RAVENNA POV
I could feel the shift tearing through me, my bones bending, about to snap. Despite the pain I was in, I was still fascinated by the shift.
The way my bones bend and snap but they don't break. The way my body stretches and bends. It was fascinating and it was terrifying.
The pain increased as the shift began to tear through. I cried out, trying to contain the pain.
Darius' voice cut through the haze. "Keep breathing. Breathe through it. You can do this."
I clenched my jaw, focusing on my breathing, trying to steady myself. The leash he had spoken of—it was there.
I could feel it, like a thin thread tethering me to my human side. Every part of me screamed to let go, to surrender to the wolf, but I fought it. I couldn't let her win.
The first bone snapped, the second crack coming faster. My hands clenched into fists as my nails elongated, sharp and dangerous. My body twisted and contorted, muscles shifting, bones reshaping, fur sprouting along my arms. The pain was unbearable.
I gasped through it, gritting my teeth. "Darius…"
"I'm right here, baby," he whispered, his voice low but full of assurance. "You're doing great. Hold onto the leash. You've got this."
The wolf inside me howled, a primal, deep sound that made my chest ache. It was a call for release, but I held firm. The pressure built, and with a final snap, I felt the transformation complete.
I opened my eyes, my vision clearer and sharper. I stood on all fours now, my body covered in a thick coat of silver fur, just as Darius had said.
My senses were on fire—everything was sharper, more vivid. I could smell the earth beneath me, and the wind that ruffled through the trees. The world felt different from this new perspective.
I had been in too much pain and shock to really feel this side of me the first time I shifted. But now I felt everything and it felt amazing. If I could, I would cry.
And now I could feel my wolf perfectly, feel her caress, her touch. She was no longer trying to wrestle control. She was just content to be out.
Darius stepped back, his eyes full of approval and awe. "You did it." He bent to my level and patted my head. My wolf wags her tail, her tongue out. "Hello, beautiful," Darius whispered, his eyes glowing faintly and I knew his wolf was trying to come out, to meet his mate.
My wolf purred as Darius scratched behind her ear. She licked his nose and Darius chuckled softly, the sound light.
"Are you still there, Ravenna?" Darius asked softly.
I didn't know how I was supposed to answer him like this so I just tried to nod. He must be satisfied by what he saw because he smiled softly.
"What does it feel like?" he asked.
I felt… powerful, strong. I felt like I could run a thousand miles and I wouldn't get tired.
I didn't know to say this to Darius but once again he understood. How he does that, I didn't know.
"Alright, baby. You're going to have to shift back now. Same as it was before. Don't rush it, don't push it."
I shifted back, the process just as painful as before, but this time I knew what to expect. My bones cracked, muscles burned, and skin stretched, but eventually, I was human again—lying on the ground before him, breathless and trembling.
Darius was there immediately, his hands stroking my hair, and my cheeks, his eyes bright with emotions. "You did well. You held on, Ravenna. That's the hardest part."
I sat up and leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his body against mine, grounding me. "I don't know how I did it," I admitted, still a little shaken from the intensity of the transformation.
"You're stronger than you know." Darius' voice was a soft murmur against my ear. "Now, we train you to master that strength. To make it your own."
I looked up at him, meeting his gaze. His expression was filled with pride, and I could see the fire in his eyes. "And we'll do it together," he promised.
And then his lips were on mine, kissing and devouring my lips like he couldn't breathe without it.
I was still naked so his hands roamed on my bare back, making me shiver. He pulled me against him, and my bare chest was pressed against his clothed one.
His hand went to my hair and tightened and he deepened the kiss, pulling me to sit on his lap. His other hand squeezed my ass, moving it so I could ground against his hard dick.
I gasped as the bulge pressed against my bare flesh, my wetness soaking his pants.
Darius growled deep in his throat before he broke the kiss and kissed my jaw, my neck, my throat, each feeling of his wet lips leaving a heated mark on the skin.
"You consume you, Ravenna," he rasped, continuing the kiss downwards. "With or without the mate bond. You fill me, complete me. And we haven't even bonded yet. What will it feel like when we do?"
"Darius…" I could only moan his name because his lips were doing wicked things to me. He was now kissing the top of my breast before he placed a light kiss on my nipple. Just a feather-like kiss but it still managed to ignite me.
"Do you want us to seal the bond, Ravenna?" he asked, his eyes now fixed on me as his hand traveled down and cupped my silk heat, making me gasp. "This is no small commitment."
"Yes," I breathed, my body heated as he massaged me in the core gently. "Yes, Darius, I want to."
"Do you know what being mated to me entails, my sweet?" His voice was low, rough. "You will become my luna, my equal, my queen."
His luna. God, I wanted it. I wanted to claim him in every way possible, and him me.
His finger began circling my clit and I fought the urge to close my eyes.
I looked into his eyes, trying hard to get my thoughts under control but I knew what I wanted. "I want to be yours in every sense of the word, Darius. I want to be your mate, your Luna, your queen, your friend, your lover. I want to be your everything. I want your world to be centered on me. I want to be the only thing you think about. The only one who fills your thoughts consumes it. Make me yours, Darius. I'm ready."
Darius' nostrils flared, his chest was rising heavily, and his eyes were glassy. He bent and kissed me softly, his lips telling me all the words he couldn't say. And I answered with my own lips.
He pulled away and cupped my face as he whispered, "I love you, Ravenna."
And before I could answer he lifted me.
