Erickson flicked his tongue, then sighed.
"So what? Why does it matter to you whether the woman was pregnant or not? Did you father the child?" he asked, leaning sideways with his hand propping his face.
"No. I didn't. I just thought... it wasn't necessary," Avond said.
"Ah, it's like I'm talking to a wall. Did you not hear what I said? It's not what they've done; it's what they could do. You know how archaeologists are, Avond. Their interest lies in their discovery and the preservation of history. They won't let it go easily, even when tons of money are involved," Erickson pointed out.
Avond couldn't help but agree.
The ones who were most passionate about finding stolen artifacts in the black market were those archaeologists.
He had a few run-ins with them, having thought it was just a piece of old pottery or some stolen jewelry from a dead man centuries ago.
