Chapter 079 Who Can Explain It To Me!!

Maya couldn't figure out what was wrong with the helicopters.

"Why did they self-destruct before even firing their weapons?" she muttered to herself.

Her confusion was obvious from the look on her face, and she wasn't the only one perplexed—Killian was just as baffled.

Killian, the mastermind behind the whole operation, had developed the Extremis virus and orchestrated everything because of his hatred for Stark. He despised Stark so much that he didn't want him to die quickly; he wanted to destroy everything around him first.

He was ecstatic when Stark publicly gave his home address to the world. Without hesitation, Killian personally led the team to carry out the bombing.

But things weren't going as planned.

Sitting in the last helicopter, Killian had been watching everything unfold, feeling pleased with the thought that his revenge was imminent. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the helicopter in front of him... blew up?

In itself, a helicopter self-destructing wasn't that big of a deal. The real problem was that its explosion caused a chain reaction, taking out three more helicopters almost instantly. If it weren't for the quick reflexes of the remaining pilots, they could have lost even more.

Realizing this, Killian knew something was wrong.

This wasn't supposed to happen.

He had personally overseen every detail of the bombing, selecting the best pilots and thoroughly inspecting the helicopters before the mission. The pilots were all experienced veterans, skilled in air combat. So what had gone wrong?

Confused, Killian used his radio to communicate with the front: "What's going on up there? Why did the helicopter explode?"

"The one that exploded was A5. We're not sure what caused it, but we've already lost four helicopters because of it," someone responded, though without giving a clear answer.

It seemed there was no time to figure out why A5 had self-destructed. They had to continue with the mission before Stark could retaliate. If Stark used this time to suit up, it would spell trouble for them.

Killian quickly gave the order: "Forget about the explosion for now! All remaining helicopters, attack Stark's villa immediately! We—"

Before he could finish, strange loud noises filled the air.

Rumble—Rumble—Rumble—

Killian froze. That sounded like... thunder?

He looked up at the sky, confused. Sure enough, the once bright and sunny day was now covered with dark clouds, lightning flashing across the sky.

This was bad.

Helicopters are highly vulnerable to bad weather, which was why Killian had chosen a clear day for the attack. But now, out of nowhere, the sky had turned stormy.

What's going on? Sure, weather can be unpredictable, but it never changes this fast!

Thunder without any warning? This is absurd!

Killian, in shock, turned to the man next to him. "What's happening? Wasn't it sunny just a moment ago?"

His companion shook his head, equally confused. "I don't know, man. Who can predict the weather?"

"But... it changed too fast!" Killian complained, his frustration growing.

Before he could wrap his head around it, a massive "boom" shook the air, accompanied by earth-shattering thunder that reverberated through all of New York.

Before anyone could react, a bolt of lightning struck from the sky, hitting Killian's helicopter directly.

Panic ensued.

"Damn it! Boss, we've been hit by lightning!"

"The helicopter is out of control!"

"Prepare to skydive!"

Everything happened so fast that no one had time to react properly. The lightning strike had disabled all of the helicopter's systems, and it was now plummeting rapidly toward the sea below.

Despite the danger, Killian knew they had no choice but to parachute out.

Fortunately, the decision to skydive was successful. Killian survived and landed on the roof of Stark's mansion.

Given the villa's remote location, it seemed like the safest and best option.

Just as Killian was feeling lucky for his successful landing, a glowing yellow circle appeared under his feet.

"What the—?"

Before he could make sense of it, Killian fell through the circle, crashing face-first onto the floor below.

"Thud!"

Luckily, the Extremis virus had strengthened his body, so he wasn't seriously hurt. He stood up, ready to assess where the strange yellow circle had taken him.

That's when he saw her—Maya.

She was tied to a chair, glaring at him with clear anger in her eyes.

Killian quickly turned around, only to find himself facing Stark, who was now wearing his Iron Man suit, his palm aimed at Killian's head.

Next to Stark stood Luo Bai.

"Raise your hands," Stark said sternly. "Or I'll blow your head off with a laser cannon."

Killian could only raise his hands in silence.

Just then, Maya shouted angrily, "Killian! Are you really here to capture Stark?"

Killian was speechless.

How could everything have gone so wrong? First, the helicopter exploded out of nowhere, and then his own chopper got struck by lightning!

Why? Why did all these highly improbable events happen to him today?

In his bewilderment, Killian said, "Honestly, I feel like everything that's happened today is completely different from what I planned. I don't know why it turned out like this. Do you believe me if I say our helicopter was struck by lightning?"

Maya: "..."

Everyone else: "..."

They all fell silent.

Killian, still confused, asked again, "Can anyone explain why the sky suddenly changed like that? Stark, can you explain this scientifically?"

Stark paused, then replied, "Well... to be honest, I kind of feel sorry for you."

He glanced at Luo Bai, recalling the time when Loki first appeared on Earth. Luo Bai had told him back then that as long as he was around, no one could destroy his villa.

At the time, Stark thought Luo Bai meant it because of his strength.

But now, Stark wondered... Was it really because of his luck?

Could someone really be so lucky that even the weather changes in their favor? Just sitting here drinking tea, and the villain comes right to their doorstep?
