Chapter 23: Organizing a Funeral

Nadia POV

Jasper and I were discussing the final details when Mason appeared out of nowhere, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, a curious smirk on his face. “So… what’s this about a fake funeral?”

I froze, exchanging a glance with Jasper. “Mason, it’s not what you think—”

“Oh, I think it’s exactly what I think,” he interrupted, stepping closer. “And I gotta say, this might be the craziest thing you’ve done yet, Nadia.”

“Look, I don’t have time for your bullshit,” I snapped, frustrated. “We’re trying to save my mom, okay?”

Mason’s smirk faded, and for a moment, he looked almost… concerned. “You’re serious about this?”

“Dead serious,” Jasper said, giving him a pointed look.

To my surprise, Mason didn’t laugh or make a snarky comment. Instead, he nodded thoughtfully. “Alright. I’m in.”

I blinked. “Wait, what?”

“I’ll help,” he repeated, shrugging. “You’re gonna need someone to deal with the casket and the hearse, right? I know a guy.”
