Selene’s POV
I paced back and forth in my room, the walls closing in on me with each passing minute. I had tried everything—picking the lock, searching for hidden passageways, and even attempting to bribe one of the guards. Nothing worked. They were relentless, stationed like statues around every corner of the house. Frustration boiled inside me, a mix of anger at Lucian for putting me in this situation and fury at myself for feeling trapped.
I couldn’t afford to miss another day of Healer training. I had already skipped one, and the Healer base had strict rules: three consecutive absences meant automatic expulsion. If that happened, everything I had worked for would be gone. My fingers tightened into fists. I wouldn’t let Lucian take this away from me.
I picked up my phone and considered calling Kate or Lilian. They’d help me get out of there. I dialed Kate’s number, holding my breath as it rang.
