Chapter 139 Rescue

The two Moonlight Bodhisattvas streaked through the night like shooting stars, crashing toward the same spot—they were determined to eliminate this young man. They couldn't believe that someone in their twenties could possibly contend with two grand masters!

Wang Xuan remained vigilant, his body taut as faint golden light shimmered around him. He pushed the Golden Body Technique to its limits, wanting to gauge just how strong these so-called grand masters really were.

In his hand, the long knife gleamed brilliantly, trembling slightly, on the verge of being unable to withstand the secret power he was channeling. Wang Xuan sensed that this alloy knife would shatter after one or two more uses. With a swish, he swung it at one of the grand masters, the blade seeming to connect with the stars and moon above!

Roar!

The Moonlight Bodhisattva let out a thunderous roar, causing many to stumble backward, pale-faced, their blood surging, nearly collapsing to the ground.

He swung his fist, shattering the alloy long knife with a single blow. Fragments of the blade flew everywhere, instantly causing screams and splatters of blood.

The other grand master arrived as well, launching a powerful kick enveloped in dazzling white light aimed at Wang Xuan's back. However, he didn't expect that another powerful entity would strike first. The grand master horse kicked backward, both hooves aiming at him.

With a thud, the two forces collided. The grand master staggered back, his face twitching, and he landed awkwardly, limping upon contact with the ground. Though his bones weren't shattered, his feet throbbed with pain.

The grand master horse, capable of breaking alloy knives and crushing steel plates, was unbelievably powerful.

Noticing the white horse targeting him, the Moonlight Bodhisattva realized he was in danger, with the hooves digging into the ground, ready to strike if he made a move.

Meanwhile, Wang Xuan discarded the knife handle and charged in with his bare fists, swinging a punch!

With a loud bang, it sounded like thunder erupting. The two punches collided, sending surrounding grass and rocks flying, creating a terrifying scene.

Although Wang Xuan was still just a grand master, he was able to hold his own against the Moonlight Bodhisattva, leaving the grand master in disbelief as blood streamed from his hands, shattered by the force of the impact.

Nearby, the middle-aged man from the Qin family looked on in shock and quickly commanded his men to surround the young man, preparing to ambush him.

Suddenly, the Moonlight Bodhisattva spewed a blinding white light from his mouth. Upon entering the grand master level, he exhibited some extraordinary traits, able to use techniques akin to divine powers.

Wang Xuan dodged to the side, the white light cleanly slicing through a row of ancient trees in front of him—a stunning display of power. The trees fell, causing a massive commotion as branches snapped and leaves scattered.

Wang Xuan coldly assessed the Moonlight Bodhisattva's abilities; he could indeed hold his ground but there was no need for him to exhaust himself against this opponent.

The two clashed again!

The other party had special techniques, and the ability to release sword-like light from their mouths was Wang Xuan's only concern.

Without a sound, a shimmering mist enveloped Wang Xuan's forehead—this was his perfected mental domain, directly impacting the Moonlight Bodhisattva.

Back during the New Moon, he had researched ways to deal with these genetic super bodies. While their physical forms had ascended to the grand master level, their mental acuity was noticeably lacking—a vulnerability to exploit.

Against other grand masters, this might not be a problem, but against someone like Old Chen or Wang Xuan, the Moonlight Bodhisattva's weaknesses would be thoroughly exposed.

"Ah…"

The Moonlight Bodhisattva screamed, clutching his head, feeling as if his skull was being crushed, his brain threatening to explode with pain. Most critically, his mental awareness was blurring.

Wang Xuan leaped into the air, ready to stomp down on him, but at the last moment, he altered his approach. Instead, he pressed his palm onto the opponent's skull, causing it to cave in—he was clearly not going to survive.

Even the ruthless henchmen from the Qin family, who had abandoned all sense of rules, felt a chill run down their spines at the sight. A grand master had just been subdued and killed by a young man in his twenties?

The scene was utterly shocking to them!

Nearby, the Moonlight Bodhisattva, who had been confronting the grand master horse, couldn't believe his eyes—his companion had been taken down so quickly.

