Mr.Crazy finally woke up to see Arya sitting in front of him.
She had her swords by her side and she looked calm and peaceful right now but she had the look of a predator in her eyes.
"Okay, welcome back to the world of the living, good sir. Sorry about having to knock you out like that but you did attack me out of nowhere."
Mr.Crazy knew that this young girl was far stronger and more powerful than he was and she could easily kill him if she wanted to. Best to play it safe.
"Yes, no need to apologize for that. I'm at fault for attacking you but I was just so hungry and I thought you might have some food on you. Please, I'm so desperate and I also got three kids to feed as well."
He kneeled in front of Arya and he did seem remorseful for what he did so Arya decided to let it go.
"Kids? Are there any other survivors like you?"
The man nodded.
"Yes, a whole town of us but…."
The man seemed to drift off and he seemed to hesitate to say it.
"What? Is there something wrong with the village?"
The man nodded slowly, once then twice.
"Yes, please, you gotta help us!!"
Arya was taken by surprise when the man suddenly flung himself onto Arya, grabbing her by the pant legs.
…
Lilith looked at Arya with a mix of envy and admiration.
This human girl was strong.
Powerful enough to make any low-ranking demon fall onto their knees.
She was not very pretty-at least by succubus standards-but she had captivating eyes that looked to be made from emeralds.
But she had power and strength.
Two things that she didn't have but coveted so much.
She was no fighter or girl-warrior like she was, Lilith thought, That human can take care of herself easily on the battlefield but she can't.
All she had were good looks-from her mother as everyone liked to say-but good looks didn't bring you respect or power unless you used them to seduce a much powerful ranking demon or monster to become a concubine or official wife or husband.
Being pretty meant nothing in a world where only those with power were respected and admired.
Arya continued to interrogate the man and then she hurried over to where Lucifer and her were.
"He said that they have lots of food and supplies. But he said that the main problem was that someone super strong and powerful is taking control over the supplies and using them to control the people in the village."
Lucifer listened to every word she said.
"I think we better go to help this human man."
….
Men, women, children, elderly, young, single, married. They all looked worn out, terrified, traumatized and so pathetic. Their clothes were dirty, torn up and ragged while their faces were sunken and bony. They smelled as if they hadn't bathed or washed for weeks now and they smelled so bad that it took all of Arya's willpower to not puke whenever she was interacting with them. A few people who had weak stomachs quickly left while one man failed to and emptied out his stomach contents behind a bush.
This was the refugee camp that the town was now that Arya saw.
When the "leader" of the camp came to greet her, she knew that something was wrong.
He was a fat and piggy man while the other residents had a more lean and malnourished look to them.
Arya herself was lean and scrawny looking but not reduced to skin and bones like the residents were.
She bit her lip.
Arya wanted to punch someone right now.
Lucifer and Lilith went their separate ways.
A few minutes ago
"You want us to go our separate ways? Why?"
Lucifer thought for a minute before replying.
"One, because two demons are going to draw unwanted attention. Two, I have to free those kids being held hostage because I have a responsibility as the future king. Third, It's that you don't need to be involved with being some hero or act on a sense of heroic justice."
That last sentence struck a nerve with Arya.
She read story after story about brave heroes and heroines, risking their lives to save people and saving people, strong and kind, courageous and admired, these men and women earned their place in legends and storybooks.
But did she really need to risk her ass? Was it selfish of her to want to look after herself first? She wasn't the kind of person who wanted fame and glory or to believe in some sort of idealized and glorified war and beliefs.
Maybe but she never liked being in the spotlight in the first place. Being a main character wasn't for her.
"Free the kids and their parents will no longer see any more reason to fight? But I don't think that'll be enough to end this war that your father started. Unless you can somehow convince them to join your side and fight against the evil king."
Lucifer looked over his shoulders at Arya before throwing her a burlap bag.
Arya caught it and it felt heavy and full in her hands.
"What's this?"
"A magical bag enchanted to store much more inside of it than what it normally can. It contains medicine, food, water, clothes, blankets, weapons, etc-everything you can possibly need or want to survive."
Arya thanked Lucifer.
"Thank you, Lucifer. I really mean it because even though we didn't spend a lot of time together, you still saved my life back there."
Lucifer shrugged.
"It was nothing really. But I will make sure to bring an end to this fighting. You should focus on your own people, Arya."
…
Lilith was safely rescued and she was on his back, arms wrapped around his shoulders while he held onto her legs.
He first needed to find a safe place for Lilith to stay at.
Lilith was no fighter or girl-warrior like Arya was, Lucifer thought, Arya can take care of herself easily on the battlefield but Lilith can't.
He raced through the forest, covering a hundred feet in a minute.
After Lilith was taken care of, it was then time to bring an end to this war.
Little by little.
But he would have to confront his mad father in the end.
But it was something he must do to bring an end to this nightmare and end the bloodshed.
