Nadia’s POV
I managed to get Mom inside, her arm slung over my shoulder, her feet dragging against the carpet. The house was mercifully empty—Aiden and his sons were out, and Jasper was God-knows-where, probably hiding away with his computer. I didn’t have time to worry about any of them right now. I just needed to get Mom cleaned up and sober before anyone else walked in and saw her.
I guided her through the living room, her steps unsteady and her laughter trailing off into the quiet of the house. She was a mess, her eyes barely focusing as she leaned heavily on me.
"Nadia," she slurred with a sloppy grin, trying to right herself but failing miserably. "You’re such a good girl… always taking care of me…”
