of the groups view and a loud thud could be heard.
The sound of flesh being stabbed cane from behind the rubble and a body came flying out.
A screaminh goblin was hit and landed right next to the group. A goblin inpaled through the head with a rebar pierced the guts of another goblin, causing it to fall next to them.
The mysterious blur soon took out the goblins, and as the remaining goblins heard their screaming, they all began running.
After a brief silence the sound of rubble moving resounded through the night.
Step by step the group felt more apprehensive.
"On guard!" The soldier shouted, he aimed his gun at the expected location of the mysterious entity.
"I'm a human, and I'm your saviour"
A nonchalant voice came from the top of the rubble.
A man with black hair and brown eyes with blood on his clothes slid down the rubble.
He had a bloodied metal bar on his left hand, a gun on his waist.
The soldier put down the gun, still on guard.
"What are you doing!? Didn't you see what he did? He has blood all over him! He is dangerous and you are just gonna let him near me!?"
The lady screamed even louder.
The soldier was about to snap at her when suddenly the stranger spoke.
"The only reason I came here was because of you" Noticing the women about to speak the stranger continued faster.
"Not because of your loose hole down there, but the one up here" He pointed at her mouth.
"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!? Mister Soldier, apprehend this man right this instant! So disrespectful to his elders!"
The soldier looked back and said "I'm pretty sure him AND the goblins came because of your shouting, and you shouting more ain't gonna help your defense. Now you either shut up, or you'll be left behind. We do not need people like you"
The women was about to speak up when the stranger raised his metal bar and said.
"Either you shut the fuck up or I shove this down your throat"
The women paled instantly at the strangers expression. He was dead serious.
The rest of the group felt their ears sigh in relieve.
"Now, are you guys heading to the mall? The city's centre?"
The soldier cautiously chose to answer back.
"Yeah... yeah we are? Why do you ask?"
The stranger smiled.
"Me too, so let's head there together. It's only a short distance, and I'm pretty sure it'll be safer together"
The soldier knew that the man could go there alone perfectly fine seeing as how he had taken down atleast half a dozen goblins in less then a minute, but he knew that saying no might bring more trouble, and so he extended he hand in a sign of trust.
"Alright, come along. The name's Micheal, a soldier"
The stranger took his hand, smiled again and replied.
"I'm Atlas, from the Apartment"
