.....
Incidentally, Reniella discovering and shutting down the black crow was the first act that made her quite beloved, and ever since then, she's been on a roll of success after success, something that only made him despise her more and more.
"hmm"
The man with the apron hummed and the prince mouthed some words, the words being "I'm receiving a missive" before he received a nod from the man.
The two men did not exchange any words out loud and the prince was given a stack of envelopes, which he tucked under his cloak and left as the door was closed behind him.
Alexius quickly returned home; however, before doing so, he meandered about, going in random directions and alleys before he boarded an inconspicuous carriage that drove him back to the castle.
Within the carriage, he took off the cloak and began sorting through the envelopes; sitting opposite him was a man with shiny black hair that extended below his shoulders, and he had honey-brown eyes.
"So are you gonna share the information with me or not?"
The man asked with a bit of impatience in his voice; despite his long hair, his face had sharp masculine features that made it clear that he was a man.
"I haven't even opened them yet"
Alexius responded, his tone and creased brows conveying that he was annoyed.
"And what's keeping you from opening them"
"Can you not!"
Alexius snapped, causing the man to raise a brow at him.
This man the young prince had for company was the son of a Duke, Alfred Edward Be Hendrix, he was a cousin to Alexius and his only friend.
"You seem unenthused, what's your problem?"
"The peasants are talking about my sister, singing her praises again!"
"Can you blame them? She's been consistent with her actions as the princess, before her current accomplishment, she resolved the issue with the churches, without her that would have been a civil war"
Alfred explained that before the current neutrality between the varying beliefs within the Kingdom, many citizens had despised each other purely on religious beliefs, some believing their god superior to other known gods, others proclaiming it to be the only true religion.
It was a mess that both the King and Queen had trouble dealing with, and one Reniella solved it by suggesting that everyone be free to worship whichever God they wished; that way, no one church could force their beliefs on others.
Although It was not foolproof as there are still a few sects around that still claim religious superiority, it did, however, lead to the current peace amongst the different religions of the Kingdom.
"Shut up; I'd rather not hear about how great she is from you, of all people."
Alexius said as he opened an envelope from Count Paul who was staying in Hen city.
Reading the letter, he found that Nathaniel(Eon) was now in Hen City. That wasn't good news as the city wasn't one he had any control over, but that was fine. However, the prince found something surprising written in the letter.
"Worry not Your Highness, I will ensure your plan succeeds"
Such were the words written on the letter, words that confused Alexius, as he didn't disclose his reasons for placing the bounty on Nathaniel to anyone yet.
What he wanted from Nathaniel was to find out how the failure became strong enough to be able to survive a fight against Siegfrued, in hopes that such a secret could help him get a boost in strength for the sword tournament.
He was aware some witches could do something like boost one's strength and power; however, looking for one would deplete his resources.
The bounty was placed because, he wanted to test how strong Nathaniel had become, and because he knew that eventually Nathaniel would find out about the bounty and that it was Alexius who put it up, and Nathaniel would seek the prince out which would allow Alexius to ask Nathaniel to tell him where he got his sudden strength from.
Of course, there was the possibility that Nathaniel just might actually die from this, and Alexius might not get what he's looking for, but oh well, he will cross that bridge when he gets to it; maybe then he'll be willing to expend his resources searching for the witch.
He was lucky and grateful for the fact that very select few nobles knew it was him who posted the bounty, and those who knew did well to shut up.
...….
"So this Count Paul, is the one who made you attack Eon because he promised to lessen your debt to him?"
Reniris asked for clarification after Luke had explained everything; Eon, on the other hand, was busy scarfing down some bread and eggs that were prepared by Ruth.
"Yes that's the gist of it"
The mage agreed, at present it was just him, Eon and Reniris at his home, he had Instructed Ruth to take Jake to the library, he didn't want her to hear about the dealings he made, mostly because she'll feel guilty about it and He didn't know what Eon would do.
"So then why don't we go talk with Count Paul then? Since he coerced him into doing what he did"
Reniris turned towards the dining table and addressed Eon who was occupied with his food, which he found very delicious. Eggs and bread weren't his favourite but they were delicious.
He chewed and swallowed before he opened his mouth to speak.
"Oh I'm going to talk with the Count alright, I'll make him think once about doing that shit again"
Eon said before returning to eating his food, but unfortunately, there was very little of it left.
"Since you plan on getting your revenge on the count, why not let Luke here off? his family would be devastated if you did anything too extreme to him."
"Well he should have thought about that before choosing to attack me"
The Dragonoid said as he finished the last bite of his food, wiped his mouth, and dusted the bread crumbs off his hands.
"Eon!"
She exclaimed but hidden in her exclamation of his name was her asking him to reconsider his decision.
"I won't do much to him, maybe I'll remove a leg or an arm, I'm sure he can live a good life without a limb"
Eon expressed casually, causing the mage in the room to tense up in surprise and a bit of fear, he grabbed his left arm as he couldn't imagine living without it.
Healing mages were rare, and even rarer were ones who can regenerate limbs, and in the event you find one, the cost of getting your arm regenerated would be astronomical.
In order to heal the body, one needs to be intimately familiar with how it works. You must have a deep understanding of human anatomy and that usually takes years of study, something most folk just don't care to do since it costs money.
"Come on, Eon, don't go that far."
She said but Eon stood up from his position and moved towards Luke.
"He'll live"
He said dismissively, he was already not going to kill him like he had wanted to, so he wasn't willing to compromise on this. Under normal circumstances, he would have let her have her way, but he was unwilling to do that today; something inside him told him not to or rather told him to get retribution one way or another.
"No, you can't do that! You'd be ruining his life"
Reniris objected as she got closer and grabbed Eon's hand and stopped him from moving forward and maiming Luke.
A sudden tension was injected into the room as Eon immediately frowned and looked at her, and she looked at him with a stern expression; he could feel her grip on him was tight and firm.
