Selene’s POV
Before Lucian could respond, the world around me blurred. The exhaustion from the night, from the drinking, pulled me under, and my eyelids fluttered shut.
Lucian’s arms tightened around me, holding me close as I drifted off into a fitful sleep.
The moment I opened my eyes, the light streaming in from the window felt like needles piercing my skull. My head throbbed with the aftereffects of far too much alcohol, and my stomach churned uncomfortably. The room was unfamiliar at first—a spacious, elegant room with high ceilings and dark furniture. It took me a few moments to recognize it. I was back at Lucian’s mansion.
How had I even gotten there?
