Chapter 24: The Arrogant Wang Sheng, Provocation

"Alright, your registration is complete. These are your Martial Spirit certificates."

Inside the registration office, after the two teachers finished registering Lin Ye and Tang San's information, Director Su handed over their Martial Spirit certificates and spoke.

Seeing Lin Ye and Tang San take their certificates, Director Su bent down, retrieving two packages from under the desk. He handed them over to them as well.

"These are the basic living supplies provided by the academy—uniforms and toiletries. Your dorm is in Dormitory Seven, located on the east side of the teaching building. Once you get there, a teacher will arrange your work as work-study students."

Director Su explained with a smile.

"Thank you, Director Su."

Lin Ye accepted the package politely, expressing his gratitude. Tang San, who stood beside him, also thanked Director Su respectfully.

Tang San held a favorable impression of Director Su, especially after witnessing him defend Grandmaster earlier.

"No need to thank me. Now off you go, and make sure to study hard."

Waving his hand dismissively, Director Su smiled, watching the two boys leave the registration office.

After leaving the office, Lin Ye quickly located the dormitory building on the east side of the teaching building, just as Director Su had described.

Since there weren't many tall buildings within the entire Notting Academy, and with the directions Director Su had provided, it was easy to find their way.

Spotting their destination, Lin Ye led the way with Tang San following closely behind.

They walked down a corridor, passed through a shaded grove, and stepped onto a cobblestone path. After a short while, they finally reached the front of the dormitory building.

The building had six floors, with dormitories marked in sequence from Dormitory One to Dormitory Three on the doors. Based on this, Lin Ye quickly deduced that Dormitory Seven would be on the third floor.

Without hesitation, Lin Ye headed toward the stairs. After climbing two flights of stairs, they arrived on the third floor.

As soon as they reached the third floor, they could hear the sounds of children laughing and shouting coming from further down the hallway.

Turning his head, Lin Ye spotted a plaque above the first room in sight, clearly engraved with the words "Dormitory Seven."

"So, this is Dormitory Seven?"

Lin Ye thought to himself.

"Let's go," he said to Tang San before walking toward the dormitory door.

Tang San, still glancing curiously at his surroundings, lagged slightly behind Lin Ye as they approached.

It seemed that aside from Dormitory Seven, there weren't any other dorms on this floor. The rest of the floor was eerily quiet, with only the sounds from Dormitory Seven breaking the silence. However, as soon as Lin Ye's footsteps echoed in the hallway, the voices from within suddenly hushed.

"May I come in?" Lin Ye knocked on the door, his voice calm and steady.

"Huh? It's not a teacher?"

From inside, a voice called out in surprise, followed by a collective sigh of relief.

"Come on in."

Upon hearing the voice, Lin Ye pushed the door open and walked in, with Tang San close behind.

As they entered, the sight inside Dormitory Seven unfolded before their eyes.

The room was spacious, about 300 square meters in area, filled with rows of beds—around fifty in total, though less than half were made up with bedding. At the moment, seven or eight children were sitting on the beds, all staring at Lin Ye and Tang San as they walked in.

The children varied in age, from as young as six to as old as eleven or twelve. It was clearly a mixed dormitory.

"Are you the new work-study students?" one of the older-looking boys asked after sizing up Lin Ye and Tang San. His eyes, however, were mostly focused on Lin Ye, perhaps because of Lin Ye's striking presence and calm demeanor.

"Yes, we're both work-study students. My name is Lin Ye, and this is Tang San. We're both from Holy Soul Village."

Lin Ye introduced himself in a composed manner, pointing to Tang San as he spoke.

"Hello, I'm Tang San," Tang San added with a friendly smile.

"Lin Ye and Tang San? Got it, I'll remember that."

The older boy nodded after hearing their introductions.

"Alright, since you've introduced yourselves, it's my turn now. My name is Wang Sheng, Martial Spirit: Battle Tiger. I'll be a future Battle Soul Master and am the boss around here!"

As Wang Sheng introduced himself, he stood up from his bed and began throwing a few punches and kicks in the air.

When he mentioned his Martial Spirit, the Battle Tiger, he summoned it immediately. A faint yellow tiger shadow materialized around him, letting out a low growl. A slight ripple of soul power spread outwards, giving off a hint of intimidation.

Lin Ye, however, remained completely unfazed.

Seeing Lin Ye and Tang San's calm reaction to his Martial Spirit, Wang Sheng's eyes flashed with surprise.

"Alright, now that I've introduced myself, you two need to follow the rules. While you did introduce yourselves, you didn't mention your Martial Spirits. That's against the dorm rules. Introduce yourselves again, this time properly, like I just did."

Wang Sheng withdrew his Battle Tiger Martial Spirit and crossed his arms as he spoke.

"Are there really rules like that?" Tang San asked, a little puzzled.

But Lin Ye, still calm and unhurried, walked over to an empty bed with his package in hand. While unpacking his belongings, he spoke evenly, "My name is Lin Ye. Martial Spirit: Begonia Flower."

After placing his items neatly on the bed, Tang San followed suit, smiling as he introduced himself again. "I'm Tang San. Martial Spirit: Blue Silver Grass."

"Are you guys joking?"

Wang Sheng suddenly burst into laughter as if he'd just heard the funniest thing in the world. "A Begonia Flower? Blue Silver Grass? Those sound like useless trash Martial Spirits! It's incredible that you two even have soul power. What a rare sight!"

"Well, since both of your Martial Spirits are so worthless, it looks like I won't have to waste much effort. From now on, both of you are my lackeys. Whatever I say, you do. Got it?"

With his hands on his hips, Wang Sheng arrogantly pointed at Lin Ye and Tang San, making his proclamation.

"Sorry, I'm just here to study and learn about becoming a Soul Master. I have no interest in being anyone's lackey."

Lin Ye's expression remained unchanged as he calmly unpacked his belongings and organized them neatly on the small table beside his bed.

"What? You dare ignore our boss?"

The other kids in the dorm began shouting and jeering.

"Boss, this guy is really clueless. He's ignoring the rules of Dormitory Seven. You should teach him a lesson!"

"Hmph! You look soft and pampered, just like a noble. You probably don't have much strength, and with a trash Martial Spirit like that, you dare to act tough? I'll make you my lackey whether you like it or not. What are you going to do about it?"

Egged on by his followers, Wang Sheng snorted coldly before stepping forward, reaching out to shove Lin Ye.
