The convoy roared down the mountain peak and, within minutes, approached the crimson city gates. Their pace gradually slowed as they joined the line of people waiting quietly to enter the city.
"Mr. Mo Yu, where are you planning to go next?" asked Ge Duo, bringing the convoy to a stop after they paid the entry fee.
"I'll explore the city for a bit. By the way, where can I find the best selection of weapon refining materials in Di Yan City?" Mo Yu jumped down from the carriage, looking up as he asked.
"Materials, huh? Well, that would be the Di Yan Sect, but they don't sell their materials to outsiders. You could try the Hundred Refinements Pavilion," Ge Duo replied with a smile.
"Thanks. In that case, I'll take my leave here. We can talk more another time." Nodding slightly to Ge Duo, Mo Yu slipped into the bustling crowd and quickly disappeared.
Walking slowly along the street, Mo Yu's eyes scanned the shops lining either side.
In less than a hundred meters, he had already witnessed several brawls, even blade fights.
Indeed, only the toughest survive in the Black-Corner Domain.
Avoiding some of the bloodier scuffles, Mo Yu rounded two street corners and, after another twenty minutes of walking, spotted a large shop sign with ancient characters reading "Hundred Refinements Pavilion" on a reddish board.
"This should be it," he murmured and quickened his pace, stepping into the grand-looking establishment.
Inside the Hundred Refinements Pavilion, the area was spacious, with rows of carefully arranged counters displaying various materials and equipment.
Many customers browsed in front of the counters, and their lively conversations filled the room.
Mo Yu's gaze swept over the counters, nodding slightly.
With just a glance, he could tell the pavilion had a solid foundation. Rare materials, hard to find even in the Jia Ma Empire, were casually displayed in the main hall here.
However, as his eyes passed over the price tags below the materials, he shook his head slightly. Although the Hundred Refinements Pavilion was well-stocked, their prices were several times higher than the usual market rate.
After a moment of browsing, Mo Yu's gaze finally settled on the last counter, where a glimmer of excitement crossed his eyes.
From his observations, he had found most of the auxiliary materials he needed to forge the Spirit-Merging Holy Chalice. However, he hadn't seen any of the primary materials.
He wasn't surprised; the Spirit-Merging Holy Chalice was a sixth-grade weapon, and its main components were exceptionally rare. Even a place as reputable as the Hundred Refinements Pavilion wouldn't likely display them openly.
The primary materials he sought included the Fire Spark Stone, Crimson Essence Copper, Seven-Colored Ancient Vine, and a sixth-rank soul-type magic core.
These names alone hinted at their rarity, and the soul-type magic core, in particular, was exceedingly scarce. Sixth-rank magic cores were rare to begin with, as they came from magical beasts comparable to human Dou Huang experts. Even in the Black-Corner Domain, Dou Huang experts were few and far between.
Not to mention a soul-type magical beast, a rarity compared to the more common fire and water types.
Shaking his head, Mo Yu stopped dwelling on it for now and focused on gathering the auxiliary materials for the Spirit-Merging Holy Chalice.
The Hundred Refinements Pavilion indeed lived up to its fame in the Black-Corner Domain, as he had managed to collect almost all the necessary auxiliary materials here.
However, he calculated that buying all these materials would cost around a million gold coins.
Although he didn't mind spending the gold, he didn't have that much on him at the moment.
After a moment's thought, Mo Yu decided to use all the gold he had to buy some standard crafting materials. He could then forge a few weapons and sell them at auction.
With so many powerful cultivators in the Black-Corner Domain, high-grade weapons would likely sell better than in other places.
With that decision made, he spent half an hour selecting materials for crafting an Ice and Fire Duality Sword and a Formation-Breaking Overlord Spear before leaving the Hundred Refinements Pavilion.
After another ten minutes of walking, he stopped in front of a small inn named Ru Jia Inn. After a brief hesitation, he entered.
In a quiet room, Mo Yu laid out the materials he had purchased. After a moment's pause, he began crafting.
To ensure he could earn the one million he needed, he chose to forge two fourth-grade weapons.
The Ice and Fire Duality Sword, as its name suggested, could switch between ice and fire attributes and even unleash a mixed elemental attack. For a cultivator with both ice and fire attributes, it would be a highly suitable weapon.
