Chapter Three: What time is it?

"Angela, are you there?" Kira said after knocking on the door of her best friend's apartment. She had a worried look on her face when she didn't hear any response from the house.

She was about to turn around and leave to check for her at her work place when she heard the dog bark. "Polar" Kira called to have the dog bark in excitement and made him to start scratching the door, it was this scratching noise that made Angela to wake up from her deep sleep.

"Polar! What the fuck is wrong with you?" Angela said with her sleepy eyes as she made her way to the living room to know what caused her dog to start barking and scratching the door, only for her to hear the voice of her friend Kira outside.

She opened the door for her friend to enter inside and immediately she entered Polar pounced on her as a form of greeting.

"Okay, okay buddy I missed you too" Kira giggled when Polar licked her face. She patted the furry animal and gave him a dog snack which made him leave her for the mean time while her attention went back to her friend who was lying on the couch as if she was about to doze off again.

"Don't tell me that you want to sleep off again" Kira said which startled Angela from her half-asleep state.

She yawned and rubbed her eyes in an attempt to rid herself of the sleep was slipping back into her eyes again. "what time is it? Angela asked with sleepy eyes.

"9:30 am" replied Kira, this was enough to get rid of the sleep in Angela's eyes as she was shocked at the time and not only that, but because she had never slept in this late.

"9:30?!" she asked again to confirm that she wasn't hearing things.

"Yes, sleeping beauty, it is 9:30" came the amused reply from Kira. "You have never slept in Angie, what happened this time? Did you sleep in late or where you working overtime for extra pay?" Kira never understood why her friend left home to rent an apartment and get a job when she was very well aware that her parents were stinking rich and could afford all the luxuries any girl could ever wish for, but her friend here was working her butts off and still trying to see herself through college by without any assistance from her parents and she always wondered why.

"Something happened yesterday at work" started Angela

"Crazy Joe decided that he was going to make my day yesterday terrible by throwing iced-coffee at a really good-looking dude that came to buy some stuff yesterday. You know we all take turns in cleaning the restaurant and unfortunately for me after staying there overnight two days ago in order to help me lessen the work load that was when he decided to be throwing coffee all over the place…" Angela didn't know she was talking to herself since after the part when she mentioned 'a really good-looking dude' which left her friend a little speechless because Angie never found guys attractive but her friend just called this guy 'really good-looking', this was getting interesting thought Kira who wasn't aware that her friend just asked a question which made Angela realize that her friend's mind has drifted.

Angela snapped her fingers in front of Kira's face

"To earth Kira. What were you thinking about that had your mind so occupied?"

"Nothing. Please continue, you said there was this really good-looking dude." Kira said to have Angela raise one of her eyebrows in confusion because that had nothing related to the question she just asked, only for her to narrow her eyes after realizing what her friend just did there.

"Come on Kira. Really?" asked Angela to her friend in disbelief to have her friend shrug. "What? It's not like you don't know why I'm looking at you like that Angie, you never call any guy 'really good-looking' even Chris Hemsworth looks plain to you so forgive me for being shocked your royal majesty" Kira bowed down while trying to hold in her laughter.

If Angela was being honest with herself, she knew that Kira was right and she even wondered why she called the guy really good-looking to begin with, brushing the thought to the back of her mind.

"Why are you here so early anyway?" Angela asked to receive a look from Kira who looked at her like she was joking with the question that she just asked but when her expression did not change and she realized that she was really serious.

"You got to be kidding me, right?" seeing Angela shake her head.

"Angie, we were supposed to go window shopping and you promised to take me to your work place to show me around the place" said Kira in a sad and heartbroken voice with her eyes looking like those anime girls when they are sad.

"I'm really sorry I forgot about it, Kira, there is still time. Just wait let me clean up the place and take a shower, okay?" Angela tried to lighten Kira's mood

"I would help you clean the place up to let you shower so that we'd leave early" said Kira while sulking because she was still sad that Angela forgot the plans that they made previously while she went ahead to get the automated vacuum cleaner so that it would start cleaning while she started to arrange the apartment when Angie went to take a shower.

