Chapter 51: Take Asher Home

(Lyra's POV)

With renewed determination, I followed the trail. It led me to a small clearing where a dilapidated cabin stood. Two guards patrolled outside, their movements lazy and unconcerned.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of the shadows. The guards immediately tensed, but before they could raise the alarm, I reached out with my newly awakened powers. Silver light poured from my hands, enveloping the wolves. Their eyes glazed over, bodies relaxing as if in a trance.

"Sleep," I commanded softly, and they crumpled to the ground.

Heart pounding, I approached the cabin. Asher's scent was stronger here, mixed with the metallic tang of blood. Steeling myself, I pushed open the door.

The sight that greeted me nearly brought me to my knees. Asher hung from chains attached to the ceiling, his body battered and bloody. His once-proud frame was gaunt, his skin pale beneath the bruises and cuts.
