Display of care.

"Don't worry, take a rest. He won't bother you again," Dexter said, his voice calm and reassuring.

Eliza's mind was a whirlwind of questions, but before she could articulate a single one, Dexter hung up the phone, leaving her staring at the silent device in her hand.

Eliza struggled to fall asleep, her mind consumed by questions about Dexter's sudden display of care. She knew he wasn't an ordinary man, and it seemed unlikely that he had a romantic interest in her.

She rationalized that perhaps Dexter's kindness stemmed from the fact that she had once saved his life, or maybe it was because of her friendship with Natalie. Whatever the reason, Eliza tried to shake the thought from her mind.

As she lay there, her eyelids eventually grew heavy, and she drifted off to sleep, exhausted from the events of the day.

Next day

Eliza's focus on the calculations was shattered when a stack of documents landed on her workspace with a thud. She looked up to find Elsie, her manager, glaring at her with a fierce expression.

"I already submitted the files," Eliza said, slightly defensive.

Elsie's scowl deepened. "Eliza, you're something else, girl!" she snapped, her tone dripping with annoyance.

Eliza's frown deepened. "What do you mean, Manager?" she asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.

Elsie's heavily made-up face twisted in indignation. Her eyes blazed with anger, as if they might shoot fire at any moment. "Are you actually asking me what the matter is?" she spat.

Eliza's confusion turned to alarm. "Why are you upset, Manager?" she asked cautiously.

Elsie's voice rose. "Why didn't you tell me you had a meeting with the CEO of Next B Group? You should have informed me!"

"I'm surprised too," Eliza explained, her voice rising slightly as she defended herself. "You mentioned that I would be meeting with Logan, but it turns out that the CEO will be directly overseeing the project."

As Eliza spoke, she noticed that she had inadvertently drawn the attention of their other colleagues, who were now listening in on the conversation with interest.

"Whatever!" Elsie snapped, her annoyance palpable. "I'll be taking direct charge of the project from now on. Make sure to submit the blueprint to the Director by today."

Elsie's expression betrayed her frustration, and Eliza sensed that she was regretting having missed out on the meeting with the CEO.

After a while, Eliza took a break and prepared a cup of coffee. Her break partner, Sasha, showed up and asked curiously about the meeting. When Eliza mentioned that she had spoken with the CEO, Sasha's eyes widened with envy. "You're such a lucky girl!" Sasha exclaimed.

But Eliza didn't share Sasha's excitement. Instead, she felt a lingering sense of unease about Robert's arrest. Her expression remained subdued, and she didn't reveal the turmoil brewing inside her.

After work, Eliza headed to Natalie's apartment, where she was greeted with a warm smile. Though Eliza didn't directly bring up the topic of Robert's arrest, Natalie sensed her concern and decided to address it. "We had a feeling he might do something," Natalie explained, her expression turning serious.

"So, we parked the car and waited for a while. I was furious when I saw him banging on your door." Natalie's anger flared up again at the memory. "I thought that it would be better to call the police," she continued. "Uncle Dexter filed the complaint. Don't worry, he'll be locked up for at least two days."

Eliza listened intently, and as Natalie spoke, she realized that it was Dexter who had filed the complaint, likely because he had seen how worried Natalie was about her.

Natalie stood up, her expression resolute. "You can't stay in that apartment anymore. I've already arranged for a new one. You'll move in tomorrow."

Eliza protested, "Natalie, I know you're concerned, but I'm fine."

Natalie rolled her eyes. "Why do you always say you're fine?" She began searching for something, then handed Eliza a key. "Take this. You'll move tomorrow."

Eliza tried to object, "But I have work tomorrow. You don't—"

Natalie cut her off, "I know, I know! You just go to work. I'll take care of everything, okay?"

Eliza couldn't wear down Natalie's determination.

Natalie heaved a deep sigh. "Girl! Don't take so much stress! It's Robert's loss that he cheated on you. Forget about that jerk!" She exclaimed in a burst of emotion.

The next morning, Natalie arrived at Eliza's apartment, accompanied by a team of movers. Without hesitation, Natalie began supervising the packing process, efficiently directing the helpers as they carefully wrapped and boxed Eliza's belongings.

Eliza, on the other hand, stood by, feeling like a spectator in her own home. She seemed disconnected from the chaos around her, unsure of how to react to Natalie's takeover.

After a while, Natalie turned to Eliza and said, "Okay, that's enough standing around. You need to get to work. Go!" With a gentle but firm nudge, Natalie ushered Eliza out the door, leaving her to head to the office while the movers continued their work.
