Lin Xiaohan realized that she might have been a little too harsh, her face turning red with embarrassment. She quickly stood up and walked toward the office door.
Jason Liu watched as Lin Xiaohan disappeared out the door, feeling confused. He wondered if she had come just to tell him that, and whether she was upset about something.
Scratching his head, Jason Liu decided not to dwell on it. He grabbed the car keys from the table and drove down to the warehouse.
Driving the van into the warehouse, Jason Liu prepared for his journey to Westeros. He had everything arranged at the company and trusted that nothing would go wrong in his absence.
Once again, he teleported to the castle warehouse in the Winter Shelter. He called Lena, Barlow, and the others to help him take out the large four-wheeled carriage.
When the five large carriages, along with a slightly smaller one, appeared in the warehouse, Lena and the others were taken aback. They didn't know when Mr. Jason had arrived, but since he was always mysterious, they knew better than to ask. Despite their curiosity, they kept quiet.
Barlow stepped forward. "Go and get some people to move the carriage with the Easter family crest from the warehouse!" Jason Liu instructed him.
"Yes, my lord. I'll get them now!" Barlow ran off to find soldiers training nearby.
"Barron, go and bring two horses here," Jason Liu added.
"Yes, my lord. I'll go now!" Barron replied before running off to fetch the horses.
With Barron taking care of the horses, Jason Liu invited Lena, Venissa, and Bella to take a look inside the carriage.
"Wow, this is such a big carriage!" Lena exclaimed.
"The crystal lamps are beautiful! But how do you light them? Where does the oil go?" Venissa asked.
"This bed is so soft! It's just like the one in Lord Jason's room, and it bounces when you sit on it! Hee hee!" Bella giggled.
The girls chattered excitedly, admiring the decorations inside the carriage.
"The lights don't need oil," Jason Liu said, switching on the crystal light above them. "You just turn on the switch, and the lights come on."
The battery had already been partially charged, enough to power the lights.
"Wow, it's bright!" Lena gasped. "It's way brighter than an oil lamp!"
"How did you make this work, sir?" Venissa asked. "No oil, yet it lights up so brightly!"
Jason Liu blinked, unsure how to explain electricity to the girls. Finally, he said, "This involves a very deep knowledge from my homeland—electricity! You can think of it like this: when the carriage moves, it creates something called electricity. This electricity powers the lights, making them shine."
Though the word "electricity" was unfamiliar to them, they understood that it was something different from candles and lamp oil, but it worked in a similar way to provide light.
Barlow arrived with Jon, McCann, dicken, Bud, Marb, Kent, and Rubin.
"Sir—" they all greeted, bowing respectfully, happy to see their master again.
"Let's get this carriage out of the warehouse!" Jason Liu instructed, and everyone worked together to push the four-wheeled carriage out.
Though the large carriage weighed about 1,200 kg (over a ton), it was relatively easy to move, thanks to the lubricating oil between the wheels and bearings. It didn't take much effort at all.
Jon and the others easily pushed the heavy carriage into the small school field.
Barron returned with two horses to pull the carriage. These horses had been bought for hauling wood during the construction of the house. Since then, they had mostly been kept in the horse country for feeding and weren't used much.
Barlow helped Barron guide the two horses into the carriage. Following Jason Liu's instructions, Barlow, who had driven the carriage before, took his place on the driver's seat at the front, holding the reins.
"Go!" Barron urged the horses, and they trotted forward.
The carriage, pulled by two horses, began to circle around the schoolyard.
"Wow, can it really run so easily with just two horses pulling such a big carriage?" Jon asked, surprised by how easily the two horses managed the load.
McCann, listening closely, added, "I don't hear the usual creaking of the wooden wheels! It's so much quieter than the heavy wooden carriages we usually see!"
"How does it work?" Jon asked. "The bottom of the carriage is made of steel, but it's running so smoothly, even though it's so heavy!"
"It's amazing!" Bud, Marb, Rubin, Kent, and the others couldn't help but talk among themselves, their faces full of awe.
"Barlow, stop!" Jason Liu called out, and Barlow halted the horses. "Now, let's all get on the carriage and try it out for ourselves! I promise, this is the best carriage in all of Westeros!"
Jon and the others, still curious, climbed onto the carriage. They marveled at the spaciousness and luxurious interior, feeling like they had never seen anything like it.
Lena, Venissa, and Bella sat on the bed at the back, while Jon took a seat on one of the benches at the long oval table in the middle.
Even though 12 people had climbed aboard, the carriage still felt roomy, with no sense of overcrowding.
Once everyone was settled, Barlow cracked the whip in the air, and the two horses trotted forward once again.
Even with 13 people on board, including Barlow on the driver's seat, the two horses managed to pull the carriage smoothly.
Compared to the typical wooden carriages of Westeros, which were heavy and noisy, this modern carriage glided effortlessly. The wooden wheels of Westeros carriages caused significant friction against the axles, making them harder to pull. This modern carriage, however, had high-quality bearings that reduced friction, making it much easier for the horses to pull.
Soon, Jon and the others noticed that the carriage wasn't just efficient; it also had fantastic shock absorption. Despite the bumps in the field, they could barely feel any of the usual jolts that came with riding in a typical carriage.
