An hour later, they arrived at the cemetery.
Ariel walked at the front of the line holding George’s ashes.
Ariel and Jake walked behind, holding the two children.
George was soon buried and a tombstone was set up.
After the other guests offered flowers, they left, leaving the place for Aria’s family.
Aria looked at George’s brand new tombstone and didn’t say anything.
Next to her, Ariel didn’t speak either.
Jake and the two children did not speak up even more, and the whole scene was quiet.
It wasn’t until a drop of rain fell on her head that Aria took a deep breath and murmured softly, “Dad, rest in peace.” She forgave him.
This sound of Dad was as if a certain switch was turned on, Ariel cried.
Aria pulled the two children over and stroked their heads, “Say goodbye to Grandpa.”
The two children looked at each other and finally nodded, “Goodbye Grandpa, rest in peace.”
This was the first time the two children had called him Grandpa, even though he couldn’t hear them.
