Chapter 79

The piles of ashes started to shift and move. They rose and twisted into the air as if a strong gust of wind was playing with them.

The ashes of the monsters and beasts were slowly being solidified and transformed into the original forms of those beasts and monsters.

Everyone was in shock as they thought the fighting was over.

Again and again they fought those beasts and monsters, defeating them each time only to have to fight them again.

They could fight as long as they wanted and as much as they wanted but soon they would tire out and weaken from prolonged fighting.

It seemed like the theme was "zombie invasion" as all of the monsters looked undead and in various stages of decomposition.

Zombies were beheaded, limbs cut off, speared through with arrows or spears. But that did little to stop them as the undead monsters did not feel pain at all.

Instead, they continued to charge forward, spears and arrows stuck inside their chests, arms, legs or even head, missing arms or legs. One zombie monster lost both legs but continued to drag itself along the floor.

Fireballs burned the zombies and set them on fire but did little to stop the zombies from charging at them, looking like the fiends of hell itself with undead bodies on fire. The smell of burning flesh filled the air.

A boy trapped a small hoard of zombies inside of a bubble of water but trapping undead beings inside of water isn't a very smart idea since those things couldn't die from drowning.

An invisible man with a sword went around cutting off undead heads but being headless had no effect on zombies as their headless undead bodies continued to attack and charge.

The zombies that managed to get a hold of a person started to eat them alive, ripping off strips of flesh from the still living victims. Blood started to pool onto the ground as more and more people were eaten alive by the zombie monsters.

Ezekiel channeled lightning into his hands and he sped around the hallway, kicking and punching and taking out zombies like they were nothing more than living punching bags for him.

A punch to the face, a kick in the guts, a back kick. A straight punch that sent a zombie flying back down the hallway where it crashed into its fellow undead zombies and knocked them down like dominos. Side kick, roundhouse kick, a right hook.

Ezekiel sent zombies flying left and right. The lightning covering his hands and feet increases the damage done to the zombies as their rotting flesh were burned off.

Elijah launched a stream of fire from his hands and the blast of fire incinerated 10 zombies into piles of ashes.

Elijah's fire was getting smaller and smaller and less hot. Ezekiel was getting tired. Everyone was getting tired.

Arya picked up an entire hoard of zombies and lifted them into the air.

Arya's eyes started to glow a bit as she started to rip the zombies apart bit by bit, first tearing off their limbs, then ripping their limbs and bodies to pieces. She continued until the zombies were nothing more than little pieces of flesh and bone.

She dropped the pieces to the ground and watched them for a few moments.

The pieces didn't turn back into zombies-at least not yet.

Lucifer was punching and kicking away at zombie wolves that size of a small horse. One punch blasted off the head of one of them while another punch reduced the zombie monster wolf into smoking bits and pieces.

Lucinda kicked a wolf in its side and it went flying, tumbling and rolling on the ground as it did.

The zombies Arya tore to pieces were starting to resurrect again.

A blast of fire from Elijah stopped that form happening.

"GO ARYA!!!"

Ezekiel's voice rang out from the battlefield as he battled three zombie bird-humanoid monasteries.

Arya realized that Ezkiel was speaking to her.

She had been forgotten and she somehow wandered off the battlefield. Isolated and away from the fight.

But she didn't want to go.

"GO AND KILL THE KING!!! STOP THE FIGHTING ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! END THIS!!!"

Ezekiel was screaming at her to go. That she would be the one to put an end to this war.

"I….I CAN'T LEAVE YOU!!"

She was about to charge back into the fighting.

Arya didn't want to leave Ezekiel and the others behind but his firm glaze stopped her.

"ARYA, I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! NOW GO AND DO IT!!!"

Some zombies finally noticed her and charged at her but they were all fired up into ashes with well-placed bolts of lightning.

Lucifer tugged at her hand.

"He's right. He's trusting you to be able to do this. If you want to really kill a snake, you need to cut off its head. Please don't let his faith in you be for nothing as he's making sure nothing is going to stop you."

Arya gulped.

Tears in her eyes, She let the royal demon siblings lead her further off into the forest, the sounds of fighting and violence growing fainter and fainter.

Now, there was a king that needed to be dealt with.