The apartment was very well furnished to an extent, there was a sofa and a really comfy long couch and a reading table by a corner of the living room. A bin bag and dog mat for Polar with his feeder and drinker, some plants here and there with a tv set and stereo set. She saw some pictures on top of the reading table that had a lot of books on it with a reading lamp and a recycled cup for keeping pens and pencils.

After Kira finished cleaning the living room which wasn't really messy, she made her way to the kitchen to make pancakes and hot coco with marshmallows for Angie and she brought Polar's food and some water.

Polar is a very well-trained dog, still funny how Angie said she found him on the street as a stray. She knew that if she was the one she would have never took a stray animal in, she'd rather go to a pet store or kennel and get a dog, not that she had anything against strays it's just that after her family took in a stray dog that had rabies and ended up infecting everyone including herself which led to them being quarantined and she was also called the rabies girl when she was little and the other neighbors kids wouldn't play with her even in school and was left alone like a plague even though they were cured nobody wanted to have anything to do with them.

Being constantly bullied and picked on because of it made her not to have any friends she shuddered remembering it. Thank God that they moved out to another country to have a fresh start but the universe had other plans because unknown to her a really nosy journalist took a picture of them and posted in the papers 'The Mitchel's caught up in a Rabies situation'.

A really mean girl Vanessa, I didn't know how she got hold of it but she didn't stop there she made posters and shared it all over the school just to humiliate her. What Kira feared was happening, as if that was not enough, she was making fun of her in class because she very popular and the whole class was laughing at her she was about to leave the class when Angela held her hand.

"Sit down Kira" Angela told her and Kira sat down she didn't like the fact that she was noticed by the two most popular girls in school and in their class, one was the really smart and rich kid Angela while the other was just cute to look at.

"Seems like the rabies girl found a friend" Vanessa mocked and the whole class laughed at her mean comment towards Kira.

"Shut the fuck up Vanessa!" Angela yelled at Vanessa and everybody was shocked because Angela rarely talked not to talk of raising her voice at anyone, but everyone could see that Angela was not in a good mood.

"Don't you fucking raise your voice at me, you bitch!" Vanessa yelled back.

Angela smiled and said "You know Vanessa, being mean doesn't suit you at all especially when the person that you are bullying is way smarter and cuter than you. Don't tell me that you are jealous that she would steal all the attention from a dumb ass like you, mmhmm? Or did I say it all wrong?" Vanessa froze because what she said was true and she was furious because Kira smiled while she stewed in anger, she rushed to slap Kira when Angela blocked her way.

"I believe that I was the one that said something not the shy girl that you want to hit, since you are looking for who throw punches at I'm right here" Angela gave Vanessa a really hard glare challenging her to hit her but Vanessa knew better because Angela had once beat up a guy who had lots of muscles who was a bully and even the teachers were afraid of him, he intentionally pushed her food down to the floor and he knew this would get her cleaning and cafeteria duty and gave a cocky smile before he was about to leave she told him to apologize and also admit that he was the one who did throw the food down but he didn't which made her lose her cool and rushed the guy, beating him as the poor guy was screaming and begging for mercy and she told him that he should have thought about that before throwing her food away.

Before she could hit again the teachers came and dragged her off to the principals office who was not happy but was only internally that this little girl beat up the bully that was giving everyone a headache after giving both of them detention for a week, everyone stayed clear of Angela Stone.

So, all Vanessa could do was glare before she went back to her seat, Kira thanked Angela for standing up for her, something that she couldn't do for herself. Since that incident she started to hang out with Angela and they became best friends who played, studied together and other stuff. They even applied to the same college with different majors but they made out time to spend together before she could think more about what happened in the past,

"I'm ready Kira, let's go" Angela shouted from the kitchen after eating the pancakes and hot coco that she made. She grabbed her purse and her phone that was plugged in the corner to charge.

"Alright then, Polar come here boy we're going out" said Kira to receive a happy bark from the dog. After locking up, they left the apartment and turned to go the market that was four blocks away without knowing that someone who left a coffee shop saw them leave and that person left with a smirk on his lips. "Interesting" the stranger said before leaving in the opposite direction.
