Who is Mr Dexter?

"Mom, can you come back? I miss you."

"You silly girl! You're all grown up now. There will be a man to take care of you on my behalf. You just have to live a happy life."

Live a happy life?

When Eliza was about to continue talking to her mother, the beautiful and gentle woman left with a white light.

Eliza struggled to wake up.

She seemed to hear someone speaking in a low voice around her and deliberately hushed footsteps. She knew that she was in a dream with her mother but she did not want to wake up, and she was extremely unwilling to do so.

After all, she missed her mother.

Her entire body felt uncomfortably hot, so she moaned in a low voice.

Right after that, she felt a cool presence around her as she seemed to be brought into a cool embrace.

Someone gently patted her back and the tempo was so comforting that she felt like crying.

Eliza snuggled closer into the embrace and found another comfortable position. Finally, she sank into a deep sleep again.

Jacob was witnessing the scene in front of him—the man among their group of friends who was most uninterested in women was now hugging a woman gently.

If he did not see this with his own eyes, he would have thought he had entered another fantasy.

After the needle poked into the girl skin, his friend thin lips pressed into a hard line when Eliza stiffened in his arms.

"Dexter, Isn't she so young for you?" Jacob smirked.

Quickly, a deadly atmosphere spread in the bedroom.

After giving the shot and giving Dexter some further instructions, Jacob quickly packed his stuff and escaped from the apartment.

The next day when Eliza woke up, she had no idea what was going on.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw an unfamiliar ceiling. She stared at the white ceiling as she regained her focus.

The bed is quite soft and the surroundings...

She turned around and saw the arrangement of the room that was clean and completely unfeminine.

As memories slowly returned to her, her eyes narrowed and she immediately sat up on the bed.

As it was too sudden, her mind suddenly became blank. It was only after she steadied herself for a while that the dizziness faded.

Where.... am I?

Just as she tore the blanket from her body, she saw herself wearing a set of unfamiliar pajamas. The dress that she wore last night was nowhere to be seen. Her mind seemed to have exploded and she was dumbfounded.

At this moment, the door was opened by an old lady in her fifties who walked into the room.

When she saw that Eliza was awake, she heaved a sigh of relief and placed a set of clothes beside her tidily. "Miss, you are finally awake. I'm Mr. Dexter's maid, Selene. Last night you had a fever, so Mr. Dexter asked me to take care of you. Here are your clothes."

Eliza was still stunned at this occurrence. She pointed at the pajamas she was wearing and stuttered, "T-This pajamas that...Wait...Who is Mr Dexter?"

27th floor, CEO's office

Baron greeted Nicole before retrieving the project information from her hands, then knocked on the CEO's door.

"Come in!"

Hearing the cold voice from coming from inside, Baron straightened his back and pushed the door open. The man inside there was reading a document with his head lowered, not looking up even when Baron entered.

"Mr. Cooper this is last month's report. Mr. Hart of the finance department says the budget for the external communications department is too high. Please make your decision," Baron quickly reported before handing the documents over to Dexter.

Dexter's brow furrowed slightly as his fingers tapped his desk. "There's no need to report such trivial matters to me. Let them handle this on their own. Anything that's within a controllable range need not be reported to me," he said as glanced through the information before tossing the papers back to Baron.

"Yes sir," Baron sighed slightly before continuing. "Miss Eliza left the apartment."

Dexter nodded. "Anything else?"

"Yes. Here is the information on Miss Eliza," Baron said.

Dexter took the information over and glanced at Baron thoughtfully. Baron immediately straightened his back upon realizing that he had actually spaced out in front of his boss. "I shall take my leave, Mr. Cooper," he said.

After Baron left, Dexter continued to look at the document in his hands for a long while before finally picking up the information on Eliza that Baron had given him. The information was extremely detailed. Almost everything that happened from Eliza's birth till present had been recorded in the document.

Dexter briefly glanced through the document, but his dark and deep eyes suddenly turned cold when his gaze landed on a photograph of Eliza and Robert from three years ago. He lifted his head and took out the photograph. He instantly turned cold when he saw how happily the girl smiled. Dexter ripped the photograph in half, separating the two subjects. He threw the photo of Robert away and placed Eliza's picture back into the file.
