Chapter 57

After a quick lunch cursory of Lucifer's handy-dandy pocket dimension that seemed to store practically everything you could need or want, The trio were on the move.

Arya didn't have a plan in mind as to want to do next but Lucifer shared some information with her.

"I plan on freeing the hostages."

Arya nodded. Made sense when the demon king was using children to blackmail people into fighting an unpopular war.

"Free the kids and their parents will no longer see any more reason to fight? But I don't think that'll be enough to end this war that your father started."

Lucifer knew that saving the kids won't be enough to end this war. There were some people who supported his crazy father and his war and those who won't stop fighting because they didn't have family or loved ones held hostage.

"Free the kids and their parents will no longer see any more reason to fight? But I don't think that'll be enough to end this war that your father started."

Arya was right about that because his father didn't just keep his army together with blackmail. He also used violence and torture to keep it together. Fear was a much better motivator than honor or glory was.

He kept his mouth shut and Arya took it as a sign that he didn't want to talk.

Why did Lucifer surrender to her? Why did he continue to stick with her? Why wasn't he with his own kind?

Did it have something to do with his father and/or not supporting the war and betraying his own kind?

So far, Lucifer and Lilith hadn't done anything to hurt her or backstab her and Arya felt like she could relax now with them but not let her guard down fully.

Arya sensed danger approaching her and that gut feeling might have saved her life.

An ax flying through the air nearly loped off Arya's head. She ducked and the ax sliced through her hair instead. Her long hair got an inch or two cut off of it from the tip. The ax got itself stuck in the trunk of a tree instead.

Lucky it wasn't my head or neck, Arya thought, as she readied her swords to fight.

A person came charging out of the woods.

It was a human man and he was dressed in a simple shirt and pants that were dirty and bare-threaded. He looked simply deranged and insane as he swung an ax down onto Arya.

Arya blocked the sword by crossing her two swords together before pushing him away with a blast of telekinetic force.

He was pushed back a few feet and he looked a little bit dazed and confused right now.

Then he charged again at Arya. Arya and him crossed weapons several times and Arya got a feeling that this crazy man wasn't particularly strong or well-trained. His swings were too sloppy and he was just swinging around his ax with no skill or technique, only relying on raw strength.

It was written in the way he moved and fought.

Arya crossed, slashed and blocked each blow, looking for a chance to be able to land a hit without hurting this man.

The man finally gave her an opening when he raised his ax above his head, intending to give Arya a devastating strike, but instead left himself vulnerable, Arya slammed the hilt of one of her swords into his chest and he collapsed onto the ground, dropping the ax.

Arya finished him off by slamming the hilt of one of her swords into his head.

He fell face-first into the dirt.

Lucifer was about to lend her a hand but he saw that she had taken care of things all by herself.

"Strong girl. I like strong women."

Arya shot him a look.

"Keep your tastes to yourself, man."

Lucifer held up his hands in surrender.

"Sorry, sorry. But what do you plan on doing with his madman?"

Arya thought about it.

"Question him, duh. He might know something about what the heck is going on right now."