The Formation-Breaking Overlord Spear, on the other hand, was simpler. It was a massive, imposing spear capable of shattering formations, ideal for those who favored brute force.
As time passed, Mo Yu completed the refiner process after two hours of work.
Looking at the dazzling, red-and-blue-glowing sword and the towering, intimidating black spear, he let out a sigh of relief.
Given his previous skill level, refining two fourth-grade weapons was nothing difficult, but being able to do it smoothly now was a blessing.
With a wave of his hand, the two weapons hovered in midair, emitting a faint hum before he stored them in his beast ring.
"These two fourth-grade weapons are the seed money I need to get rich," Mo Yu muttered, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Since arriving in the Black-Corner Domain, he realized how desperately he needed money. Even auxiliary materials required a hefty amount, let alone the primary materials.
The Black-Corner Domain was a treasure trove waiting to be mined, and Mo Yu knew that money was essential for him to make the most of it.
After a short rest, he left his room and made his way to the city's largest auction house, the Di Yan Auction House.
Ten minutes later, he found himself at the end of a crowded street, gazing up at the imposing auction house. Compared to the Mite-er Family Auction House in the capital of the Jia Ma Empire, this place was on a completely different scale.
The Black-Corner Domain was indeed a place worth exploring.
Keeping his head low, Mo Yu pulled his long black cloak tighter, the hood's shadow concealing his face.
In this unfamiliar and dangerous region, he had no desire to reveal his identity.
Following the crowd, he entered the auction house. Inside, giant screens hung around the hall, displaying a continuous scroll of auction items. Mo Yu gave it a quick glance but didn't spot anything particularly interesting.
Naturally, the true treasures would be saved as the finale.
His gaze scanned the area and finally stopped on a door labeled "Appraisal Room." After a moment of thought, he walked over and entered.
The large appraisal room was divided into over a hundred small booths to ensure privacy.
As Mo Yu entered, a beautiful attendant approached him with a charming smile. "Sir, are you here for an appraisal or to have items assessed for auction?"
"The latter," he replied in a neutral tone.
"This way, please." The attendant's smile grew as she turned and led him further inside.
After walking nearly thirty meters, she stopped in front of a small booth, bowed respectfully, and said, "Sir, please hand your items to the appraiser inside. Once they assess your items' rarity, they will assign you a corresponding auction seat."
Mo Yu nodded, gently pushed open the black wooden door, and entered, closing it behind him.
Inside, a plain-looking middle-aged man briefly glanced at Mo Yu, but his gaze revealed little due to Mo Yu's concealed appearance.
"Take a seat," the man said casually, tidying his tools. "Place your items on the table."
Without a word, Mo Yu waved his hand, and the Ice and Fire Duality Sword and Formation-Breaking Overlord Spear appeared on the table.
"Weapons?"
The man blinked in surprise, his gaze resting on the two items as a hint of amazement flickered in his eyes.
He donned a pair of transparent gloves and carefully examined the weapons. After a moment, his expression changed slightly as he asked in astonishment, "Are these... fourth-grade weapons?"
Mo Yu nodded and explained the unique attributes of each weapon before adding, "Since you recognize them as fourth-grade weapons, you should know their worth. Please help me estimate a starting bid."
"According to the valuation standard here in the Black-Corner Domain, this Ice and Fire Duality Sword should start at around 500,000. If a compatible cultivator shows interest, it could sell for as high as a million."
"As for the Formation-Breaking Overlord Spear, it appeals to a broader audience, so the starting price is around 600,000. However, it may not reach as high as the sword but won't go for less than 800,000 either."
"Sir, your items have qualified for our auction house's second-grade VIP level. Here's your seating number for the event this afternoon. Please be sure to sit in your designated section." The man carefully placed the weapons down and handed Mo Yu a golden card made of crimson foil.
Mo Yu accepted the card, nodding. "Can I leave now?"
"Of course, sir," the man said with a smile.
Without further ado, Mo Yu left the room.
Watching the door close and hearing the fading footsteps, the man tapped his fingers on the table and glanced thoughtfully at the two fourth-grade weapons.
"I've never seen this person before, but being able to produce two fourth-grade weapons at once, he must be a skilled weapon refiner. And of considerable rank too…"
"A fourth-grade weapon refiner is rare in the Black-Corner Domain. I imagine the sect leaders and senior members from all over will be interested in this auction. Should be exciting…"
