Nadia's POV
There, perfect.
I set down the lip gloss that had finalized the work I had done to make my face look the best it had in weeks. I wasn't sure why I was trying so hard, but for the first time since moving to this house and switching schools, I had feelings of excitement twisting in my belly.
Maybe that was due to the gift box still lying on my bed. Seriously, who doesn't like getting gifts? It had to be from Ethan, which heightened the excitement even more.
I was just turning to begin working on my hair when I noticed movement in my bathroom mirror. A smile crossed my face as I saw who was standing there.
Then that smile quickly fell as I saw the look of pain on his face.
"Ethan? What's wrong?!" I asked, twisting around to get a good look at him.
He slumped against my bathroom door frame and tried to smile at me, but it looked like more of a grimace than anything.
