Chapter 20: Letting Go

Nadia's POV

Ugh.

I blinked my eyes, groaning as I sat up. The lights were too bright, so I closed my eyes again and pressed my hands over them and my pounding head. I felt worse than I had two mornings ago when I woke up with a fever.

What happened?

"Good morning, sunshine," came Jasper's voice from beside me, sounding much too loud in the silence of the room.

I shielded my eyes slightly before opening them and staring at my brother.

"How are you feeling?" he asked.

"Shitty," I croaked out. "What happened? Where am I?"

I tried to look around more and saw that I was sitting on the floor in Jasper's room. There was a blanket thrown over me, and I was still in the same clothes as the day before.

"Well, when you didn't come home from your walk, I went looking for you," Jasper began to explain. "I found you not far away, but you were wasted. Do you not remember anything?"

I shook my head.