With a flash, he transformed into a streak of white light and fled. He felt no shame; no one could withstand a monster like this. Who wouldn't be afraid of someone who could effortlessly crush a grand master?

His reckless bravery turned to folly; instead of facing the threat, he ignored even the middle-aged man from the Qin family and fled.

Wang Xuan had vowed to exterminate these heartless executioners and would not let a single one escape, not even a grand master.

He pursued, his mental domain erupting like a waterfall, illuminating the dark forest.

The Moonlight Bodhisattva finally understood what had happened to his companion, and he too couldn't bear it. His fragile mental awareness shattered, he let out a chilling scream.

Simultaneously, his body lost balance, nearly tumbling to the ground.

Wang Xuan caught up and with a swift slap, crushed the Moonlight Bodhisattva's head into his chest cavity, ensuring he would never live again.

He controlled his strength, not wanting to splatter brain matter all over himself.

"Grand Master Horse, take the seven over there; I'll handle the fourteen here. Don't let a single one escape!" Wang Xuan commanded coldly, signaling the white horse to chase after the fleeing enemies.

Today was a day for bloodshed; he couldn't afford to let anyone slip away. If even one managed to report back to the Qin family, he would be forced to hide in the Secret Realm and could never return to New Star.

As for the middle-aged man from the Qin family, Wang Xuan had already charged over, breaking both of his legs to keep him alive for interrogation.

During the chase, Wang Xuan picked up a knife from the ground. Initially, it was for beheading, and as he pursued seven or eight people, he swiftly eliminated them all.

Afterward, he broke the knife into smaller pieces and threw them, shooting through the remaining foes.

His speed was simply too fast. The furthest anyone got was over a hundred meters, while the closest barely took a few steps before being beheaded.

Otherwise, if they scattered into the forest, it would have been difficult for Wang Xuan to track them all down.

The grand master horse was indeed telepathic; when Wang Xuan resonated with it through his mental domain, it understood most of his intentions.

Seven were trampled to death, and the eighth was rescued by Wang Xuan.

Aside from the middle-aged man from the Qin family, only one ruthless thug remained alive.

Wang Xuan separated the two for interrogation.

The middle-aged man from the Qin family, who had been cold and sinister earlier, trembled upon witnessing Wang Xuan kill two Moonlight Bodhisattvas and behead a group of experts, turning pale and answering any questions without hesitation.

Indeed, there was a base of the Qin family here, and it had existed for many years.

Here, there is a group of experts, all elites left over from various expeditions, raised entirely in this outpost. These people are not allowed to return to the New Star.

"Your eyes are flickering. What else are you hiding from me?" Wang Xuan stared at him, using his mental domain, nearly causing the man to collapse under pressure, and he instantly revealed everything.

This outpost is also a laboratory!

In the early years, aside from gene editing, the Moonlight Bodhisattva utilized the flesh and blood of ancient true bodhisattvas. In later stages, it was primarily nourished by extraordinary substances, gradually cultivated.

Extraordinary matter was discovered in the mysterious land by those in the New Technique domain, also known as the God Particle, and has been favored by major research institutions.

However, upon arriving at the Secret Realm, the God Particle **was eroded by substances!

In recent years, they have been cultivating a new type of Moonlight Bodhisattva based on X matter in the Secret Realm, believing that this might be the right path.

Not only that, but even higher-level Solar Bodhisattvas are being developed in the Secret Realm.

"Actually, this laboratory doesn't have any sophisticated instruments. Once transported here, they would be damaged by various mysterious energies. This outpost primarily provides those experimental subjects with the naturally occurring X matter."

Upon hearing this, Wang Xuan considered going directly to destroy that outpost.

But soon, he learned an important piece of news.

The so-called mad old man from the Qin family hadn't made his way deep into the Secret Realm; he was hiding in the outpost. Moreover, the group of experts he brought were also lurking there.

Wang Xuan's eyes turned cold upon hearing this. That old schemer was actually hiding in the rear!

A group of young people was trailing behind, hoping that a bunch of old men would pave the way for them, only to be brutally educated by reality.

