Back at the Richards' house Maggie stared at Val expectingly. Val totally ignored her and continued with her work. When Maggie arrived, she had coincidentally seen Liam and Adam leaving and now she was wanted an explanation she didn't have.
"How many times should I tell you Maggie, that was Adam's friend and his uncle not my boyfriend," she decided to clarify for the third time.
"What a pity, the man I saw just now was really handsome even though I only saw his side profile, I am certain that he is as good looking as those on TV. If only I had been here earlier and he looked rich please tell me you at least took his contacts."
Val was surprised by Maggie's unending praises. It seems like she was starting to know her cousin. Liam drove a range Rover today which is a common car on the roads, she wondered what Maggie would say if she knew that a Maserati brought him to the summit.
"Yes he gave me his contacts but not for the reasons in your mind," she wanted to confide with someone about Liam's job offer.
"What! He gave you his contacts? If it's not because he is interested in you then what other reason could he possibly have?" Maggie asked obviously not believing her.
"He offered me a job to teach his nephew Kelly," Val told her. Val wanted to hear Maggie's opinion.
"A job? But you got one already, besides he's a stranger who knows if he can be trusted," Maggie immediately cautioned her. Simply because she was charmed by Liam's good looks and riches doesn't mean she couldn't judge reasonably.
"Val, don't make a rash decision, you might regret it later. Since we don't know him well enough, we should at least try to find out a few things about him. Who knows, he might have ulterior motives," Maggie said sounding serious.
Val wanted to refute her claims but decided to keep quiet. She had a feeling that Liam was someone who can be trusted after all he'd been nothing but good to her since they met.
"Then should we investigate him?" Val suggested her eyes gleaming. It will be nice if she could dig out some information about Liam.
"Sure," Maggie answered taking out her laptop. And so, the two 'investigators' got to work.
After sometime, they became frustrated as they couldn't find anything.
Maggie was the first to complain, "Val with the information you gave, we will not be able to find anything. Do you really know nothing else about him, not even his surname?" All they had was his name and his nephew's name. They tried almost all social media platforms but still couldn't find anything reasonable.
"I don't know, when we met, he just introduced himself as Liam and nothing else, maybe we should just give up," Val said sounding disappointed.
She was beginning to consider Liam's offer after all he promised to loan her her father's surgery fee but with Maggie's caution, she was now hesitating. Liam might have been bluffing and if she doesn't claim Jayden's offer sooner, she might lose that chance.
"What if you ask him? Just tell him that someone was asking," Maggie voiced her own thoughts.
"You mean, you were asking for it," Val said poking Maggie's face. She wasn't close to Liam enough to make such casual calls and besides if she was to work for him then she should conduct herself professionally in front of him. But then thinking of how he behaves around her, she changed her mind, he was totally unprofessional when he's with her.
At Liam's villa, one could hear a helicopter roar roar as it slowly landed at the field at the back of the mansion.
A few minutes later, there was a soft knock on Liam's office before the door was pushed open.
"You are here," Liam said to the intruder, not taking his eyes of the laptop screen in front of him.
"Yes," he answered. He was in a black suit and with his gold rimmed glasses on, he looked looked sharp and capable.
"Also boss, Mr President invited you to join him in a trip to B county," he added after sometime.
"What about Flora, where is she?" He asked still focused on whatever was on the screen.
"She's still at the old house, I heard that the old lady won't let her leave," he answered.
"Excuses," Liam muttered his expression turning cold. This father and daughter pair was really determined to cling onto him. Their small tricks made him loath them the more.
"Is there something else secretary Phil?" Liam asked looking up from his laptop.
"Umm...at the shareholders meeting yesterday...," Phil was still trying to force the words out of his mouth when Liam's phone rang. The phone was placed on the table with the screen up. Phil glanced at the name of the caller and was surprised, his boss had saved someone's name with a love emoji! That's so childish! Phil scolded his boss in his head, his lips twitching.
Liam ignored Phil's expression and picked the call, his previously cold face melting as a gentle smile appeared on his lips. Was this woman missing him already?
"Hello," he greeted getting up and walking to the window.
"Umm.... Liam, can you please tell me your full name," Val hurriedly stated her purpose of calling. She was feeling embarrassed. Liam just left like 50 minutes ago and yet here she was calling him.
"Liam Michaelson," Liam answered his face shining with a gentle and yet bright smile. Had she finally made up her mind? He wondered.
"Okay," she wanted to hang up when she heard him call her name.
"Valarie, have you made a decision?" Liam was previously not anxious but now he was. If he was to go to B country, he will not have time to look for a suitable teacher for Kelly and so Val was his best option. He believed in her ability to teach his nephew so he had to convince her to take the job.
"Let me give you an answer tomorrow," Valarie answered unaware of Liam's thoughts.
"Valarie, can you not turn me down? How about this, you come over tomorrow so that we can sign your work contract and I'll also deliver my promise to you," he urged. He had to make sure that Kelly has a teacher by the end of next week.
Valarie, hearing him fell silent. Apart from not knowing Liam well enough, she had nothing else against him.
"Please sir, let's wait until tomorrow," she insisted. It was better if she would be patient.
"Tomorrow it is then," Liam said hanging up.
Phil who was with Liam as he talked with Val was surprised. His boss was talking to someone gently. In fact it sounded as if his boss was asking someone to work for him! He had to admit, this was the first time he was hearing him request someone to work for him as it has always been the other way around. He wondered who that person was and what his boss needed from her?
After the call was disconnected, Val and Maggie immediately got to work.
"What! You mean the person who wants to employ you is Liam Michaelson? I thought it was someone with the same name!" Maggie exclaimed looking at Val.
"Yeah it's that person," Val said pointing at a picture on the screen. She was confused by Maggie's reaction. "Is there something wrong?" She asked her.
"No, no there's nothing wrong. It's just that we are talking about a Michaelson offering you a job! Val you know what, you should call him back right now and tell him that you are taking that job," Maggie excitedly urged Val.
"Why? Who's he?" Val asked still confused.
"Val let me tell you, you are dealing with a member of the most powerful family in our country. Do you know that even the president with his power can't compare to the Michaelsons?" Maggie looked like an excited teen talking about her favorite idol.
"Are they that powerful?" Although she had seen that Liam's rich, she never expected him to be a part of a powerful family.
"Very powerful, and although they rarely appear in front of the media, your Liam suddenly appeared in the limelight six months ago with the president's daughter, Flora."
"What?" Val wasn't expecting that.
"Yeah, Flora claimed that they are dating and there has been rumours that they will soon get engaged," Maggie said looking regretful. She thought her cousin have found a good match but unfortunately ,he was taken.
"They look like a good match," Val said scrolling through the pictures of Liam and Flora together. In one of the pictures, Flora gently leaned on Liam's shoulder with a small smile on her lips and although Liam had a poker face, it still didn't hide their beauty.
"I know right? But you know what, Liam or any Michaelson have never said anything in support of the president even after Liam's relationship with Flora came to light, it's rather surprising," Maggie had obvious done her research..
"Is it necessary?" Val didn't get it, simply because they are dating didn't mean Liam had to do anything for the president, did it?
"Very, if the Michaelsons speak in the favor of the president, then there is high a possibility that the ongoing riots will stop. A Country's citizens have a lot of trust in the Michaelsons." Maggie said sounding certain.
