Chapter 11: Troubling Thoughts

Selene’s POV

The narrow alley seemed to grow even narrower as Damien and Lucian faced off, the tension between them palpable in the cold night air. Damien’s fierce expression was a stark contrast to Lucian’s calm, almost bored demeanor. I could feel Damien’s anger radiating off him, but Lucian’s presence seemed to swallow up any space Damien tried to claim.

For a moment, neither spoke, the silence hanging heavy between them. I could see Damien’s chest rising and falling rapidly, his breath coming in sharp bursts, while Lucian stood completely still, his eyes fixed on Damien with a cold, calculating gaze.

“You think you can just take what’s mine, Lucian?” Damien finally spat, his voice thick with contempt.

Lucian’s smirk widened slightly, but his eyes remained icy. “I don’t see your name on her,” he replied, his tone light, almost teasing. “And from what I’ve heard, Selene made her own choices.”
