Chapter 5: Ensure the Xian Family doesn't grow even a blade of grass

The crowd stared wildly at each other at this sudden turn of events. Not even Xian Wu, now gold core Realm, had sensed it coming, but Xian Yue did. He seemed to have finally reached the Soul formation Realm.

This was said to be a realm in which a cultivator could develop 'divine consciousness,' a power so beyond the ordinary that it would allow people to see things their ordinary senses couldn't.

Xian Wu thought over how his son had gotten to this level without anyone noticing. He decided to ask him once things calmed down.

"Wu, are you bringing that spiritual weapon this time?" the Great Elder Xian Feng asked.

Earlier, Xian Wu had been set upon by the three rival families because he had not brought his spiritual weapon along. Had he brought the Third Grade weapon, his injuries might not have been so severe.

Xian Wu smiled. "With Xian Yue by my side, what need is there for a Third Grade spiritual weapon?"

Xian Feng blinked, bowing respectfully. "Ah, of course. I almost forgot that we now have someone so incredibly powerful in our family!"

Xian Yue's rise to power had come so swift that Xian Feng could hardly really grasp the magnitude of it.

"My father is correct," Xian Yue said now all of a sudden with bravado. "Now that I'm here, spiritual weapons don't matter. Feel free to do whatever you want from now on. When something comes up, I will be dealing with it."

Xian Wu looked grave once more. "Xian Yue, do not let your power inflate your head. There's someone always stronger than you. Keep a humble and low profile."

But Xian Yue shook his head resolutely. "My strength surpasses everything in this realm. There's no need for any doubt at all. Soon enough, everyone will come to see just how invincible I am."

The others exchanged uneasy glances. Xian Yue's confidence bordered on arrogance and seemed too dangerous to be close to.

As they stepped out, Xian Yue's mother, Yu Zhen spoke. "Yue, did you ever see the Heavenly Dao Golden List floating in the sky? Those figures even Supreme Realm ones who appear on that are truly unmatched in power, but it definitely is not the strongest. You must remember this and make sure not to become arrogant and proud yourself, okay?"

Heavenly Dao's Golden List was publishing the universe's best cultivators. More than seventy names of Supreme Realm had been printed already.

"I have said that the Supreme Realm is so much lower than me, then why are you guys so hard to believe?" Xian Yue comforted his mother. "And don't worry, I'll keep a low profile from now on."

With her son showing such a willingness to hear her out, if only even partially, Yu Zhen let out a deep breath. The family could ill afford for Xiao Chen's hubris to undo all of their hard efforts for fruit.

"The patriarch is coming out!"

Outside the meeting hall, a throng of Xian family members had been gathered, concern piqued by their leader's injuries.

"Haha, don't mind me! I'm fine," said Xian Wu with a big grin of relief to try and comfort those around him.

"But Patriarch, you are still bloody! You must have been severely injured!" cried an elderly clan member, obviously full of care and worry.

Xian Wu, who was still drenched in blood, waved his hands dismissively. "It's true that I was terribly injured, but I'm recovered. There's no need for concern anymore."

The clan elders nodded as if to say that words of their leader were endorsement enough from the ancestors themselves. Then Xian Wu threw a bombshell. "I have also appointed Xian Yue as the new patriarch of the Xian family. From today forward, he will lead us."

Shock waves went through the crowd. Was this more astonishing than the patriarch recovering?

Boom!

Inside the Xian family estate came a thunderous crash. Someone had broken open a gate.

The Cao, Ma, and Fu families had overseers who headed the invading forces, each man bringing with him his clansmen. They stormed inside, upsetting everything in their path: buildings collapsed, and trees caught fire.

Xian Yue gazed around at the devastation. But no family member was hurt inside. The Great Elder and others would have proceeded with caution; they should be fine. He made his way forward into the throng of people.

"Demolish everything to the ground! Kill everything and loot all their treasure. I want to see the whole Xian family get annihilated-not a single blade of grass growing there!" an elder from the Fu family bellowed.

The three clans had delayed their attack in light of the surprise emergence of the Heavenly Dao Golden List, but they now moved at speed to prevent any unsuspecting interference.

They had come to completely wipe out the Xian family, capture their Third Grade spiritual weapon, and dominate their spiritual mine.

"Do you really believe you're able to halt the prosperity of the Xian family?" Xian Wu shouted as he and several other members of the Xian clan stepped forward in front of the invaders.

"Xian Wu? You are still alive?" shouted Ma Hegong and Cao Cheng in amazement at his standing by the side of Xiao Chen, whom they even thought was long dead.

"I will live longer than any of you!" Xian Wu spoke with a cold tongue.

He was a short, paunchy man standing at the gold core Realm. His eyes narrowed. "Since you're still alive, we'll settle this ourselves." He drew out a silver long blade etched with mysterious symbols—a Second Grade spiritual weapon, the pride of the Fu family.

The two other family heads, unwilling to risk a single thing, brandished their Second Grade spiritual weapons, their faces bitter.

By then, they meant to kill Xian Wu, but he was hurt too, and the three of them realized something if he still clung to his Third Grade spiritual weapon, things became a little grim-they had to be cautious while taking their steps. Some serious injuries would make them an easy prey for some other clans plunder.

It's going to be one tough fight.
