New world

"aaaafffuuuuuuu"

With a long breath, Noel woke up, feeling suffocated and experiencing heavy pain in his body.

Last night, he finished reading the novel and went to sleep, but now he was suddenly feeling pain again. How could this be? With gritted teeth, he opened his eyes to find out that he was inside a vehicle, while two men looked at him with astonished expressions.

"Listen, boy, don't move," they said. "We thought you were dead."

Noel wanted to speak, but he couldn't. He tried to get up but realized he couldn't move his body due to the severe pain. Then, he tried to speak again, and a fleeting memory entered his mind.

He saw himself living in an orphanage until he turned eighteen, when they told him to leave and fend for himself.

Then, he saw himself doing odd jobs to fulfil his hunger and daily needs until he received a call from a job broker.

The broker asked him to pretend to be someone's husband in exchange for food, housing, monthly income, and a final payment of ten million dollars.

Later, he discovered that the client was Cynthia Charles, a wealthy socialite who wanted him to act as her husband in front of her family.

Desperate for money, Noel accepted her offer and signed a marriage contract.

For three years, Noel acted as her husband in name only, but he slowly fell for her beauty and started loving her.

Although he endured harsh words from her family, he ignored them for her sake, not just for the money.

Today, he found out that her family knew the truth – that the marriage was a ruse to avoid marriage.

They looked unhappy but accepted her wish and asked her to annul the marriage with Noel, promising not to force her to marry again.

Cynthia agreed to her parents' request, as she was busy with her upcoming project. Her family filed for divorce on her behalf.

Noel was sad about this arrangement but knew his social status was far lower than hers, and she would never accept his love.

With that in mind, Noel headed towards the divorce court.

Lost in thought, he didn't notice someone push him. As he turned back, he saw a woman looking at him, but she vanished into thin air, leaving him bewildered.

Before he could process what happened, a running truck hit him.

Inside Cynthia Charles' large laboratory, her phone rang repeatedly.

"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."

"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."

"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."

Ignoring the calls initially, her secretary, Lana, finally picked up. "Can't you understand that when someone ignores your calls, it means they're busy?" But when she heard it was from the hospital, Lana's tone changed.

"there's a call from the hospital," Lana informed Cynthia. "They say your husband has been in an accident and is now admitted."

Cynthia took the phone from Lana's hand. "Hello?"

The nurse on the other end said, "Miss, your husband has been in a truck accident. He's lost a lot of blood, but miraculously, he's still alive. We found your number on his phone, saved as 'Wifey.' Are you, his wife?"

Cynthia answered, "Yes," surprised that Noel had saved her number as 'Wifey.'

The nurse continued, "Miss, we need you to settle his bill..." But Cynthia interrupted.

"Give him a private patient ward with good facilities. I'll settle the bill when I arrive. Ensure he receives the best care until then."

inside the private ward,

Noel yelled, "Aaaaaaaahaaaaaaa!"

as he opened his eyes. He found himself in a hospital room, sweating as memories of the truck accident flooded back.

A nurse entered his room, responding to his yell. "Are you okay, Mister..." Then she checked his condition and found him okay then she recalled his name.

"Mr. Noel, right? Your wife is coming; rest until then."

Noel looked at her pleasant face. "My wife?" he asked.

The nurse smiled. "Yes, she's on her way." With that, she left him alone.

Noel still felt some pain in his head, but the painkillers had subdued his body pain.

"What's happening to me? I just went to sleep, and now I have these unfamiliar memories, this place, and my wife?" He was confused by the sudden turn of events in his life.

As an avid novel reader, he quickly drew a conclusion: "I seem to have transmigrated into another world, but where?"

Then he spotted the same novel he was reading last night on the table.

"How is this here? Am I really transmigrated or...?" As he picked up the book and flipped its pages, he found them empty.

"How?" He was perplexed by the novel's empty pages. Opening the first page, he saw the only written text:

[GOD] or [DEVIL]

Noel pondered, recalling the novel he read last night. The Gods represented order, justice, and righteousness, wielding immense power and shaping the world.

The Devils embodied chaos, freedom, and rebellion, challenging the Gods and sparking the Great War.

Rereading the text with a bewildered expression, he wondered, "How is this possible?"

"Am I inside this novel? But the world inside the novel and this world are too different; this world is more like my original world."

The more he thought, the more questions arose in his heart.

"According to the novel, I need to choose sides – either the Gods or the Demons."

"If things unfold as they did in the novel's ending, the Gods will win. Why wouldn't they, with Sun Wukong, Zeus, Ares, Odin, Thor, Ra, Ma'at, Jade Emperor, Guanyin, Susanoo, Michael, and many more on their side?"

"Meanwhile, the Demons were vastly outnumbered.

How could they possibly win against such odds? I'm even more confused because many Demons were missing in the novel, while countless Gods easily conquered them."

He still believed the novel's author showed favouritism to the gods, adding numerous powerful deities while limiting the demons to just a few.

"How can they resist when even Sun Wukong alone killed fifty percent of them, and there were only around ten demon figures to begin with?"
