You are getting engaged!

The Michaelsons had a lot of public trust, something the president had gradually lost since he took office three years ago. With riots against his governance going on all over the country, the president did have a reason to be worried. In their country, a president can take office for two terms when voted in by citizens and the current president wanted to be voted in again. However, the current situation was not favourable for him so he had to rely on people like the Michaelsons. If the Michaelsons support him in the next election, then his probability of winning will increase but if they support another candidate, his chances of winning will be close to impossible.

It's precisely because of these reasons that the president was tightly clutching on Liam's thigh, not letting go.

"Boss, what are you going to do with the president?" Phil asked Liam. Liam was in a difficult position right now. If he supported the president, the people might not accept that as the current president was being accused of numerous crimes including corruption, misuse of government resources, poor governance among others. Supporting the president might even backfire on them.

On the other hand, if they don't support him, he will seem disloyal and uncaring for his girlfriend's family. He might be avoiding being on the limelight but that doesn't mean that the public was not watching.

"Don't worry about him, I'll think of something," Liam's grandfather is a former president in their country. When he was in power, he worked on empowering his citizens. He also stabalized A country's economy winning the hearts of the citizens. Liam was not about to let all that go to drain because of a desperate father and daughter.

"Let's get going," he said to Phil exiting his office.

Phil followed Liam lost in thoughts. Although his boss was firm on his stance not to support the president, the president currently held some power and had a lot of allies. If he wants to go against the Michaelsons, he might cause unimaginable damage. And even though Liam had not done anything against or for him, he might lose his patience with Liam and chose to take him down. So his boss being neutral was not necessarily a good thing. Besides, his position in the Michaelson family was still unstable and thus he needed more allies and not enemies. The president understood this and that's why he was not afraid of Liam going against him.

"Boss, on the shareholders meeting yesterday, those people sounded restless." Phil hesitated for a moment before continuing, "they are demanding that you get the president to fully support the company."

Hearing this, Liam scoffed, "they want to force me to marry Flora?" Those people really didn't know their boundaries. Simply because he didn't publicly get involved in the companies activities didn't mean that he wasn't in control. Did they think that he will be scared by their lack of support?

"Don't worry about them, their time will come," he paused before asking, "what about Lucien, any movements from him lately?"

Phil immediately replied, "he seems to be preparing to come back."

Liam nodded his head, "when he gets back, I'll be a bit more busy."

30 minutes later, the chopper landed on the rooftop of one of the Michaelson's houses. It was located in the suburbs of C City, the capital. Liam took the stairs and headed to the first floor where the dining room was located, he was certain his grandmother was waiting for him there.

Stepping in the dining room, he walked towards his grandmother who was seated at the head of the table.

"Grandma," he called smiling at her. He had to admit that he had missed her.

Mrs Michaelson, seeing her grandson struggled to stand. "You little rascal, do you still remember that you have a grandmother?" She complained reaching out to hug Liam.

Liam had been staying with his grandmother since childhood. Time had strengthened the bond between the grandmother and grandson.

"I'm here now grandma," Liam said gently patting her back. His grandmother was getting old and he wanted to spend more time with her. She'd taken care of him when he was young and now was his turn to return the favor, unfortunately there were a lot of things he had to take care of.

"Where is my great grandson?" Grandma asked looking around.

"He didn't come with me today but he'll visit some other time grandma," Liam told her, helping her to sit.

"It's okay, that child has suffered, let's give him some time," she said pulling Liam to sit on the chair next to her.

"Call Flora, tell her that Liam's here," grandma Liam said to a maid making Liam purse his lips in dissatisfaction. He didn't wish to see that person.

"How have you been grandma? Do you usually take your medicine?" He asked trying to avoid the usual 'Flora topic '.

"I am fine, that doctor just doesn't want to give me a break otherwise I'll be good without those things," grandma complained. Just like everyone else, she hated taking medicines. She had been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure about five years ago and had been on medication since then.

"It's okay grandma, the doctor just wants to make you better," Liam comforted.

"Liam, you are here," an excited voice came from the stairs. Liam didn't need to look in order to know that it was Flora. Her voice alone was enough to give him a headache.

Grandma though didn't feel the same,"Flora you are here, come sit with us. I have something to say to the two of you."

Liam, hearing his grandmother had a bad premonition. Grandma didn't call him here today simply for a meal.

"Let's eat first grandma," Liam said trying to divert his grandmother's attention.

"No, this can't wait," grandma insisted then taking Liam's hand on one hand and Flora's in the other, she announced, "you two are getting engaged!"

"What?"

"Really!"

Liam and Flora exclaimed almost at the same time.

Liam wanted to disagree with his grandmother. There was no way he was going to marry someone like Flora. His dislike for her was so deep that he even felt disgusted by just sharing a table with her but not wanting to agitate his grandmother, he kept silent.

Flora on the other hand was very excited. She didn't know how long she'd wanted to marry Liam and now, her dream seems to be coming true.

She smiled softly, trying so hard to suppress her excitement. Seeing Liam's grim look, she said to Mary ,"grandma, you should let Liam and I discuss this first after all marriage is not a child's play."

Hearing her, Liam felt annoyed. Flora wasn't speaking up for him, her words were meant to remind grandma of his dissatisfaction.

Sure enough, grandma was angered. "What is there to discuss? It is precisely because marriage is not a child's play that I have made this decision. I have even informed both of your parents about this and they had no problem with it."

Flora, feeling satisfied with Mary's reply secretly smirked. With her support, Liam won't have any other choice but to engage and later marry her. She knew of grandma's plans and that is why she asked her father to invite Liam on a trip to B country. She was well aware of the fact that Liam had no feelings for her but that doesn't mean she can't have him. Since she now had the support of his elders, then she was going to do the rest. And she was going to make her move in B country.

She was already The First Daughter, nothing was going to stop her from taking a step or two higher to be a Michaelson!

Liam totally ignored Flora. Since she came, he hadn't said a single word to her. She was digging her own grave by being delusional about the engagement but since she didn't want to listen to him, then he will let her be smug for a few more days.

Putting food on his grandmother's plate, he told her, "grandma, eat more greens it is good for your health." His grandmother was his responsibility and so he wasn't going to hurt her with his problems. She was probably just worried about him and that's why she made that decision but he was going to be patient with her. With time, she was going to see Flora's true intentions, if she hadn't already.

After dinner, Liam was in a low spirit. His grandmother's announcement was not going to be easy to evade. He had to think of a way to completely get rid of Flora in their lives.

Liam took his phone and dialed a number. The call was picked in the second ring.

"Hey, do you think everyone is a single dog like you? Some of us are having a great time bye," the person at the end of the line complained, he was obviously displeased by Liam's late night call.

He wanted to immediately cut the call as he was in the middle of 'something' when  a cold threatening voice came through the phone's microphone, "Arthur, if you dare hang up on me then I'll send Cora that video."

"Okay fine you win, what do you want?" Arthur groaned wondering how he got himself a friend like Liam.

"Let's meet for a drink at the usual place, inform Ethan." Liam said before hanging up Arthur was infuriated, Liam was allowed to hang up while he wasn't? He felt in injustified!