"Wu Yin, Zheng Rui, and Zhong Qing—what happened to them? Did you capture them at the outpost, or did you really kill them all?" Wang Xuan pressed.

"They were driven into the Great Rift in front of us," said the middle-aged man from the Qin family.

The people from the Qin family were indeed ruthless, not considering human life at all. Once they were sure there would be no witnesses, they would dare to do anything.

Recently, they observed that injured extraordinary beings were escaping from deep within the Secret Realm, entering this great canyon.

When they settled here, a mysterious extraordinary creature engaged in a fierce battle with an ancient snake that was beginning to grow a horn, lasting for more than half a day. After that, there were no further movements.

If those two extraordinary beings perished together, it couldn't be better.

The Qin family was coveting the bodies of the extraordinary beings!

However, they dared not go in to investigate, so not long ago, they deliberately forced the surviving explorers into the Great Rift.

"You are truly vicious!" Wang Xuan struck down, breaking the man's shoulder.

Despite the middle-aged man trembling before him now, he was quite ruthless when in power, concocting all sorts of schemes.

Earlier, before tearing off the facade, he pretended to be benevolent, deceiving a group of young people into believing they were collaborating to harvest black gold dates.

In reality, he secretly spilled the blood of praying mantis hatchlings on some of the explorers that Wu Yin and Zhong Qing were with, provoking the mantis beasts to chase them.

Later, after revealing his true nature, he drove the survivors into the Great Rift to scout ahead.

"On the way, I encountered a young man from the Qin family who was with a Moonlight Bodhisattva. That young man said his brother was nearby, but I didn't see anyone."

"That was me," the middle-aged man replied bitterly.

"Then there were no witnesses left." With that, Wang Xuan killed him with a single blow.

The testimony of another thug was similar to that of the Qin family's middle-aged man; the only difference was that they had originally intended to capture Wu Yin and Zhong Qing alive, but they chose to escape into the Great Rift first.

Then, the thugs took the opportunity to drive everyone else in as well.

Wang Xuan sent him on his way, leaving no survivors.

He did not deal with the bodies; by late night, various monsters and beasts would come drawn by the scent of blood, leaving nothing behind.

In fact, some ferocious beasts were already revealing themselves, their green eyes staring this way.

The canyon's fissures extended for dozens of miles, quite deep, and this area was the only exit zone.

If there were any movements from the extraordinary beings in the canyon, there was enough time to retreat safely from such a distance.

Wang Xuan sighed, deciding to search the outskirts of the Great Rift. He dared not go too deep.

Because he clearly understood the vast gap between himself and the extraordinary beings; if he dared to challenge them, he would undoubtedly perish.

"I can only venture a little way inside; it's not that I lack determination, but rather that I am powerless." He estimated that a single ambush from an extraordinary being would spell his doom.

He passed through stone forests and lakes, eventually discovering a large expanse of marshland ahead.

Upon reaching here, Master Ma became a bit anxious, continuously exhaling white light from his nostrils.

After walking more than ten miles, Wang Xuan indeed found living explorers hiding in a muddy pit in the marsh, their faces covered in mud, barely breathing.

If it weren't for Wang Xuan's astonishing mental domain, he might have missed them in the dark.

"Come out; the Qin family has left," Wang Xuan called out.

"You..." Zheng Rui was nearly scared out of his wits. Seeing it was Wang Xuan, he was even more shocked, almost eating a mouthful of mud.

He had witnessed Wang Xuan rescuing Zhao Qinghan, only for her to be taken away by a monster. Now, how could Wang Xuan appear before him? Was he dead too, encountering him in the underworld?

"Hurry out! If the Qin family returns, you won't be able to escape!" Wang Xuan urged.

"I can't get out! If no one comes soon, I'll completely sink and suffocate!" Zheng Rui strained to lift his head.

Wang Xuan found a branch, handed it to him, and pulled him out. He was covered in mud and looked quite miserable.

Not far away, Master Yang Lin from the New Technique domain was also found, similarly hiding in the muddy water.

