Chapter 29: Saving Me

Nadia’s POV

I reached out, desperate, hoping it wasn’t just a hallucination.

Strong arms wrapped around me, pulling me up toward the surface. The cold air hit my face as I broke through, coughing and gasping, choking on the water that filled my lungs. The figure held me tight, guiding me toward the edge of the pool. My feet finally touched solid ground, and I collapsed onto the concrete, my body trembling from shock and fear.

My clothes clung to my body, soaked and heavy, and the cold air felt brutal against my skin. The world seemed blurry, my mind spinning, still trapped in that suffocating panic moment when the water swallowed me whole.

I blinked, trying to focus on the person who had pulled me out. It took a moment for the world to stop spinning, but my heart nearly stopped when I finally looked up.

Mason.

He knelt beside me, his hair soaked, his eyes filled with something I couldn’t quite read. Concern? Anger? Relief? All of it, maybe.
