Chapter 367: Bishamon-ten and Fukurokuju!
At the edge of the Third Training Ground, Itachi crouched behind an earth-style mud wall with three of his ANBU teammates.
The shockwave from Haneda's Shinra Tensei was enormous, sweeping across the entire training ground like a tidal wave.
To protect his squad, Itachi had no choice but to use an earth-style jutsu to shield them from the blast.
As the impact subsided, Itachi cautiously peeked out from behind the wall, his expression filled with disbelief.
Under the clear, moonlit sky of pollution-free Konoha, the sight before him was all too vivid.
A massive crater stretched across what had once been the Third Training Ground—a testament to the sheer power wielded by Haneda alone.
"So this is the power of the Rinnegan… No wonder Uncle Haneda values Pain so highly."
"The Rinnegan's strength is overwhelming. It truly is the Sage's eye, capable of destroying and creating worlds."
These thoughts swirled in Itachi's mind as he silently observed.
Meanwhile, the debris and mud from the shockwave began reversing their flow, as if time itself had been rewound.
The deep crater rapidly returned to its original state, though the greenery of the forest was notably absent.
Itachi quickly deduced that Haneda was testing the full extent of his Rinnegan's powers, particularly its gravitational manipulation of repulsion and attraction.
A sudden thought struck him—just how powerful had Uncle Haneda become with the Rinnegan?
The wind whispered quietly as a silver-haired figure suddenly appeared near Itachi's group, yawning and dressed in his sleepwear.
Rubbing his eyes, Kakashi looked at the now-vanished forest and widened his eyes in surprise.
"Huh? Am I still dreaming because I overslept?"
"That was Uncle Haneda's doing," Itachi explained from the side.
Kakashi pinched Itachi's arm lightly.
"One to ten, how much does it hurt?"
(′?w?)?
Itachi blinked in exasperation, glanced at Kakashi with the barest hint of annoyance, and replied, "Ten."
"Okay, looks like I'm not dreaming."
Though Kakashi could easily confirm reality through chakra control—just like dispelling a genjutsu—he decided to joke around to lighten the mood.
Looking up at the moonlit sky, where Haneda floated high above, Kakashi could sense an overwhelmingly dangerous chakra emanating from him.
This chakra was far beyond anything he'd felt before, far surpassing even the power of the tailed beasts.
"The Rinnegan… it awakened faster than I expected," Kakashi murmured to himself.
He was privy to most of Haneda's plans. With the Rinnegan now awakened, Haneda already possessed the power to ignite the Fourth Great Ninja War.
Yet, Kakashi knew Haneda planned to hold back, waiting until the Tenseigan was fully fused.
Once Haneda wielded both the Rinnegan and the Tenseigan—two of the strongest ocular powers—there would be no one in the ninja world who could stop him.
Beyond unifying the world, Haneda's other purpose for the war was to bring Obito back.
While the Tenseigan was the cornerstone of his power, the Rinnegan was the key to ensuring success.
Now that the key was in place, only time was needed for the foundation to solidify.
As Kakashi gazed at Haneda silhouetted against the full moon, his thoughts wandered to the past, recalling memories of Obito.
Above, Haneda was quietly absorbing the knowledge that had been passed to him with the awakening of the Rinnegan.
Just as Madara's Rinnegan granted Limbo: Border Jail and Sasuke's gave him Amenotejikara, Haneda's Rinnegan awakened two unique dōjutsu: Bishamon-ten and Fukurokuju.
Bishamon-ten originated from Hindu mythology, while Fukurokuju came from Chinese folklore—though the latter was also revered in Japanese culture as one of the Seven Lucky Gods.
The Seven Lucky Gods included Ebisu, Daikokuten, Bishamon-ten, Jurōjin, Fukurokuju, Benzaiten, and Hotei.
Among them, Daikokuten had appeared in Kawaki's storyline, functioning as a space-time dōjutsu with a personal dimension that held relics of his parents.
Haneda's Bishamon-ten, like Kamui and Daikokuten, was also a space-time dōjutsu but had an eerie twist.
If Daikokuten created a space of frozen time, Bishamon-ten created a realm where all intelligence was stripped away.
Any sentient being that entered Bishamon-ten's domain would gradually lose their intelligence, reflexes, and knowledge—essentially becoming a mindless husk.
However, Haneda himself remained unaffected within this domain.
As Bishamon-ten was the deity of limitless wisdom, Haneda became the sole source of intelligence in the realm, effectively granting him an unparalleled advantage.
This ability perfectly matched the name's meaning.
The second dōjutsu, Fukurokuju, was more conventional in comparison.
Fukurokuju allowed Haneda to glimpse fragments of fate, enabling him to anticipate dangers and make decisions to maximize fortune.
In moments of crisis, it could passively alert him through dreams, sudden intuition, or even inexplicable actions that helped him avoid harm.
Additionally, Fukurokuju granted a passive ability to extend lifespan. By absorbing natural energy, Haneda could lengthen his life significantly.
The richer the natural energy in an environment, the longer he could live.
Haneda roughly estimated that, while living in Konoha, he could easily live for another three hundred years.
If he were to train in one of the three great sacred lands—Mount Myōboku, Ryūchi Cave, or Shikkotsu Forest—he might even achieve lifespans comparable to the Great Toad Sage or the White Snake Sage, living for over a thousand years.
"Not bad at all," Haneda murmured with a faint smile.
While Fukurokuju would've been a game-changer in his earlier years, at his current level of power, it was more of a cherry on top.
Its ability to avoid danger was useful but hardly necessary—Haneda was already the strongest in the ninja world, with no one capable of challenging him.
The lifespan extension, though impressive, was similarly less impactful now. Since awakening the Rinnegan, Haneda could feel that he had transcended the limitations of his physical body.
His state resembled that of Indra and Ashura's chakra, which persisted in the ninja world, reincarnating endlessly.
Like the Sage of Six Paths, Haneda could already partially ignore the constraints of the Pure Land, existing between the real world and the afterlife.
However, unlike the Sage of Six Paths, Haneda sensed that entering the Pure Land would be a one-way trip for him.
While he might still influence the living world from there, it wouldn't be to the extent the Sage could achieve.
Haneda speculated that this limitation stemmed from the nature of his Rinnegan.
Madara's Rinnegan had awakened through the merging of Indra and Ashura's chakra, making it only partially his own power. Thus, he couldn't fully transcend reality.
Madara only reached the level of the Six Paths by absorbing the God Tree, yet after the Fourth War, his disillusionment drove him to seek peace in the Pure Land with Hashirama.
Similarly, Obito, after his death, returned to the Pure Land with Rin, though he briefly lent his power to Kakashi during the final battle.
Even in death, the power of the Six Paths could still influence the living world.
As for Sasuke, his Rinnegan was incomplete, gifted to him by the Sage of Six Paths. He never fully reached the level of the Six Paths.
"The Rinnegan truly is the eye that governs life and death."
"Bishamon-ten and Fukurokuju are just icing on the cake. They don't dramatically increase my strength…"
"At least, that's how it seems. Let's see how they hold up in practice."