Wang Xuan continued along the marsh and found six more mud-covered people.

The seventh person was actually Zhong Qing, looking quite disheveled; her hair had turned into mud, and she was submerged from the neck down. If left for a while longer, her head would also sink.

A few water snakes swam nearby. She was naturally terrified of snakes and insects, her face turning pale, and her lips trembling.

Wang Xuan used a branch to pull her, struggling but eventually succeeding, as she was so shaken she had lost her strength. Once pulled up, her arms and legs were limp.

Wang Xuan grimaced at her muddy appearance, looking like a mud monkey, and didn't want to carry her, directly tossing her onto Master Ma's back.

As a result, Master Ma stumbled and threw Zhong Qing, who was lying on his back, flying off, landing back in the muddy water with a splat.

Zhong Qing nearly cried; it was the first time in her life someone had found her so distasteful. Not only that, but even the horse seemed to disdain her!

Wang Xuan fished her out, enduring the smell of mud, pinching his nose as he tried to carry her, but the moment she touched him, he couldn't help but toss her out again.

"What do you have on you? It's not just uncomfortable; it's also prickly!" Wang Xuan said. He had mastered the Golden Body Technique, so he wasn't actually hurt; he was just pretending to be injured.

Zhong Qing, usually sharp-tongued, was now utterly speechless in embarrassment and rage.

Finally, she remembered the situation, silently turned away, and pulled out steel plates with spikes from her clothes, one from her chest and one from her back.

Wang Xuan was speechless; this girl was too ruthless—more so than him! He only had a few thick steel plates, but she had spiked ones!

The others present were equally dumbfounded.

Wang Xuan pondered that this might be related to him; back in Old Earth, Zhong Qing had once taken a punch from him and almost fainted.

Was she activating her self-defense mechanism to the fullest?

This time, when he placed her back on Master Ma, although the horse still seemed to disdain her, exhaling white light from its nostrils, it at least didn't throw her off again.

The atmosphere grew heavier afterward. Wang Xuan searched this area again, only to find corpses—seriously injured and lifeless.

"Wu Yin? Where is she?" Wang Xuan asked.

"She should have escaped further in," said Yang Lin, the master from the New Technique domain.

The area ahead was no longer marshland but rather a series of fissures and pits, filled with many caves.

Soon, Wang Xuan rescued a female explorer from a fissure, who looked pale, as if she had been greatly frightened.

"Where's Wu Yin?" Wang Xuan asked her.

The woman broke into tears, saying, "Sister Wu Yin... was eaten by a monster!"

"What did you say?!" Wang Xuan stared at her.

"Impossible!" Zhong Qing, regaining some composure, found it hard to accept or believe the news.

"She was grabbed by a monster emitting black light and flew away. Blood fell all around in the air, and I... I didn't dare to move," the woman sobbed.

There was indeed blood on the ground, and some on the clothes of the female explorer as well.

"Wu Yin actually..." Wang Xuan sighed, suddenly becoming incredibly silent.

He searched this area for a long time, finding nothing.

The group remained silent; too many people had died today, and their spirits were heavy.

"Sister Wu, did she leave any messages?" Zhong Qing asked. Although she had always been in a rivalry with Wu Yin, she felt deeply saddened upon learning of her probable death.

"We scattered and hid in different fissures. Sister Wu said if the Qin family found us, she would commit suicide first. I never expected she would be taken by a monster..." the female explorer choked up again.

Then she seemed to remember something, saying, "Sister Wu carved some messages in the fissure where she was hiding. They should resemble a farewell."

Wang Xuan entered that fissure and indeed found some carvings. Zhong Qing leaned in, nodding, "This is Sister Wu's handwriting."

Wu Yin had left six sentences related to her family, expressing her longing for them and her fear of never seeing them again.

The last sentence she wrote, then crossed out, only to rewrite it simply stated: "Send the scripture I found to Little Wang in Old Earth, Wang Xiao."

Upon seeing that last sentence, Wang Xuan felt as if his heart had been tightly gripped by someone; she mentioned him, yet she had completely left.
