This story starts in a little town called New Haven, right on the border between Scotland and England.
Translated to Scottish Gaelic, New Haven becomes Caladh Ur.
Scotland, while full of magic, is a wild country, filled with creatures that none of us can quite identify.
Creatures like the Fae, who come from the Seelie and Unseelie realms to wreak havoc in the lives of humans.
Or creatures like werewolves and shifters, who guard the land and keep all magic in balance.
There are also witches, of course. Because where there is magic, there has to be a witch.
Witches, they say, are the source of all magic. Witches are born of magic and live with magic singing from their flesh.
And when they die, their magic escapes them in one last, whispering breath, to pass on to the nearest witch.
In this particular story, the powerful witch in question is Adriana Wilson, an American witch. After coming to Scotland to escape her overprotective family, she sets up shop in New Haven, where magic runs wild.
Derrick Brown, a British transplant, is a werewolf, and is grieving the loss of his fated mate.
When the two meet, they realize they can help one another.
Adriana can pretend that Derrick is her mate to appease her family at the next Full Moon ceremony. And she can help Derrick rebuild his pack and his home.
Did I forget to mention that Adriana is a billionaire?
Things get slightly more complicated when magic starts going haywire in New Haven - and the rest of the world - and people start dying.
And when Adriana's actual mate - a vengeful vampire - comes out of the shadows, she'll only have two choices.
Stay and fight and save the world. Or go with her fated mate and lose everything she loves. Including herself.
