Max was beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, the universe had a weird sense of humor when it came to him. He had barely survived the gay club initiation prank, but now he found himself knee-deep in another bizarre situation, courtesy of A, the girl who had managed to break his heart not once, but twice.
"Hey, Max! Thanks for coming," A greeted him with her usual carefree smile as she led him into what looked like an attempt at a lounge decorated with…rainbow-colored furniture. He raised an eyebrow.
Oh no, not again… Max thought, eyeing the rainbow cushions with suspicion. He had to be on guard. With his luck, there could be another "Welcome to the Fabulous Gay Club" banner lurking around the corner, ready to hit him in the face.
"So, A…what's the occasion? Planning another 'heart-crushing' dinner?" Max asked with a grin, masking the internal scream that echoed in his head. The last dinner she invited him to had ended with a disaster—a gay matchmaking attempt that still haunted him.
A chuckled. "Oh no, this time it's something more…um, special."
Special? That one word sent alarm bells ringing in Max's head. He didn't trust that word anymore. Nothing good ever came with it. He could still remember how 'special' it had been the last time—dodging an overly enthusiastic guy named Bryan who thought Max was his 'perfect match'.
Before Max could ask for details, A pulled him inside the room, and his heart sank. There, sitting on the couch, was the same guy from before—Bryan. And Bryan had a look in his eyes that made Max want to crawl under the rainbow couch and disappear.
"Max! Dude! It's so great to see you again!" Bryan shouted, jumping up and rushing toward him with arms wide open.
Max's eyes widened in horror. Oh god, not another hug. Please, anything but that hug!
Max sidestepped, narrowly avoiding Bryan's bear hug. "Hey, Bryan… uh, nice to see you too," he lied, trying not to show his fear. Why does it always feel like I'm a walking gay magnet?
Bryan plopped back down onto the couch with a goofy grin. "I was just telling A how I need to find someone as handsome as you, Max. Someone who could join our club and maybe—"
Max's soul momentarily left his body as Bryan's words sank in. Oh no, this is happening again. My life has officially turned into a bad sitcom.
"Join… what?" Max asked cautiously.
A jumped in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Max, don't freak out. You know how you're always getting roped into these awkward situations?"
"Awkward?!" Max's voice cracked. "I'm practically living in the Twilight Zone."
"Exactly! So I figured you'd want to help Bryan and the rest of us with something."
Max pinched the bridge of his nose. "If this is about another 'special club,' I swear I'm going to—"
"Oh, it's not a club," Bryan interrupted, giving Max a wink. "It's a lifestyle."
Max stared at them both, completely defeated. "I'm straight," he said firmly, almost as if he was trying to remind the universe. "Like… as straight as a ruler."
Bryan leaned closer. "Rulers can bend, you know…"
Max physically flinched at the comment. "No, no. I'm more like… the Eiffel Tower. Straight. Tall. Completely immovable!"
Bryan's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I love architecture!"
Max sighed. "Of course, you do…"
Just then, A giggled. "Max, relax! We're messing with you. Bryan's dating someone else now." She pointed to the guy standing in the corner—a muscular dude who looked like he bench-pressed rainbows for breakfast.
Max blinked. "Wait… what?"
Bryan smiled. "Yup, meet Trent. My actual boyfriend. I'm just messing with you, dude. You're so fun to tease."
Max stared at them both, mouth open. "I—I need a drink."
A burst into laughter. "Come on, Max, admit it. Your face was priceless!"
Max rubbed his forehead. "You two are the reason I have trust issues."
Bryan clapped his hands. "Don't worry, we'll make it up to you. How about we get you out of that shirt and into something more fabulous?" He winked.
Max slowly backed away toward the door. "Nope. Nope. Not happening. I'm keeping my hetero dignity intact today."

What Max didn't realize was that his life was about to spiral into another chaotic adventure of accidental gay confusion and even more ridiculous situations. He just hoped he could survive with his sanity intact.
